AIBU to cancel holiday?

Booked to go to Malta in May - holiday balance is due tomorrow (over 6k). Travelling with young children and 1 aduly is aged 65+

Malta has no coronavirus cases currently but who knows what will happen between now and May. I dont want to pay the balance and then risk trying to claim off insurance if we dont go.

I suppose its more a what would you do than aibu?

(I know the risk is so low, influenza kills more people etc.. but i dont want to end up in quarantine with 3 young kids somewhere either)

@Alsohuman - I can quite calmly sit here and work out that I am not likely to die from the virus. No one in the country is 'likely' to die from the virus according to the individual chances of dying. But yet here we are, and people are dying. How can that be if everyone needs to calm the fuck down because no one is really at risk? Because of statistics. And we all know, that at any real level of infection in the UK population, a percentage of those people will die. And if the rate of infection is 10% or so with a fatality rate of around 3%, thats still a couple of hundred thousand people that would die. That's difference between individual risk and absolute numbers. I can logically fear what is to come, without illogically fearing for my own life.

I had a weekend to Rome organised with a group of friends soon. We cancelled today but not just because of ourselves. One is a teacher, one is a nurse, one parent has cancer and another is in a nursing home with Alzheimer's. We decided that there are too many vulnerable people around us to take the chance and we would hate to be responsible for the death or serious illness of anyone around us. It just wasn't worth it.

@Alsohuman you're the only one losing your head here and being rude to people.

No change from their usual behaviour.

Finally they have reported how many people have made a full recovery-57000 worldwide. I hope they continue to do so. There are not 167 people in uk with Covid19 at the moment.

I'm meant to be going to Switzerland this week. I still want to go but my oh doesn't. Not sure what we'll end up doing.

Same here but Copenhagen. DH wants to cancel, I’m not sure. I’m just worried we’ll with get it and can’t go, get it there and ruin the trip or they close attractions or we get stuck. Might just postpone the trip. Luckily our hotel is refundable and flights were a bargain.
