Hello all,
Firstly I have health anxiety so hear me out. Coronavirus is stressing me. Also wedding planning is stressing me.
Due to get married end of April with about 70 guests coming from all over the country and various parts of the world. A few overseas guests have already told us that are either unable or likely to be unable to make it now.
I’m actually quite bothered at the thought of lots of mine and fiancé’s older relatives travelling (to London, which is where we live and are getting married). My dad has asthma and I worry especially for him, and for fiancé’s dad who has complex multiple health issues. A couple of other guests have travel plans to Japan about a week beforehand, and a few other European trips booked. Several guests are due to bring their babies and young children.
We have already given notice, before Christmas. I am quite tempted to say oh well, let’s just pull the date forwards and get married quietly and then have a very casual get-together on original wedding date if things are still working with the reception venue and everything, and we aren’t all quarantined and whatnot.
We’d lose some money but not a terrible amount as have only paid deposits that aren’t too big, etc.
Sorry if this is sounds like a first-world problem.
Fiancé thinks we don’t need to change anything yet but admits it looks increasingly likely that our plans will end up being disrupted one way or another and that a change may well end up being necessary.
Please let me know if I am totally overreacting - with my anxiety it’s hard for me to get a sense of what a ‘normal’ reaction would be. I can see that the news is full of places closing down, weddings have been banned in Italy, etc.
