The 12 year old Palestinian child shot dead on the West Bank

OMG. Have just seen the BBC report of this killing, including the site of the shooting, demonstrating how far away this kid playing with a firework was from the highly fortified tower the Israeli sniper shot him from. I’m starting to think we’re dealing with a bunch of fucking psychopaths, in the IDF and the Israeli Government. They’re serial killers, the lot of them. Bollocks to their “he was a 12 year old terrorist”. He was an innocent child, playing.

I know right , I was highly distressed when I saw the news this evening.but then knowing that those Mudaf.... IDF shoot for the slightest reason, I wouldn't have encouraged my child or anyone to shoot fireworks in that environment

TinyYellow · 13/03/2024 23:01

This is horrific. This child is far from the first to lose their life in a similar way. The IDF is truly barbaric.

True, but let's be honest. He could just have easily been playing with a ball, stones or just out looking for food and the same thing was likely to happen

Cherryon · 13/03/2024 23:05

I saw a report that said the fatality rate for children in the West Bank from IDF is higher than the fatality rate was for an army soldier in Afghanistan when the US was fighting the Taliban. If that is true, it is a horrifying to think of the danger for children just living there.

Workconfused · 13/03/2024 23:06

@TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow yea true , exactly my point. They've murdered innocent kids as little as 3 just going across the road to get water, food, anything . This was just something easy for them to "feed" on

propropro · 13/03/2024 23:07

you'll get pushback OP and the usual comments but I agree with you. it's been so bad so long now and there are no excuses.

EasterIssland · 13/03/2024 23:09

Yeah I’ve been told today about this that “this is when happens when in war”

didn’t know there was a war in WB despite it feels like it if we look at IDFs actions

Yep, just waiting for the posters to come along with the usual excuses

@TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow counting down...

I have a good friend in the West bank. Every night he sends me videos of incursions, Israeli army officers randomly shooting, and bulldozers destroying infrastructure. They're unaccountable and frankly psychotic. I tell him the occupation is bound to end but it's little comfort on a daily basis...

Itoosurvive · 13/03/2024 23:32

It saddens me that there are human beings who can line up a gun sight on a child and then pull the trigger.

CherryBlossom321 · 13/03/2024 23:39

”Starting to think”? I thought it had been clear for some time now.

Do you have link? I think it might useful for when I encounter Israel supporters who have an excuse for everything the IDF does.

Horrific murder of an innocent child. Poster last night suggesting the soldiers are working in highly tense environments and this child was using fireworks next to them so what did they expect, how people can even try to justify these child murderers is eye-opening. If this happened in any other democratic country the soldier would be arrested for murder. Anyone know what's happened with this soldier?

Ben Gvir salutes Israeli officer who shot and killed Palestinian child

The minister said shooting the 12-year-old boy in Jerusalem's Shuafat camp was 'exactly how you should act'

Israel is an apartheid state. I keep hoping the world will wake up to this but it seems unlikely.

FoodObsessedToo · 14/03/2024 07:50

Omg. Sick.

WTF is a firework going to do to a grown man??

Dulra · 14/03/2024 08:53

Well there you go if we're in any doubt about the most moral army in the world this is their standards. People on another thread giving out that returning IDF soldiers from Gaza are being arrested and questioned in South Africa, I sure as hell would not want them walking my streets without some kind of interrogation of their actions and intentions first.

maudelovesharold · 14/03/2024 09:04

If you haven’t seen it, Orla Guerin’s report in last night’s BBC 10 o’clock News on IPlayer very eloquently expresses the disbelief that a 12 year old playing with a firework would be any danger to the soldier who shot him from inside huge perimeter walls and a highly fortified and protected watch tower. This wasn’t a street confrontation where in the heat of the moment a soldier made a mistake. He deliberately took the child out with a bullet to the heart.

Bait?

He just finished fasting and was celebrating Ramadan with fireworks! How is that baiting??

I live in a heavy Muslim populated area of Manchester and fireworks have been going off alot recently. It's traditional to celebration.

Don't try and justify a child's death because he was playing with a firework.

A grown man with a sniper riffle VS a 12 year old CHILD, not even a teenager, child stood far away from him with a firework.

You think that's justified?? You're sick.

maudelovesharold · 14/03/2024 09:24

No other army is held to the standards of the IDF. It's pure antisemitism.

Do you know, you’re probably right? Most other armies will be held to much higher standards, because a very low bar has been set for the IDF. This is sadly the latest of many previous murders of children by them in the past.

I’m not even going to dignify your ‘don’t criticise The IDF/Israel whatever depths they descend to because….anti-Semitism’ comment with a response.

Yes, nothing else for it. We definitely can’t have young kids ‘baiting’ an occupying army, can we?
