Israel says tent camp blaze that killed 45 Palestinians could have been caused by exploding Hamas weapons cache

The weapons they used were of particularly low yield and shouldn’t have been able to cause a detonation like that. The video shows multiple smaller explosions which does point towards some kind of explosive being hidden with the civilians.

So let's not be so quick to judge - let's wait for more evidence before apportioning blame one either side.

Israel says horror tent camp blaze not caused by IDF strikes alone

Horrifying scenes on Sunday showed a blazing hellscape following airstrikes near tents for displaced Palestinians in a designated safe zone due northwest of Rafah city

Where have you got from my posts that I don’t care about Palestinian deaths?

Is that the only response you can formulate?

No I can formulate others. Maybe I missed your posts saying it was disgusting yesterday. Apologies if so. You can send me links if you did post saying that yesterday.

I see no end to this.

Both sides have suffered so greatly. All the innocents lost on both sides, living in fear of their loved ones lives.

I can't imagine the fear living in those camps.

All the west can do is argue about whose fault it is on social media, throw paint up cinema's and chant in the streets, with zero impact

I wish someone had the answer

In every country there are military bases etc in civilian areas so that's just a non reason.

However, no proof it was weapons being detonated, there were explosions and lots of fire. The IDF dropped the bombs, and they done the investigation, that should tel you all you need to know.

This could have also been from gas stoves. Remember the area that was targeted was a designated safe zone where displaced civilians were sleeping in tents, they'd use these stoves to cook what they could. I think this is more likely the cause of the explosions (other than the actual bombs that were dropped).

in simple terms the IDF have kettled the population and then precision bombed them.

Yes exactly. Weapons expert Wes Bryant explains in todays New York Times ““It indicates continued targeting negligence — either an unwillingness or inability to effectively safeguard civilian.
When you use a weapon that’s intended as precision and low collateral damage in an area where civilians are saturated, it really negates that intended use.”

The UK and US governments could end it this week if they stopped supporting Israel.

Is it that simple though? I don't think it is. Would it not just open up other avenues for divide instead?

RomanRoysSearchHistory · 29/05/2024 21:25

Course they do 🤦🏽‍♀️

Yep, that’s about right. You just can’t bomb civilians because there may be Hamas present. The RAF didn’t bomb the Divis flats because there were IRA present. If they had and it had blown up a IRA weapons cache. When Hamas pick up the weapons and point them at the IDF, the IDF are free to blaze away like billy-oh, I’ll shed no tears. There is this thing called the Geneva convention it requires combatants to set up rules of engagement that protect civilians, if the other guy doesn’t play the game, tough. Being the good guy is hard but the alternative is being the bad guy and when both sides are the bad guy no one can claim the moral high ground.

Well said. Sometimes you become the very thing you are meant to be fighting against.

Mellowdramadrama · 29/05/2024 21:32

@keenforhelp the IDF have conveniently said it was a possibility that there were weapons there. Out of many other possibilities, they quickly put that one out there in an attempt to play down their barbaric massacres that now has the attentions of millions across the globe. Or is this another one of those can't you see how sad we are after they made us burn their children alive.

Grandmasswagbag · 29/05/2024 21:35

For one of the supposedly most advanced militaries with the most advanced intelligence services in the world the IDF sure do get themselves in a lot of mischiefs that tend to result in lots of Palestinians being killed or injured.

Mellowdramadrama · 29/05/2024 21:37

@Grandmasswagbag yes indeed. Nobody is spared in their bombing sprees. No wonder they won't allow foreign journalists in

Probably, but it would also be a very good start. I don’t think it’ll ever happen though, regardless of how much people protest.

tinytemper66 · 29/05/2024 21:42

Sure

If Israel is speaking, they’re lying.

This is Anti-Semitic as you stated Israel - ie the Jewish State rather than the IDF or Govt.

I don't think so either.

I just look at my dc and really see how privileged they are that they were lucky enough to be born in a place with no conflict.
