What small but significant disappointments are you facing?
DoubleAction · 14/03/2020 16:21
Things that you know are nothing in the great scheme of things but still bother you more than you know they should.
I'm very concerned about how the illness will play out, how people will cope with a prolonged lockdown and how long it will take the economy to recover but I was knocked sideways by the realisation that the festival that DS2 has worked hard and saved hard for probably won't happen.
He's been getting more and more excited as all the "right" bands have been added to the lineup. I'll be gutted for him if it doesn't happen.
BabyLlamaZem · 14/03/2020 16:22
Friend's Birthday. Also just sent back my baby's 0-6 months swimming shorts as he will never use them before he's six months old.
Janemarpling · 14/03/2020 16:24
I am 40 this year so had a few plans.
So that is disappointing.
DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 14/03/2020 16:24
I have loads of concerts to attend this year, I'll be sad if they get cancelled.
danadas · 14/03/2020 16:26
Aintree National Meeting. The whole family goes every year, we love racing anyway and go regularly but for this we dress up/hair/nails etc, have a drink and a meal and all go together.
It doesn't matter in any way in the grand scheme of things but it is that yearly thing that we all look forward to.
Fannia · 14/03/2020 16:28
I'd be disappointed if I don't get to see my mum on mothers day and was planning to take my gran out for her 97th birthday in April so that may not go ahead.
Echobelly · 14/03/2020 16:29
Getting a very watered down online version of face to face management training that I really need!
BabyLlamaZem · 14/03/2020 16:29
Oh and family meeting DS for the first time. My grandparents still havn't seen him and now mignt never do :(
Honeyroar · 14/03/2020 16:29
A few important sport events in the sport I follow (they’ve not been cancelled yet but I expect they will) that play a huge importance in the Olympic team selection. Although they may not happen either.
I also have a lovely roster at work that will probably be scrapped as flights are cancelled (cabin crew).
CoronaVera · 14/03/2020 16:30
Was looking forward to the Pokémon event in Liverpool. It hasn't been cancelled yet. But it will be.
I work in the NHS. I know this doesn't matter. But it also does. Good thread OP.
FusionChefGeoff · 14/03/2020 16:30
My surprise 40th birthday trip to Rome. I've wanted to go for ages and DH surprised me months ago but we were waiting until the weather picked up
Giggorata · 14/03/2020 16:31
I missed a concert I've been looking forward to last night and will really miss the World Snooker at the Crucible, if they decide not to go ahead.
MrsTerryPratchett · 14/03/2020 16:31
A run I'm training for was just cancelled. Trying not to slack off now.
My parents live in another country and my dad's in poor health so I've got bigger worries. But the run is disappointing.
eggstrordinaire · 14/03/2020 16:32
Well I turn 40 in a month and was meant to go on holiday.
backaftera2yearbreak · 14/03/2020 16:32
My sons going to camp in Monday...we think. Hour up the road so may still be ok. But he will be gutted. Life lesson for him though. I will sit with him and plan something new once he’s got over it
DrFoxtrot · 14/03/2020 16:32
I've posted on another thread a slightly ranty post about losing money for a school trip, £3k . And I was also going to the Pokemon Live event, having bought tickets for four of us. Small things in the grand scheme but still annoying.
EnormousDormouse · 14/03/2020 16:33
I've already lost money on a cancelled trip at half term, now I'm not going to get home to the UK at Easter (I'm a teacher in the ME). And even if I could I wouldn't want to visit my elderly relatives anyway as I'd be paranoid I'd picked something up on the journey.
TattiePants · 14/03/2020 16:33
DH (against my better judgement) is in Majorca, due to fly home on a Jet2 flight tomorrow which is looking unlikely now. I know he'll get repatriated but it's the knock on effect to everything else if he's delayed. Letting the decorator down if he's not here on Monday to let him in, helping me on Tuesday with something critical to my business, DD upset as she's missing him.....
Seventyone72seventy3 · 14/03/2020 16:33
My parents were going to visit. I haven't seen them in six months.
TwoKidsStillStanding · 14/03/2020 16:34
DC2 is eight weeks old and we were just starting to get out and about properly after a c-section these last few weeks. Popping into town for a coffee after dropping DC1 at school. Starting to try local baby groups and meet people. Little outings, but have only been driving these last two weeks so was looking forward to going further afield, exploring the area more on mat leave, maybe taking baby into work to see colleagues. Who knows when this will be an option?
I’ve been really looking forward to mat leave. Going back to enforced isolation, as per the first few weeks post-section, not so much.
goose1964 · 14/03/2020 16:34
We were going to see our granddaughter for her first birthday, but we're both at increased risk, although DH doesn't seem to care atm.
LASH38 · 14/03/2020 16:35
1st world problem. I cancelled my baby’s birthday party, I was so looking forward to it.
