Anyone else have a child with symptoms?

Hello there

So DS 10 developed a dry cough yesterday. No temperature. Has anyone else's child had something like this? Just wondering how it may pan out.

The information is next to useless. Obviously he can't get tested. The advice is to self isolate if you have a cough but no temperature, but then the government website says that the big symptom is a temperature.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone else is, or has been, in the same boat.

Other viruses are available..and still FAR more likely!

@Nancypineapple that’s dreadful. Hope they do something soon.

Wishing everyone’s DCs a speedy recovery.

My DS is pretty perky but just has this cough. I’ve spent a bit of time cancelling everything that he’s involved in. Thankfully DH has to work from home next week as well so we will be avoiding people
As much as possible.

In the bigger picture I understand the self isolation, but it is frustrating when we are following the advice to the letter but I’m pretty sceptical that it should apply to DS (although be assured, we are isolating him!)

@GruntBaby I keep going in his room and shoving the thermometer in his mouth and giving him the Spanish Inquisition on how he's feeling, he just keeps rolling his eyes at me Grin

@Roomba you’re doing the right thing. Your mother will have to get over it. Good for you.

Thank you. I know I;m doing the right thing, but she is very good at making me feel guilty (decades of practice). I just spoke to her and told her that given they are bringing in laws stating I could be arrested for breaking quarantine, I'll go with givernment advice, not her gut feeling! Suspect she is just worried about spending weeks in the house with just my Dad for company if all his Sky Sports fixtures are cancelled Grin

DS is still warm and tight chested this morning, not sure how warm as the batteries in my thermometer decided to run out. But he says he feels less ill than with a normal cold, so fingers crossed it's just a standard respiratory bug. At least if we're all indoors we won't catch it from anyone else or make anyone else ill and worried. DS is more than happy to isolate himself in his room playing PS4 games and chatting to his mates on Discord, he does that anyway!

My Ds’s cough has gone from dry to a bit phlegm-y. Still no temperature (still no school!)

Has anyone else had this?
