Can any one argue it wouldn't be a good thing for the world to see this regime fall?

Brutal sex attacks on victims as young as 12 used by Iran

Known for their brutality, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) slaughtered thousands of protesters who dared to take to the streets in anti-government protests in January.

Hopefully see the end of this but in my opinion you have to continue to degrade the regime....

Hopefully any regime that allows rapists to get away with their disgusting acts is brought to an end.

There are some countering with support for it to stay.

Op it’s horrendous.

Rosepalmaviolets · 22/03/2026 20:58

I had seen that nurses who helped the protesters had been killed or raped and tortured.
They are evil wicked people and I'm sure other followers of islam are outraged that this is all practice in the name of the religion.

I absolutely hope this wicked evil regime is finished but...I can't see how that would happen when they seem to have such a grip not only on their own population but on us with this straight of Hormuz !

I dont know what the best thing is...back down and let it rumble on , USA did try after all and has hopefully downgraded their nuclear plans..or just send in a troops from all over ?

I just don't know.

ObsessiveGoogler · 22/03/2026 21:37

No - we should remember how evil they are, and there are signs of a further crackdown. All while thousands of Iranian civilians have been killed and injured by US / Israeli bombing while many more displaced. Neither side is focusing on improving their lives.

Yes they can hold the world to ransom with the Strait and be as evil as they want. Everyone will let them.

Really? Degrade to what??

You think the cost to millions, even billions of poorer people around the world is worth it to continue a war, with no realistic chance of achieving "Regime Change"?
In fact any Regime Change is going to mean an even more awful Government in Tehran.... not a nice peaceful democratic one, so the brutality will get worse.

The impacts from this are going to be very widespread, will be huge in the UK, inflation, interest rates, rent and mortgages up, repossessions... more poverty.

Perhaps none of this bothers you and you can afford to ride out the impacts.

On Hormuz, Iran is doing what any country would do if attacked, its using the "weapons" it has....

Rosepalmaviolets · 23/03/2026 07:26

I wonder if like the fall of the Bastille in the french Revolution whether anything would happen if the resistance could get the Iranian prisons open.
There was a beautiful letter written by an Iranian saying don't bomb the prisons, tomorrows leaders are in there.
They also mentioned soft ways of helping the regime to topple by opening up Comms.

Hopefully they’ll get there.

It’s an incredible trifecta of ideology which in the leaders means they will use torture and death to repress, geography which gives them a choke hold on the world as ransom and huge wealth from oil to keep and not share with the people.

Add in desire to get to nuclear weapons and the only leaders who would use it, pretty bad all round.

Plenty argued in favour of Palestinian terrorists so it wouldn’t surprise me if there were.

LilyCanna · 23/03/2026 07:39

So far the attacks have resulted in the supreme leader being replaced by his son who is apparently more hardline. And allowed Iran to demonstrate to the world that they have a stranglehold over a significant portion of oil supplies. I would like to be optimistic that the Iranian regime will fall and be replaced by something better to justify all the deaths but I don’t see how you can be optimistic.
Trump thought he could ‘do a Venezuela’, kill the man at the top and get him replaced with someone who would cooperate. It didn’t work, and now he has no plan. Netanyahu is totally ruthless but that doesn’t mean he has any chance of success either. But he might turn Beirut to rubble like he has Gaza.

Allatsea1980s · 23/03/2026 07:43

There were actually about 5 prisoners in the bastille so that made no difference and the French Revolution led to an incredibly bloody and violent civil war - certainly not the liberty equality fraternity that they liked to espouse.

anyway…

I hate this binary thinking. Of course Iran is an evil regime. But so is North Korea. So is arguably china. Russia tortures dissidents. Rape is a widespread weapon of war in the DRC.

are we going to bomb all these places? No of course not. The sad truth is that some places are just not nice places to live and there but for the grace of God, we live in a democratic country.

Trump and Netanyahu have stirred a hornets nest that’s going to be impossible to stop. Netanyahu knows exactly what he is doing. Trump does not.

No they didn't.

People argued against killing 10s of 1000s of people and therefore ensuring a constant stream of new terrorists for decades to come.

The same will happen in Iran, then there is the millions who will come to Europe and doubtless all those on the 'right supporting Trump will be moaning about all these bloody migrants crossing the channel.....

We can stop Iran from getting Nuclear by other means but then again, Trump did say He had destroyed their Nuclear stockpiles last year..... so why the attacks now??

One major difference is what would happen if the IRGC / leaders did get to aim of having nuclear weapons.

Most if not all countries agree they can’t. Whereas the others do do evil things but the risk to the RoW is lower as they wouldn’t use them and get MAD.

This point exactly. The hornets' nest has been stirred - and it has started off a chain of events that are chaotic and unpredictable. I would add that Netanyahu is also using war to keep himself out of the courts (sound familiar??).

This.

Also Trump is now doing exactly the same as Iran blocking the Straits of Hormuz by preventing fuel supplies getting to Cuba and Israel is spreading its campaign of murder further across the Middle East. Nobody has the moral high ground here which is why we should stay out of it.

It doesn’t just go away if people ignore it. It gets stronger and in five to ten years you’d probably get people demanding why since the threat was known and so obvious nothing was done.

Allatsea1980s · 23/03/2026 08:03

All evidence suggests that they were no where near having nuclear weapons and that in any case a deal was close to being made. But that didn’t suit Netanyahu and trump thought he could just install a puppet leader. Instead there is now somebody more hardline. Oh and guess who is choosing to invade Lebanon while this is all going on?

People need to be certain on where they are with this. They get closer on weapons and nothing can be done to stop them.

Alexandra2001 · 23/03/2026 08:09

Its all very well going down the "Iran cannot be allowed to have Nukes" which i agree with BUT what Trump is doing, wont stop that.

What will is troops able to go in and destroy the stockpiles, held deep underground which bombs wont reach.

As this will means 1000s of dead western troops, the only people calling for this are those who can avoid sending their own kids to die, happy to send others children...... and/or perhaps able to move to other countries, not involved.

Iran would probably have agreed to No Nukes in return for a lifting of sanctions, any chance of that has long gone now and Iran will do all it can to get them, aided by Putin......

Well done the 'right wing!

As far as I know the new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei still hasn’t been seen in public since February 28th (or heard in a live broadcast).
In addition to that, several Iranian generals and senior officials have been killed, including security chief Ali Larijani and IRGC Drone Unit Commander Saeed Agha Jani.

twentyeightfishinthepond · 24/03/2026 13:53

Well obviously Iran is a disgraceful regime, but it isnt for the US and Israel to take it upon themselves to sort it out.

The supposed supreme leader still hasn't been seen in public.

Supposed recent photographs of Khamenei distributed by the Iranian government were manipulated with artificial intelligence, according to Shayan Sardarizadeh, a senior journalist with BBC Verify.

Many reports that he is severely wounded or disfigured, possibly even in a coma. We don't know the truth but there will be a reason he isn't appearing in public even behind a screen.
