Do you have symptoms? How did you decide if your symptoms were relevant? Is 7 days long enough?

Well it seems to for me 🤷‍♀️

@hasadigaeebowai I wouldn't class that a persistent cough, so don't think you'd need to self isolate. Same for @beesisabuzzin

My dd went to nursery with a bit of a tickle cough on Friday. I asked the manager and he said she was fine to go in.

I do think PHE need to give clearer guidance on what is a persistent cough.

I'm self-isolating. I have had a bit of a cold since last Friday which I thought had gone but then I woke up with a sore throat on Wednesday. On Thursday I stated to feel really rough. I got a high temp and cough which started at around the same time as the government announcement to self isolate if you have these symptoms was made. So my DH left work early to look after DC and I took myself into our spare room which has an ensuite and there I have stayed ever since. I'm going out of my mind not seeing my DC and talking to my DH through a door. None of them have any symptoms but DH is having to take time off work to look after the DC and I just feel so guilty about it all. I'm sure what I've got is a nasty cold and I feel so over the top just sitting in the spare room while he does everything. This whole thing is just horrible.

You're supposed to self isolate if you have a fever OR persistent cough.

Children aren't getting it the same way adults are.

Derbyshirelady · 14/03/2020 12:03

Agree dontbitetheboob our two kids had temps of over 38 on Thursday so we are all isolating for 7 days.

Any tips on surviving this with two pre schoolers (and a husband Hmm ) greatly received. We got them out in the garden this morning. They have no temps now just cold symptoms.

Luckily the Aldi wine order is coming this afternoon.

I need to go and get wine as well!

There's 5 of us stuck in😭

We are self-isolating. My two year old started with a persistent cough yesterday. She’s then had a temperature on and off and her breathing was crackly first thing this morning and a sore throat as her throat is croaky. She’s miserable. So am I. We are locked on the top floor of our house while my husband is looking after my 4 and 6 year olds in the rest of the house but they won’t be going into school or work either next week. The advice is we all need to self-isolate and I think there has never been a more crucial time to be socially aware and responsible. But I feel like you @pipnchops on balance, she most likely has a cold.

Self isolating here .... madness starting to kick in already and toddler is being very naughty.

All the Wine to those isolating. My 3yo currently doing sprint laps round the ground floor of the house with a lolly in his mouth. Off to intervene...at least the baby is asleep

I am. My 1 year old has had a fever for 7 days and a very persistent cough, we ended up calling an ambulance as he was so unwell. He's finally fever-free for the first time today but still coughing. I don't feel well but no fever or cough, but effectively self isolating as he can't go out.

I'm not entirely clear how long I should isolate him for as it's 7 days from the onset of illness. I suppose just keep him at home until he's completely better?

x2boys · 14/03/2020 19:51

Do you have to.isolate from your family too? As pp,s have suggested I'm not sure how we would manage that ,fine if you have the space but I have a small two bed house we don't have any spare rooms to.isolate too ,my youngest child has severe autism and learning disabilities and is like my shadow ,I could go.to my parents who have three spare bedroom but my mum's in the vulnerable category as she's in her late 70,s with underlying health issues so.I wouldn't want to potentially give her the virus ,these guidelines are not practical for lots of people
