Corona Virus Isolation - Anyone else?

Sticki · 01/03/2020 11:58

We are on day 4 of isolation. We can't be the only ones?

We are awaiting the results of a swab as a DC went to Northern Italy with the school during half term. Said DC is bouncing around very very healthy, and the rest of the DC are constantly squabbling (apart from when they are on screens).

Luckily we have enough food and supplies, just running low on sanity.

Anyone out there?

By which time, it is too late to isolate Anyway. I think if someone has the virus in a household,, most people living there are likely to get it so maybe best to accept that really unless you have a massive housw. Also some .people may get very sick and may need help.

That's what we have @catanplayer
Although the nurse said 3-4 days.....

Corona Virus Isolation - Anyone else?
Shandied · 05/03/2020 09:34

Just me and my 1 year old most of the time, guessing if I get it I'll be suffering through alone making sure he is fed, safe and entertained. Bad enough with a regular cold.

catanplayer · 06/03/2020 10:45

Mogloveseggs - have you heard yet? I've given up asking. Thought I'd got somewhere yesterday and was told hospital would phone at a certain time... nothing. I'm assuming it's negative.

mogloveseggs · 06/03/2020 12:24

ywa had a phonecall an hour ago -negative.
We're out of isolation as she no longer has symptoms but I assume would have to complete the 2 weeks if she did have them

mogloveseggs · 06/03/2020 13:18

It appears isolation has made me unable to spell! Yes that should be!

Meee - & DS & DH. DS went on a school ski trip to Italy at half term, & developed a chesty cough on his return. He was swabbed last Thursday night & I got a call on Sunday to say the result was negative (phew!) but to continue to self-isolate until this Sunday at 8 am - seems a bit random but is the time his ferry docked at Dover. DH & I have worked from home - DH does anyway & I do a couple of days a week usually so not so different. The x box has been well used by DS! We are climbing the walls though, especially as it's lovely outside...

I've made a plan if DH or needs isolation (though my money's on me being the only person who gets it here) - luckily we have a front room awaiting redecoration that is still underused and has a daybed to sleep on, and two loos/two bathrooms, so we have reasonable options for keeping separate!

worldgonemad2020 · 07/03/2020 12:11

DC was tested 4 days ago (but is fine!). We are in central London. Anyone else waiting / waited as long? The said results would be back yesterday but I guess they have a huge backlog.... Have made phone clls but not getting anywhere....

DH has a number of Chinese colleagues who self-isolated for 2 weeks following their return after CNY.

All have taken it very seriously, either whole households isolating or just one person staying in the bedroom & disinfecting the bathroom after use - even though none have had symptoms.

There has also been a total between non-isolating colleagues for taking these people food in recyclable trays or dropping off groceries outside the door, as a lot of them are expats and have no wider support network here.

It is difficult to organise but it is possible.

50% in ICU in America below 50
Years old! What's this about? Is it cause they are overweight? My mum thinks maybe different strain? Any ideas why it's so different?

What half in intensive care are under fifty ? Bloody hell. I am in my fifties, that is making me panic more.
