Anyone got symptoms?

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/03/2020 17:57

We're Brighton so a few cases here, I work in a hospital and the kids are.... well, their kids.

Two youngest DS were really unwell last week with a temp of 40-41, one of them I couldn't get the temp down and he ended up in A&E, followed by a consistent cough.

They never mentioned corona and neither did we since we hadn't been abroad.

Now eldest DC and I have high temperatures and the feeling of squeezing in our chest, harder to draw in breath as though someone's pushing on our chests. The coughing has started today.

Spoke to another parent who's child is off who has the same symptoms and she thinks her DD has it.

Obvs we're self isolating but it's too late, we have been in contact with countless people, there's 5 of us! 5 different schools/work places.

Anyone else the same??

I’ve had sore throat since last Friday for a couple of days and chest tight since Tuesday but no temp at all. Cough started weds slightly but ramped up today and I went to worm and came home again as felt poorly. I’m now not sure what to do from here as I’m not going out this weekend but not sure what to do about Monday

YesThatsATurdOnTheRug · 13/03/2020 18:20

Just home from a friend's and during the visit her dc came home from nursery and one of them had high temp and was lethargic. Self isolation for us I'm guessing Sad

FlorencesHunger · 13/03/2020 18:24

Well following the latest advice We will be isolating for 7days as of today. I woke with a cough and general shit feeling, this week dd had cold symptoms and not much else so we have carried on as normal up until this point.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 13/03/2020 18:47

When we went to A&E they said he has a throat infection I was like Hmm his throat was pain free.

As PP said, we just carried on as normal.
During which we would have all be passing it on far and wide Confused

I have a cough that began yesterday. My daughter has had a cough for a few days. We are self isolating.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 09:13

We ended up in A&E, it got so bad DS was showing symptoms similar to meningitis.

They have ruled that out though thank God.

This virus is brutal

For the last 2 weeks I've had what feels like the start of a cold, sore throat on and off, chills alternating with hot flashes, aching muscles and sore glands, along with chest tightness.
No cough though. DH the same but he does have a cough.
Ds had the same last week but he's over it now.

Assumed it was just a cold tbh.

buttonmoonb4tea · 14/03/2020 09:44

Yes my symptoms started last weekend, started with a headache then on Monday the cough started, flu symptoms, diarrhoea. My DC have had similar symptoms. At one point yesterday I thought I'm going to have to go to hospital as my trachea felt so restricted and felt unable to breathe. This really isn't a nice virus.

FurrySlipperBoots · 14/03/2020 09:51

I've had a cough since Wednesday, with some random waves of fever (not bad one though). I'm self-isolating but I live with my parents who are in their 60s, mum chronically ill and dad has asthma, so I am a bit anxious about them.

The whole 7 days thing, is it literally just 7 days and then you get on with life, business as usual, even if you're still coughing?

UpToonGirl · 14/03/2020 09:56

Eldest has had a cough since last week, on off temp but not really high. Youngest has same but more of a temp, that started Monday. Middle child has been coughing a little and says he has a sore throat but no temp and seems fine (still running round acting like his usual self).
I have had a cough since about Wednesday and feel really wiped - just going up and down the stairs and short walks are leaving me struggling. My chest feels heavy and my muscles in my arms and neck are also hurting but I don't feel terrible - I had tonsillitis before Christmas and that was MUCH worse. I don't know, sometimes I feel like we do have it and then I watch my middle son jumping off the sofa and running up and down the stairs and I think it can't be CV!

I just wish they were doing the tests as they did for Swine Flu, wouldn't make any difference I suppose but at least I would know.

Can you get private tests yets?

iwonttaketheeasyroad · 14/03/2020 10:01

I've had a slight temperature since Wednesday but and general aches and pains. Feel exhausted no cough yet. Temp on and off only 37.5 so im a bit torn as to whether I should self isolate .

fairyfingers · 14/03/2020 10:37

Posted on a previous thread but last week I had a feeling of just being 'off' for a few days then came down with a fever and was in bed for 3 days with chills and awful aches (had that whole 'wouldn't pick up 50 quid if it was on the floor). Dry cough. Sore throat kicked in after that then a bit of snot.

Lots of 'oh it can't be cv because that doesn't have a sore throat/runny nose' so I went back to work Monday. Still a bit snotty and a cough especially at night. Chest is still tight and feels squeezed and sore throat is back. But coughing less and no fever any more.

But I'm v confused because sore throat and snot are now referenced as symptoms. I've been in close contact with someone who has been very poorly all week with fever/breathing difficulties and who has been trying to get a test. We both began to feel off at the same time so I think logically it's the same thing as it started with the same pattern.

I inadvertently ended up self isolating for a almost week because I felt rough but kept being told not to be silly and it was just a cold and to crack on.

Kids and dh seem ok - dd1 got a bit lethargic and a tiny bit of a cough.

So no idea. It would have useful to know either way if only if I had, I could notify work/stay away from my mum/kept kids home from school.

ComeOnGordon · 14/03/2020 10:43

I’ve been home since tues - mild fever, aches (which lasted till thurs) and the whole time a cough and shortness of breath. But not been abroad so not tested. Kids still living their normal lives. Do I go back to work next week to the oncology ward I work on? I’ve got no diagnosis but I suspect I had it. It’s a shit show

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 10:46

@ComeOnGordon you need to ask them.
But the damage is already done really, we are most contagious in the 5 days before symptoms show.

OP posts:
SurfingGiantess · 14/03/2020 10:47

Can you not ask to be tested just to know for sure? Definitely don't spread it further if you can avoid it all with work.

Thesearmsofmine · 14/03/2020 10:50

Yes. Felt a bit off last Friday but by the end of the day I felt awful with a headache etc, since last Saturday I’ve been feeling wiped out with an awful cough which wakes me up through the night and makes my chest hurt. I have stayed home(apart from one walk to our local park a few days ago while it was empty (and I touched nothing). I don’t know what it is but I not usually so wiped out from a general cold.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 14/03/2020 10:50

Our hospital aren't testing unless the patient needs admitting.

They said that's policy, so many people have symptoms now, they can't afford to test everyone. And since we're all going to get it at some point they have the halt the testing somewhere.

OP posts:
bigchris · 14/03/2020 10:51

@ComeOnGordon surely in your line of work there's guidance , testing so you don't spread it to high risk patients ?

ComeOnGordon · 14/03/2020 12:28

I asked my boss just before I left on tues and he said they would only test if you’d been abroad. I’m not in the UK - in a country a bit further along with more cases but it made a mockery of the whole system. Surely by that point I could have picked it up anywhere in my normal life from the people who had come back from those risky areas. I’m going to stay off on Monday and go back on tues I think - that’s a week. Can’t do anymore

hoovermyrug · 14/03/2020 12:33

I've got a weird tickle that feels like a cough is coming. I've been tired of late and headachey. Pressure in chest but nothing really bad wouldn't say I'm ill. But I don't feel quite right. When I breathe in my throat and chest feel tickly.

mummywiththetummy · 14/03/2020 13:10

There seems to be a couple of people who have had similar so whether it’s CV or something else we will never know. Came down with an awful headache and then a migraine on Monday felt completely exhausted. Went straight to sleep after work. Next few days felt wiped out, but just put it down to me being tired. No sore throat or cough but my body ached all over by Thursday. I was sent home from work by midday as I work in a hospital and was checked and I had a fever. By the time I got home could barely walk up the stairs and had chills too. Had an awful night and day yesterday but woke up today feeling fine. I’m Sussex way too so god knows what’s going on. If it is CV it was horrible but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be. I am self isolating for 7 days as instructed by Boris to be on the safe side. Even though my stupid manager was like “See how you’re feeling on Sunday”. No way am I putting my colleagues or patients at risk.

Skybluepink123 · 14/03/2020 13:29

My teenage DD started with fairly constant cough last night and low level fever. She has asthma but her inhalers haven’t helped and she says this cough feels different. Also had some diarrhoea which I’ve read can be a sign. Overall though she says she just feels a bit rough, utterly exhausted , but not hugely unwell. When you look at NHS 111 website, it says that if you have a continuous new cough or high temp then you should self isolate for 7 days. It’s so hard to know what’s going on. Is it CV, god forbid, or just a viral infection? I’ve got 2 other DCs with disabilities so it’s quite worrying for them and then DH and I are in our 50’s so presumably more susceptible to being more ill. I just don’t know what to think.

buttonmoonb4tea · 14/03/2020 19:05

@Skybluepink123 myself and my DC are self isolating. The symptoms are exactly as your DD describes. The whole family needs to self isolate.
