It’s a live show with hundreds in the audience

No, not really. I would be surprised if it was still the case in a few weeks, but at the moment no.

everythingisginandroses · 14/03/2020 21:08

Did they say 'groovy fuckers'?

I'm surprised Ant & Dec appear on TV ever. Fucking overrated, let alone the drink driving.
.........

How very unforgiving.

Lynda07 · 14/03/2020 21:24

I don't get this thread either. Presumably members of the audience had a choice whether or not to go to the show, nobody held a gun to their heads.

Genopy · 14/03/2020 21:25

I thought the same. Why would you choose to sit there with all those people. Madness.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 14/03/2020 21:30

I think that it’s irresponsible of ITV, or other station, to stage a show with a substantial number of people in close proximity to one another. Of course they have made a choice to be there, but when they all go back to their homes in different parts of the country, any of them may be infectious and liable to infect many others.

I think the Cheltenham Festival was a nonsense too.

Vargas · 14/03/2020 21:33

No, we're not on lockdown. Lots of people out and about where I live.

TheFormidableMrsC · 14/03/2020 21:39

I've got a friend who works in the tech bit of this show, I will text him and find out...what I will say is that the audience on the telly appears a lot larger than reality. It's actually really really small. They do stuff to make it appear as hundreds and hundreds of people but it isn't. I still think it's a mistake in the current climate but I also know it's not as many people as you think

MrsJBaptiste · 14/03/2020 21:40

So all of you who think it's awful, are you not leaving the house and mixing with people?

Seeing family? Shopping? Coffee out?

^ That was my day today and I'm sure it was for millions of people in this country.

Devlesko · 14/03/2020 21:42

Well if people are stupid enough to go.
Some people are saying that a complete shutdown wouldn't work here as we'd get bored, not follow the rules.

On the contrary seems like people need to be told what to do/what not to do, or they just carry on walking off the bloody cliff.

When there is a pandemic it's not wise to go into crowds, whatever anyone says. Also, not a good time to take a holiday.

SapphireSalute · 14/03/2020 21:47

by next week all live shows will be stopped, i hope!!

theres the silver lining in all this.....shit tv will stop.....no love island, and and dec,x factor, strictly.....no audiences. we might get a good film on tv instead but i won't hold my breath

MorganKitten · 14/03/2020 21:59

I assume none of you have been around anyone this week? It’s a few hours, people spend more time at work!

chickenfried · 14/03/2020 22:09

@sapphiresalute - you know you can watch films on tv now right ? You dont have to wait for ITV to schedule them,
Hundreds of channels, Netflix, sky. You really dont have to watch audience shows, its not forced... that thing we call a remote, just keep pressing it !
I work in live tv, as do hundreds of other people. Regular people the ones who do the catering, the cleaning, the editing, the sound, the runners . All on not great money in the first place, all freelance, all jobless with no sick pay - thats your silver lining. Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Every one there is an adult who is capable of making their own decisions on this

And yet hypocritically this no longer seems to apply to the over 70s

GilchristQ · 15/03/2020 04:54

Why would no audience stop any if those programmes. Ant and Dec will change format. Love island, didnt have an audiences as far as I was aware. Only the after show did.

People arent going to stop making TV programmes. They will still film with no audience.

You can watch a good film where you want, get a dvd.

Alwaysreadyforbed · 15/03/2020 06:28

Ffs and laughing at all the ‘clever’ people clamouring to say how untalented they are. You are all so hilarious...

MysweetAudrina · 15/03/2020 06:50

Yes it seemed strange to me as I am in ROI and the Friday night late late show went ahead here but without a studio audience. All indoor gatherings of more than 100 people are not going ahead here.
