This is the first time that Israel and Hamas have been included on this list, joining the ranks of Russia, the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar, Somalia, Yemen and Syria. The allegations against Israel mean that it is believed to be the first democratic country included on the list.

Is the United States on this list or the United Kingdom?

How many kids did both kill during the "war on terror"?

Less than those killed by Israel

More than 9,000 children have been killed or maimed in Iraq since 2008

At least 120,000 children killed or maimed by wars around the world across continents since 2005, an average of almost 20 a day

According to Iraq Body Count, between 2003 and 2011, U.S. coalition forces killed at least 1,201 children in Iraq alone.

Found these figures on US in Iraq can't find figures for Afghanistan. Far too many but a lot lower than Israel has killed in 6 months

This isn't just about killing, it's about countries that harm children. Israel have shut down healthcare, shut down schools, destroyed more than 60% homes, are actively starving children and restricting aid. 100s of 1000s of children are now without a home, without enough food, without sanitation, without medical care. I'm sure you can see how that is causing harm on a mass scale.

The Israeli government and IDF are killing children. That's not spreading blood libel.Hmm It's a cold, hard fact.

@PearlKoala 🙌🙌🙌

@Dulra yes, definitely. I wonder if he has spoken out, I would like to think that he still would. I’m also really sad that lovely John Pilger has passed away. I feel he would have done everything in his power to stand up for the Palestinians.

I've been busy for the past day so don't know if this has been posted but the report on children and armed conflict, which has been seen by the Guardian, verified more cases of war crimes against children in the occupied territories and Israel than anywhere else, including the democratic republic of congo Myanmar, Somalia, Nigeria and Sudan.

In all, the UN verified “8,009 grave violations against 4,360 children” in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank – more than twice the figures for the DRC, the next worst place for violence against children.

In all, 5,698 violations were attributed to Israeli armed and security forces, and 116 to Hamas’s armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. Israeli settlers were judged responsible in 51 cases, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s al-Quds Brigades was involved in 21.

The report also found grave abuses by Israeli forces in the West Bank, with 126 Palestinian children killed and 906 detained. The UN verified five cases where soldiers used boys “to shield forces during law enforcement operations”.

All in all it is pretty damning and these are only the cases that the UN could verify, given how difficult Israel have made access to Gaza it looks like the abuses of Palestinian children really are off the charts.
