@HeidiInTheBigCity i was extremely worried when I read this today
How likely is this to gain traction and become a more widespread view amongst the government

Well, their coalition agreement already actually contains the stated intent to annex the West Bank. The specific wording reads:

“In light of our belief in the aforementioned right, the prime minister will lead the formulation and advancement of policies within the framework of applying sovereignty in Judea and Samaria [Judea and Samaria is their ideological wording for the West Bank]Source: https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-far-right-ally-said-to-agree-government-will-advance-w-bank-annexation/

In that sense, you can essentially assumed that the probability is 100% - as it always is for things that have already ocurred!

There is, literally, zero chance that this particular Israeli government - yes, even with the broader "war cabinet" coalition they have at present - will NOT generally support annexation and ethnic cleansing. And while Netanyahu himself is not a messianic settler extremist, make no mistake: his entire political legacy has been to undermine any hope for any two-state-solution. That is, literally, his political legacy. Also, incidentally, why he was quite keen on bolstering Hamas - he thought it would undermine the PA and avoid any threat of Palestinian unity (he was right about that - it worked!).

The question is not: do they think this? The question is: will they get away with it?

It's like they're not even human beings - just an inconvenience to get rid of - like garbage piling up before it's put in the bin

Every morning expect to wake up and find that the Rafah border crossing has developed some serious malfunction and a million Palestinians are now in Egypt

Can't be long now

That’s how they see them though. Palestinians repulse them. The fact that Palestinian children are dying in such barbaric conditions and they are ok with that means they don’t even see them as worthy humans. They’re racists. End of.

I could link you loads of videos where some Israelis are protesting and demanding for them to all be slaughtered one by one. They also make no attempt in hiding the fact that they want all their land at any cost.

"He said an area as small as the Gaza Strip without natural resources could not survive alone, and added: "The State of Israel will no longer be able to accept the existence of an independent entity in Gaza"."

😳

What about the underlying oil and gas fields?

TakeMe2Insanity · 14/11/2023 15:46

Just call it forced deportations but no they keep the language separate and yet do what they are doing and somehow it’s the Palestinians fault.

HaveALaff · 14/11/2023 15:55

Ofcourse Israel will get away with it. They have been getting away with it for years. The world will apologies when it is too late. Let us be on the right side of history.

There's a long and interesting history regarding Gaza's gas reserves. As I understand, after operation cast lead, Israel gained control over Gaza's gas reserves. The marine gas field could not be developed without Israel's approval. Israel did approve the development of the marine gas field in summer 2023, but it is unclear with this current situation whether Palestinians will receive any revenue from it.

An independent Palestinian state could be established, with the goodwill of other Muslim states, using the West Bank and incorporating a section of Jordan. That way the state would be whole, instead of split between two locations with a hostile nation in between.
But Jordan would have to be willing to share with the Palestinians. Which should have happened when the West Bank was under Jordan’s control.

’In 1947 the UN General Assembly recommended that the area that became the West Bank become part of a future Arab state, but this proposal was opposed by the Arab states at the time. In 1948, Jordan occupied the West Bank and annexed it in 1950.’ Wikipedia

I don't know why people are pretending not to see the obvious. It's clear Israel don't get on with any of their neighbours and feel that they are in need of protection from them and their 'criminal, primitive Arabs ways'. The obvious answer here is to 'evacuate' Israelis away from danger. With the goodwill of other modern democratic countries like Israel(I would suggest the UK and the US step up here, they are big fans) a section of the UK for instance(I would suggest formally you give away 20% but allow 40% for settler creepage) Israel could thrive surrounded by people that share their values. But the UK would have to be willing to share with the Israelis of course.

I don't see any reason why this plan is any more ludicrous than 'evacuating' Palestinians away from their homes. It makes a lot of sense and Israel would no longer be in fear but be safe and protected. If you just move Palestinians they would still be there on Israels borders and they would still have to live in fear and be propped up by US aid.

That's what that fanatic monster said, not me.

And to answer your question, yes Gaza has a lot of potential in the energy sector, as well as an alternative to the Suez Canal:

An alternative to the Suez Canal is central to Israel’s genocide of the Palestinians

@HeidiInTheBigCity thank you for answering. Its absolutely terrible. With how much that has been waved away in this war from the actions of the government and IDF it is definitely a real concern

dadoodoodoo · 14/11/2023 16:26

@forthesakeofsanity To be fair I could link to many videos where Israelis are condemning the actions of their government ( often at significant risk to themselves). They’re not a homogeneous group , although I fear the moderates are not politically powerful.

Actually an independent state could be established right here in the UK.

There plenty of space in Devon.

Just get the area cleared out and the people could move right in. Obviously the people living there would have to be willing to share or move out.

Yes, absolutely. There's an immense potential but Palestinians couldn't develop anything as Israel is an occupier and doesn't even grant them freedom of movement.

Yep great idea! No need to ask the people of Devon; our government will just dispossess them. They can always emigrate to Ireland.

@eardefender They have every right to be there. I'm sure they feel Israel are the neighbours from hell too, but nobody is telling the Israelis to move, because nobody holds the entire Israeli population responsible for the heinous actions of their government and state institutions,

Abhannmor · 14/11/2023 19:53

Well there's only 2.3m people in Gaza. Surely those Maga heads across the water will take them in when Trump is reelected. Anything to fulfil bible prophecy and bring on the Rapture ?
