Things that you know are nothing in the great scheme of things but still bother you more than you know they should.

I'm very concerned about how the illness will play out, how people will cope with a prolonged lockdown and how long it will take the economy to recover but I was knocked sideways by the realisation that the festival that DS2 has worked hard and saved hard for probably won't happen.

He's been getting more and more excited as all the "right" bands have been added to the lineup. I'll be gutted for him if it doesn't happen.

That instead of people pulling together and looking out for each other it has become in most situations every man for himself.
😕

On a personal level I have to move home this year and this has put more uncertainty on it.

There is just me and dc (who see their dad one day or less at weekend). I'm not looking forward to being at home for two weeks or longer with the kids. One of my dc needs a lot of exercise everyday in fresh air and has ASD and other issues and does not cope well with not being able to get rid of said energy. Confused

And i have elderly parents who rely on me to help them several times a week so worried abt this too.

TheMostHappy · 14/03/2020 17:29

Oh yes and birthdays, and my mum's wedding, and a non-urgent but very much needed operation that I was on the waiting list for. None of this matters in the grand scheme of things, i just hope we make it out the other side (I have a couple of health conditions that make me quite high risk) I would hate to leave my young kids without a mum.

Haahabloodyhaa · 14/03/2020 17:29

Cancelled pub quiz!

PetrolCan · 14/03/2020 17:29

Due to go on holiday to a country that is so far not that affected by coronavirus at Easter. I don't know if they'll restrict travel from Europe yet. It was due to be my kids' first time on an aeroplane, and they'll be so disappointed if we can't go. Having said that, I'm not sure I want to go. The world isn't a happy place at the moment, and enjoying a holiday feels wrong. Plus, I'd be worried about my mum. She's in her 70s but in very good health, but I'm a bit wary of travelling that far away from her right now.

I realise a cancelled holiday is nothing in the grand scheme of things, I just more feel like it's wrong at the moment to enjoy myself unnecessarily, if that makes sense.

Haahabloodyhaa · 14/03/2020 17:30

Ah sorry probably doesn't count as significant.

vingt · 14/03/2020 17:30

DS is 21 just after Easter, we had a do planned which we will have to cancel.

SynchroSwimmer · 14/03/2020 17:31

Got my case packed ready by the door and car loaded up to drive to Gatwick in the morning - for flight to Turkey, a repeat visit to a much loved familiar hotel and onward travel to meet local friends.

We lost the very same booking last October to the same hotel due to the Thomas Cook crash (money refunded eventually)

Suspect I will get to the airport before the flights are cancelled....

But in the grand scheme of things it’s not the most important at this time...

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 14/03/2020 17:31

DDs birthday in May, she really wants a bowling party but I just can't bring myself to book it right now. It feels unlikely we'd be able to do it.

HaddawayAndShite · 14/03/2020 17:31

DPs Stag do in a month.
My Hen Party in May.
Wedding in June. Hoping if things are cancelled our insurance will cover it.
Festival in August.
Luckily we've held off booking a honeymoon money wise.
I feel awful for anyone this has drastically effected.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 14/03/2020 17:31

I live a long way abroad and it is highly likely that my much-loved and missed only child won't be able to leave England to visit me as planned months ago for my birthday next month. I've not seen them since before Christmas. It's small in the grand scheme of things, but huge for an old unemployed empty nester.

MrsMGE · 14/03/2020 17:32

Maybe not a disappointment, but anxiety - my parents live abroad, both are in a vulnerable group and because of the current restrictions where they are, I would not be able to see them worst come to worst. That's a very unsettling thought and I'm struggling, admittedly.

A disappointment would be if DH and I have to cancel our holiday in May. Wedding anniversary and a long awaited sunny break after two miscarriages. But we are where we are.

Hope we all stay safe and sound Flowers

MirandaWest · 14/03/2020 17:33

Theatre trip, DD performing in two theatre productions, DSs GCSEs where he’s just got really motivated.

Tumbleweed101 · 14/03/2020 17:36

Just got a new car after months of not having one I can trust and now may not be able to go too far in it for a while.

pallisers · 14/03/2020 17:36

Had to cancel a holiday with my daughter - supposed to leave next Saturday.

Biggest thing is all of my children's universities have shut down so they are home 6 weeks early and NOT happy about it. I feel very sorry for them and particularly sorry for the seniors who are about to graduate.

I'm presuming I won't be able to go on any holidays for quite a while tbh.

DH working from home is going to be a possible serious threat to our marriage :)

FleetwoodMacMummy · 14/03/2020 17:39

I'm supposed to have elective surgery on NHS at the end of this month and I'm not sure if it's happening

Shodan · 14/03/2020 17:39

My best friend and I were supposed to be going to Spain for a week at the end of April Sad

MillieMoodle · 14/03/2020 17:39

Oh @BoudiccaBo that has made me cry, what a lovely surprise to arrange for your DD and what a shame that this bloody virus has buggered it all up Sad

@JE17 I can only imagine your excitement at thinking you'll have a nice quiet house and the freedom to watch Netflix in peace...and then the schools are closed... Thanks wishing you a quick and smooth recovery from your op.

We have cancelled DS1's birthday day out tomorrow.

Won't be going to Wales at Easter I don't think (it was a surprise for the DC, so at least they won't be disappointed as they didn't know!).

Not sure if our holiday in the summer will be cancelled. We've already had the dates changed due to Thomas cook going under and the airport changed due to TUI's flight changes, so I'm starting to think it's not meant to be. We were going with friends for the first time and the grown ups and kids were really looking forward to it. We shall see.

Mostly disappointed and worried that I can't see my parents as they're both very high risk and unwell, they are self isolating at the moment and I'm doing their shopping and dropping off on the doorstep. They are gutted not to be able to see their grandchildren.

Thanks for everyone who's missing out on something they were looking forward to

Myshinynewname · 14/03/2020 17:40

Seeing my mum on Mother's Day. She's in very poor health so even without CV it's very likely to be her last one. I have CV symptoms so am self isolating and there is no way I could risk seeing her so soon.

mymymymycorona · 14/03/2020 17:41

I thought I would be saving money (being at home and still getting paid!) but I've had to order some games and arts n crafts stuff for the dc AND I am getting through A LOT of milk and fruit!!

overnightangel · 14/03/2020 17:44

Fairly sure I won’t be going on the long weekend 12 of us have booked in Milan for a friend’s 40th next month!

JustDanceAddict · 14/03/2020 17:47

Possible cancellations - music festival for DD, comedy show for dh and I, family bday event, mother’s day tea, DS trip abroad in summer.
Nothing been officially cancelled yet but still... both DCs have big bdays coming up and we can’t really get lan for them either. DS’s is in 3 weeks and we may all be Isolated!!

Isleepinahedgefund · 14/03/2020 17:47

Really wanted to go to Lake Como at easter (fortunately hadn’t booked).

JustDanceAddict · 14/03/2020 17:47

Plan, not Get Ian!!

SunshineCake · 14/03/2020 17:47

Lovely long walks with my dog which we enjoy now.

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 14/03/2020 17:49

We were going to do the Harry Potter thing at easter, I was due to go on a field trip with uni, ds was going on a trip to France that he's super excited for and I have Green Day tickets for June.
All small things but still very disappointing for us.
