Do you have symptoms? How did you decide if your symptoms were relevant? Is 7 days long enough?

I am. I started having a cough on Wednesday, which was worse on Thursday.
To me the advice is clear do there was no decision to make.
It's very unusual for me to have a cough anyway.
I've no idea if 7 days is enough, I can only follow the advice given.

Exhaustedpidgeon · 14/03/2020 10:27

I have an on off cough. So might cough 5-6 times then not cough for an hour or two or half a day. It’s a dry one. I’m prone to coughs though.

We all have headaches. No fevers though.

My temp has been over 38 since Tuesday. Very bored

Paulolina · 14/03/2020 10:30

I believe the woke phase is social distancing now

inselfisolationnow · 14/03/2020 10:30

A continuous cough is the wording I believe. So not clearing your throat or coughing a few times but a cough that continues throughout the day and is new (in last 7 days)

inselfisolationnow · 14/03/2020 10:31

@Exhaustedpidgeon when did your cough start?

Boom45 · 14/03/2020 10:31

They're quite clear it's a "persistent" cough. My son is asthmatic so will have coughing fits, especially over night/first thing in the morning then nothing for hours. I'm not isolating him because it's not new and it's not persistent

Boom45 · 14/03/2020 10:33

@Paulolina social distancing is different to self isolating (not sure its "woke" though). Social distancing is not shaking hands/hugging and keeping a distance from people while going about your daily business. Self isolating is staying home and not seeing people at all.

Knocksomesense · 14/03/2020 10:33

I have a new mild cough as of yesterday evening. Nothing horrific but my airways are tickly and dry. I'm going to isolate along with my two boys who have colds

HasaDigaEebowai · 14/03/2020 10:33

Mine is like yours OP. Its a cough that isn't the norm for me and so I am isolating. It isn't a bad cough and I'm not having coughing fits but I am coughing a few times an hour.

Knocksomesense · 14/03/2020 10:34

FWIW I don't for a second think I have CV but no one wants a cold and then cv on top

Beesisabuzzin · 14/03/2020 10:37

Oh shit, I have a very mild cough. I'm only coughing a few times an hour, no coughing fits. Not massive uncontrollable coughs. I went out yesterday as I didn't class it as persistent.

Looks like I should be self isolating.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 10:40

Yup. We're full of symptoms.

DS was blue lighted to hospital this morning because he began showing symptoms of meningitis.
They ruled it out now though thank god.

adaline · 14/03/2020 10:42

No illness here at all so we're currently continuing as normal. But at the first signs of a cough/fever then we'll be self-isolating. A real pain as we're both self-employed but there you go - luckily we have savings and very understanding clients!

x2boys · 14/03/2020 10:44

This could go on for months ,my worry is people are going to get complacent ,people get coughs and colds all the time ,how often can we self isolate .

TemoraryUsername · 14/03/2020 10:45

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou support to hear that. Thank goodness gees bee cleared from meningitis.
Self isolating with a cough as of yesterday here. It's the remains of a snotty cold from last week when I didn't hit the criteria to isolate because I had no fever - still don't but advice had changed, and nobody wants to catch a cold right now now.

Splitsunrise · 14/03/2020 10:46

Move to correct topic please

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 10:47

@splitsunrise who are you talking to?

Splitsunrise · 14/03/2020 10:50

It would be nice if the OP arranged for it to be moved, but I’ve reported anyway

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 10:55

🙄🙄🙄

How cringey are you? Confused

HasaDigaEebowai · 14/03/2020 10:57

@Splitsunrise you do realise that forcing MN to move it doesn't mean that this isn't happening. Stop being the thread police and wake up to what is happening in the world rather than burying your head in the sand.

Splitsunrise · 14/03/2020 10:59

Shocking, I thought that’s exactly what it meant Hmm

It’s just annoying having the main active threads cluttered up with this topic that’s all! Nothing about burying my head in the sand.

HasaDigaEebowai · 14/03/2020 11:00

Moving it doens't stop it showing in active

ohcarriemathison · 14/03/2020 11:02

My DD (5) has had a dry, persistent since last Saturday and had a fever on Thursday / Friday. I think she's coming over it now but we missed ballet yesterday and swimming today & will miss gymnastics tomorrow.
Will see how she is for back to school on Monday.
