To think people may have already had coronavirus?

I had pneumonia recently, pretty severe, hospitalised. Everyone I've told has said, 'it's weird how many people have said they've had pneumonia in the last month or two.' Yes I know it's the season for these things but it's a bit unusual that so many young and fit people have had pneumonia.

Just out of interest, has anyone you know had pneumonia in the last month or so (in the UK)?

I actually live in France and caught a bizarre infection from my optician. I had a sore throat, a really severe headache that required hospitalisation for 24 hours and a scan, the sore throat still has not completely cleared. I have had severe constipation and for about a week had breathing problems that caused me to sleep in an arm chair for about a week. Now after many weeks of these continued ailments I am on the mend. I never really had a blocked nose but phlegm the size of marbles kept getting coughed up. That also has almost gone. Certainly no blocked nose, but certainly not a normal cold and also my wife got similar symptoms. Funnily, the optician said to me about my symptoms and he stated he had similar but a temperature which I was not aware I had had. We live near Nantes and the large ports and airport. So was it a form? Strange never had ought like it before and the headache and the having to sleep sitting upright in the armchair!

I think this corona virus was around before it became public to us all, I am 69 and had my flu jab and pneumonia jab back in october but in January I came down with what I thought was a heavy cold, sore throat, headache and awful fatigue, slept half the day for about two weeks but I had a really heavy dry cough for weeks and I lost my sense of taste for about 2 weeks, generally felt really ill, having seen the type of symptoms you can get with the corona virus I am convinced that this is what I had but it just wasn't being reported back in January. did anybody else think the same as me?

The recent phylogenetic trees based on many full virus sequences support a single origin and in China, not it being spread around the world before the alarm was raised.

That's really interesting, I'm not sure I am interpreting it correctly but it shows it starting to branch off into the UK by 18 Jan? ish? That is an amazing piece of research.

That’s a fascinating illustration

That is the virus genome evolving, from the initial focus

Hi I knew our optician had a nasty infection, after about 1 week had tummy bug, then sore throat then a headache that required hospitalization, then breathlessness, that caused me to sleep in a chair and then stop to catch breathe going up stairs then very high BP then serious constipation, still had sore throat worn out feeling (that still has not gone completely) you tell me!
But please read the following:-Please someone help. I believe I have had the virus and have some information, someone with a better insight please. Now I live in a microwave link yes in it, a badly installed system here in France. I am a radio and radar guy call signs G6 and F5 We, all my family have had a funny bug. me a slight temperature, a serious sore throat for 4 weeks a headache that meant hospitalisation, a higher than my normal BP, a bit of Diarrhoea followed by serious constipation, also for almost a week could only sleep in a chair sitting upright and a cough that gave serious amounts of phlegm. . My wife similar but not so bad and daughter and grand kids varying amounts of the same, No blocked noses! Now the town in Italy that in the center of all the problem has not had a case. Is it just possible that this virus cannot cope with hi amounts of microwave power and that this has caused the reduction. I do not know, but is there someone who can help etc
