Conflict in the Middle East

Israeli soldiers shoot unarmed family in head after they from buying clothes for Ramadan. They said they “killed dogs”

As eyes are turned towards the U.S. /Israel war in Iran, the situation for Palestinians in the West Bank continues to be dire.

This headline caught my eyes- young parents and two of their children shot in the head by Israeli soldiers. They were shopping for clothes for Ramadan. The Israeli forces then initially prevented an ambulance reaching the family. One of the soldiers said referred to killing “dogs.”

The Israeli settlers are continuing to kill innocent Palestinians and road blocks are continuing.

We can’t forget that Israel is behaving like this towards innocent Palestinians.

Their legal system allows these crimes to go on unchecked. Even a video of torture of a Palestinian civilian prisoner (conveniently released without a statement and unable to engage in prosecution) was insufficient for Israeli soldiers to be prosecuted.

Thank you for raising awareness of this. Absolutely shocking.

MissyB1 · 15/03/2026 15:18

Yes it’s horrific but pretty much an every day occurrence for Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza. It’s because Palestinians are completely dehumanised, the soldiers called them dogs because they view them as animals, presumably they hate dogs too. But hey remember Israel is always the victim!

Martymcfly24 · 15/03/2026 15:25

The animal trope is definitely reoccurring over the years as regards attitudes to Palestinians.

The West Bank is a very frightening place to live for Palestinians at the moment and it's only going to get worse as the state sanctioned expansion continues at a rapid place. Settler violence is normalised and lawless.

Islandsofsand · 15/03/2026 16:15

I hope EU and UK, as well as regional countries continue to condemn what Israel is doing in the WB. But words are not enough. Israel needs to be held to account for its actions in the region. I can’t see it happening though unfortunately.

Wonder what this and current action in Iran is going to do with the goal of normalising Israeli relations with its neighbours?

I wonder whether Israel no longer cares how those outside the country view it?

Israel know that nothing beyond words is going to happen right now, Gaza has shown them that they can be really dispicable in full view of the world and people will still make excuses for them, governments will say 'steady on now' but do nothing. It's given Israel the green light to treat people in their neighbouring territories however they like.

I will say that I see this changing slightly. This war with Iran has led to an even further tone shift. When news came out yesterday that Israel may be running out of missile interceptors in places that I have seen been very pro Israel in the past it's now along the lines of 'I suppose they will expect us to pay for that too' from the American posters, they are very much seeing the Israeli government as users. People may have been willing to watch Israel starve Palestinian children but if things get difficult in the West due to inflation and people start to stress about feeding their children because of Israeli aggression there will be a shift even further away from Israel again. I think it will take decades though for that to filter through to Western governments and it will probably be too late for Palestinians by then.

Ihatetomatoes · 15/03/2026 18:07

That is awful.

I also read the world standing by as Gaza’s destruction happened has emboldened Israel to act as destructively as it is in the region. No country checked their behaviour and they were able to act with impunity.

The Iran conflict is certainly giving people pause to think further about the situation in the ME- as it’s beginning to affect their lives too. Rather selfish way to think, but guess that’s human nature.

I have also read ordinary anti- establishment Iranians are also in dispair with what Israel and U.S. are doing to their country, people and infrastructure. They don’t know which was worse - the revolutionary guards or what is happening now. They need a country to live in at the end of the day that functions.

I would not say that @Aliceisagooddog
I have seen that there are protests in Israel about the continuous fighting that their government is engaging in. I believe there was an interview by a woman who said you can’t live by the sword.

I would not want to see Israel not be able defend themselves from to the missiles that rain down on them from Iran, but if they run out of intercepting missiles- their government may think further about sending missiles into Iran.

Horrifying. To think there is any justification to just randomly kill a family.
I also saw the charges were dropped against the prison guards caught on video raping the young Palestinian detainee.

QueenOfHiraeth · 15/03/2026 19:19

I deplore what Israel is doing and also hate the extremist violence of Hamas, Hezbollah but, being honest, I have seen so many horrific stories that have later been proved to be untrue from both sides that I don't know what is true and what isn't any more.

Sadly, when there are extremists and fanatics fighting each other, innocent people and the truth are often victims

God yes! There was video evidence of them raping the detainee, but I guess that’s just considered acceptable in Israel 🤷‍♀️

The polling shows the vast majority of people in Israelis support the government. The levels of racism are off the scale.

The Palestinians in Gaza are wholly imprisoned and caged by Israel, for more than 60 years. They have every right to fight back. Believe the ICC, who says this is a genocide.

Ah yes that modern moral democracy that condones gang rape that punctured a mans rectum.

Netanyahu called the rapists "heroic warriors" .
Anybody who votes him in and agrees with this should be ashamed .

I saw this reported in the Israeli news, and came to say I was sincerely sorry and saddened to see this. May their memories be a blessing💔
I hesitated to post on here because I don’t condone a number of the comments on this thread and have no energy to argue why Israel is not “truly evil” or a “vast majority racist”. I am not here to defend what has happened, and hope it will be thoroughly investigated, but perhaps before condemning an entire country of people as a monolith consider that other pro Israelis may refrain from commenting too due to the level of vitriol.

Ellen2shoes · 16/03/2026 18:26

It is horrific and sickening to know that something like this was coming as impunity prevails and also that atrocities and terror will continue as long as the UK turns a blind eye to the brutal realities of the occupation, The UK government knows that Gazans still being bombed and that settler state backed terrorism is totally out of control. It’s disgraceful.

Savvysix1984 · 16/03/2026 18:29

Disgusting but not surprising when it comes to the IDF and the Israeli government.

This.

I agree.

The killing is tragic and needs a thorough investigation into the individuals who shot this family in their car.
