PLEASE EXCUSE THE FAIL LINK

Due to fly home Sunday.

They're talking about closing access by air, sea and road.

It says on the photo as of midnight last night no one can leave??

I can't find a conclusive report. An official one I mean rather than tabloid reports

Your DP is a fucking idiot. I’m in Madrid and luckily speak Spanish so as soon as I saw the news rebooked my flight for today rather than tomorrow. And am getting off the plane into our car into self isolation for 2 weeks.

Bulbosaur · 14/03/2020 09:57

You don't have to tell me that. I'm well aware.

Will they let you drive your car right up to the plane?

Bulbosaur · 14/03/2020 10:02

snort

I would be looking at whatever other transport he can get out of the region. Train, bus, whatever.

Grufallosfriends · 14/03/2020 10:10

Why is he even there? I mean was it very urgent for him to travel to Spain?

Grufallosfriends · 14/03/2020 10:10

But yeah, get out as quickly as possible!

Bulbosaur · 14/03/2020 10:46

He's refusing to do anything.

He says airline says everything is scheduled as normal so he will be back tomorrow night.

Fucking moron.

He says airline says everything is scheduled as normal so he will be back tomorrow night.

Point out to him that the passengers onboard Jet2 aircraft this morning were told the same, only to be turned around midair. This isn't a situation where what applies today will still apply tomorrow. Jet2 changed their stance regarding Spain in an hour or 2.

MsGee · 14/03/2020 10:49

Jet2 already cancelled all flights.

Bulbosaur · 14/03/2020 10:49

I said that to him!

OP posts:
MsGee · 14/03/2020 10:51

Sorry - repeating other advice - I would tell him to get out by any means as others have said as he is unlikely to be able to rely on air travel.

(Mind you, he sounds like an arse, so I would be tempted to text him see you in a few weeks and leave him to it. Then make him self isolate in a tent in the garden).

DorothyCotton · 14/03/2020 10:55

If he's that much of a twat OP I'd just leave him to it and enjoy the peace at home. You can't argue with stupid, believe me I've tried.

Readyme · 14/03/2020 10:57

Is he always this stubborn? Or is he paralysed with fear?
If you can't convince him to come home asap could you at least convince him to work on a contingency plan does he have money for accommodation and food?

Bulbosaur · 14/03/2020 10:58

He has no travel insurance.

We don't have the money for accommodation and such if he doenst get out

Am sat here crying with frustration

Helenj1977 · 14/03/2020 11:02

Are the same person who posted saying you didn't think he should go?

He's being a dick. No travel insurance? Good luck to him. I'd concentrate on you now and leave him to it if he's being that childish.

FAQs · 14/03/2020 11:02

The other issue is people have been paying increased fare prices to get home from other countries so he needs to be prepared to have extra funds if he doesn’t sort it out now.

Butterymuffin · 14/03/2020 11:04

He'll have to ask for whatever emergency help the authorities there are providing, then. As pp said, leave him to it now. It'll be his problem to solve when he gets stuck.

LoopyGremlin · 14/03/2020 11:04

Why on earth would he not have travel insurance, particularly in the current climate?

Jobseeker19 · 14/03/2020 11:05

The way England is going on he is probably better off there

SuckingDieselFella · 14/03/2020 11:05

People in this country are being told not to go into work.

Most UK universities closed yesterday.

Why on earth does he think he can wait another day and the flight will still take off?

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 14/03/2020 11:05

What an idiot! He needs to get out now.

Eyre89 · 14/03/2020 11:06

Not sure if it's true but my mums partner is in Spain waiting to come home. Hes been told the planes are empty and turning back as they aren't picking up passengers to bring into Spain but will be flying them home. And that the planes that have turned around will then take them home just a delay. However this is the airport staff and they also seem confused...
And alot could change by tomorrow even if they are flying out today

bemoreeverything · 14/03/2020 11:09

I don't know what you are trying to say here.

The Jet2 flights that turned back were on the way to Spanish airports, with passengers onboard. The return flights will obviously not operate later today as the aircraft are not in place.

Other airlines are operating as normal.

otterturk · 14/03/2020 11:11

Is this the dick who left his partner and four kids at home for a lads weekend in a highly infected country? I'm surprised you want him back if so,
