US confirms plan for private firms to deliver Gaza aid despite UN alarm

The US has confirmed that a new system for providing humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza through private companies is being prepared, as Israel's blockade continues for a third month.

US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said "distribution centres" protected by security contractors would provide food and other supplies to over a million people initially, as part of an effort to prevent Hamas stealing aid.

He denied Israel would take part in aid delivery or distribution, but said its forces would secure the centres' perimeters.

It comes as details emerged about the controversial plan, which UN agencies have reiterated they will not co-operate with because it appears to "weaponize" aid.

The only actual footage I've seen of people getting shot collecting aid shows masked gunmen in a crowd.

@Twiglets1
or fitting the pieces of a jigsaw

Drone footage that was released by the IDF was from a different time and location according to the BBC news this morning

I am sorry to hear about the attack in Colorado.

I have not seen that.

If the IDF released a fake video purporting to be of the event but actually from a different time and place then it will be widely reported today.

Or they won’t use the video. There is reference to this video footage on this thread- but you can’t find it on news sites.

BBC news this morning also stating this morning, on Today programme, that the volume of casualties highly suggests IDF involvement.

I saw that yesterday. Looks more like Hamas or gang members.

@Stripes56 “BBC news this morning also stating this morning, on Today programme, that the volume of casualties highly suggests IDF involvement.”

You can clearly see it’s Hamas or other gang members. The IDF would never send one or two soldiers into that situation.

Whatsinanamehey · 02/06/2025 12:02

BBC verify doing a live feed on it today

BBC Verify reviewed several videos on Sunday, which show:

  • Bodies being carried on carts and in the back of lorries to Gaza's Nasser Hospital
  • Doctors describing injuries inside hospitals
  • A drone video released by the IDF - but there are not enough clues in the footage to pinpoint where exactly it was filmed, or at what time
  • Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) - the group that runs the aid distribution centres - provided three short CCTV clips from a camera at one of its sites in Rafah which it says refutes claims of any shooting
  • One of the clips does appear to include gunfire and BBC Verify is continuing to analyse them with the help of weapons experts

The Gazans in these pictures taken this morning don’t look scared of the US and IDF after the alleged ‘massacre’ yesterday.

@AIBUHere I’m happy to see people of Gaza receiving aid. And no, they do not look scared.

We should blindly believe anything coming from Netanyahu or his advisors but question everything and anything coming from the press. Got it!

ComeAsYouAreAsAFriend · 02/06/2025 13:28

The very idea that anyone living in Gaza right now is not scared is ridiculous. The narrative being peddled is so transparent and actually makes me believe the IDF line even less tbh

Of course they are scared by their situation regarding living in a war zone. But what we were very obviously talking about was do they look scared to be at the aid distribution site? No they don’t, they look pleased to be getting the aid.

It's a ridiculous patronising narrative and it's obvious why it's being peddled. I stand by my comment. You can choose to believe these unverified video clips if you want but I do not believe people are safe when they are receiving their aid.

It’s a totally grotesque thing to comment on.

It is sick propaganda. Having to accept aid from the IDF, their abusers, who have blocked it for close to 3 months bringing people to the brink of starvation, only yesterday over 20 people killed and countless others injured trying to get aid and today videos pop up of happy grateful people. Why you think this type of propaganda is ok is beyond me. It's abusive and controlling, it is worrying you can't see that. The provision of humanitarian aid should not be weaponised in this way more fool you for spreading this type of obvious propaganda.

Are you saying these Gazans were forced to smile and make heart signs? They have no agency at all?

Isn’t that quite dehumanising?

Do you not agree that they look quite happy and healthy?

Methinks you doth protect too much, hun.

There's a very good reason for Israel to take over the supply of aid - Hamas stealing and selling it was an income stream and a way to pay wages, so that avenue has now been shut off, and hopefully more food can actually reach it's intended recipients.

And it's very much open for debate as to who actually shot the civilians - as I posted upthread, the only footage I've seen is of masked gunmen who are almost certainly not the IDF.

Now you know how we feel when we see people lapping up the Hamas propaganda & repeating it.

At least these are photos so somewhat verifiable… unless you think they are all actors?
