Have you stockpiled?

Sure there have been other posts pertaining to this but I'm starting to be tempted based on the unavvailable items on Sainsurys (online shopping).

Stockpiling stuff there's not much of such as hand sanitiser is selfish. But I don't really see how if there's plenty of a thing buying more is selfish. For example I've bought bigger boxes of the teas we use and several bags of coffee. Plus some tins of beans and bags of pulses. All plenty of it in my local shops. So I don't see how this is selfish.

Does anyone have a really really easy bread recipe I can try please?

My shit-we've-run-out-of-bread recipe (all measurements are by eye):

Strong bread flour (roughly 300 grams I guess)
A shake of yeast (probably 1 1/2 tsp)
Sea salt (around 1 1/2 tsp)

Throw into food processor, turn on and add warm water until it comes together in a pliable ball. Ignore for as long as you have (sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes 2 hours with me). Spin again for a couple of minutes then turn out straight into greaseproof cake case, inside cake tin.

Drizzle with honey, sprinkle with seeds. Leave to rise, or if pushed for time, put straight into oven at 200 for 20 - 30 minutes. Ish.

I also make nice, artisan loaves occasionally, but this is my go-to for easy and speed.

Not really, though Sainsbury forced me to stockpile loo roll by delivering a pack of 9 instead of the pack of 4 that I ordered.

Yes I suppose I have a 'stockpile' but I haven't bought it all in the last few weeks, other than a couple of packs of painkillers and a big bottle of calpol. I always overbuy and have a couple of spares of most things and tend to buy larger packs of things like toilet roll and tinned tomatoes, tuna etc. I'm not sure where the fear of running out comes from because I'm fortunate to have never experienced poverty. I'm glad to think we can survive for a bit if we have to stay indoors for a bit.

FWIW I've never used hand gel and have no intention of starting now so I'm not responsible for that!

No but I always keep a reasonable supply of most items. I am keeping everything topped up regularly but buying no more than usual. Obviously fresh stuff is more difficult. I am in a higher risk group so might be prevented from shopping at some point with or without the virus.
I think it's selfish when there are lots of people who can't buy what they actually need because some idiot has bought the entire stock. Thanks for reminding me put some extra items in the Food bank box next time I'm shopping.

Thank you for the bread recipes, I shall buy the ingredients and a loaf tin and try!
