How much longer can we watch this, and our government remain complicit.

Anyone have anything constructive we can be doing. I have written to my MP, although not attended a march

I don’t know OP. It’s absolutely harrowing to see the images and news reports. I feel helpless on how best to make a difference.

MissyB1 · 23/07/2025 20:16

Ive written yet again to my MP, third time, wont make any difference but we have to try something. Ultimately a UK response is up to Keir Starmer, and I dont think hes got any intentions of taking any meaningful action. Shameful 😡

ssd · 23/07/2025 20:33

It is horrific I totally agree.

We can't send any troops or peacekeepers in to provide direct help as israel will attack them. No other country can either, even the US. They would send the Palestinians to any country which offers to take them, but many places are having their own problems and wouldn't want to do this - Egypt, Lebanon, Syria etc. The West have their own problems with their economies and migrants so, who knows.

It's either genocide or they get sent to whoever will take them. Does the world want to be complicit in aiding israel in ridding itself of people who have a right to live in that area? If israel succeeds, then where else and who else might be next?

Readnotscroll · 25/07/2025 06:54

Are you replying to the earlier poster? Didn’t see what they said.

I just feel if there was condemnation of Isreal by world leaders, and no further arms sent, that would be something. By our leaders not decrying the actions of Isreal, I feel as a citizen as if I am complicit

OP posts:
Ineedpeaceandquiet · 25/07/2025 06:58

Truly, truly dreadful and horrifying.

Readnotscroll · 25/07/2025 06:59

And why, as a network aimed largely at mothers, is this not something being discussed on this website. I feel people are fearful of being called anti semetic if they speak out but this now a humane issue.

It has to be discussed in this section.

I know, it's like 99.9% of the world can see what Israel is doing and yet the ones in power do NOTHING, it sickens me the core...

Whatisthisdamnednonsense · 26/07/2025 00:27

No words to express the horror. Teenager DC have never seen anything like it on the news and they now hate the state of Israel. It’s not anti Semitic to judge criticise or loathe the actions of the Netanyahu administration.

Turmerictolly · 26/07/2025 00:32

There is a thread where you can sign petitions, Save the Children etc. Also libby your MP. It’s really horrific.

I don’t know why my reply was deleted. I was just suggesting people check instagram threads for families to support- perhaps I was too specific.

Grassroots charities like palestine Red Crescent have been recommended to me by lots of aid workers and medics.

Are you aware that in sudan unicef has reported that child rape is widespread.

Armed men in sudan are raping children and babies as young as one as an act of war.

Never mind the fact that they are also starving and children are resorting to eating rats, soil and tree leaves for food.

Can you believe this is happening to children and babies in the twenty first century?

Are you writing to your MP? Did you even know? I doubt it.

What is it with Gaza that has everybody so fired up but you couldn't give a toss about the rest of the world and probably don't even know. It as if is the only conflict on earth.

SharonEllis · 01/08/2025 07:41

I suppose you could try the things that have worked before in other contexts? Maybe the effective actions you took for Syria? The Uighyurs? Somalia, DRC, Yemen?

Has the British Government been directly supporting the horrific things happening in Sudan? Has the UK been involved in creating some of those terrible situations? Did the UK support killing innocent people in Sudan? If you believe that happened please could you link evidence? Because that's the difference!! How many times does this need explaining? The UK has supported a genocide in Gaza, they need to take some bloody responsibility for ending it.

Don't waste your breath. Sudan is only ever mentioned as some kind of gotcha. Some people care so much that they never make threads about Sudan/Yemen etc. The other conflicts are only mentioned in as an attempt to whitewash the crimes the IDF are committing.

I don't randomly mention Sudan, as I would never use the trauma my Sudanese friends are suffering as some sort of propaganda.

Unfortunately, you’re going to get some prolific posters turn this thread into a huge debate. If you looking for things you can do- DM me and I’ll pass along the names of other users who might have some advice too.

Wedonttalkaboutboris · 01/08/2025 10:23

I’ve started a thread in Philosophy & Religion called “One Child a Day: Remembering Gaza’s Children”.

It’s not for debate, just a space to post the names and stories of some of the children killed. One a day, quietly, for those who want to bear witness in that way.

You’re welcome to follow, reflect, or just read. 🕯️

I'm not sure if we're allowed to share things like this but this is a link to the sameer project https://linktr.ee/thesameerproject it's a Palestinian led mutual aid project that provides emergency support like shelter, food, water, and medical care to displaced families in Gaza

The Sameer Project | Instagram | Linktree

We are a donations based aid initiative for Gaza led by Palestinians,

Are they being paid to do it by the USA and our government? Are a good number of the people abetting or doing this also citizens from the USA and Europe and descendants of the same?

What is it about this line of interruption to the thread about a so called civilised democracy carrying out this total destruction of Gaza, stealing of the Palestinian’s land in the West Bank and starvation of Palestinians, that it comes up again and again on these threads?

Do you aim to show the perpetrators of depraved savagery in Sudan as being the comparators to the leaders of Israel?

Why not start another thread about Sudan and include links about who among our governments are encouraging it, what NGOs to send money to, and whom to write to in our government about it?
