Here is about as biased a source as I could find, and even they’re confirming that Hezbollah was firing into Israel from Lebanon -

https://www.iranintl.com/en/202310199356

Incredibly, yes, if rockets are fired into Israel Israel will return fire. Haven’t we established that point yet? Or was this a “OMG those bloody Jews again” type of post, neglecting to mention that Hezbollah attacked first?

Please stop using the word ‘Jews’ in your posts.

I am a Christian Palestinian. Not once have I used the word Jews in my posts.

I am opposed to the Zionist Ideology and the criminal acts of the Israeli government, that is ethnically cleansing the remaining Arab (Christians and Muslim) populations in the West Bank and Gaza.

Many of those people will be displaced Palestinians who were forced to leave their homeland. So they’re already involved.

What does that have to do with them being bombed? The problems with other governments doesn’t give Israel a green light to behave however it wants.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 22/10/2023 14:27

Fabulous. Could you address the substance of my post please, which was that what you are reporting is actually Israel returning fire? Because your OP - “Israel now bombing Lebanon and Syria too” rather leaves out that Hezbollah has been firing rockets here, which Israel is now retaliating against.

That doesn't explain why you failed to mention Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel first 🙄

SomeCatFromJapan · 22/10/2023 14:42

Israel in this case has reponded to Hezbollah rocket fire, which seems reasonable enough.

Meshigenus · 22/10/2023 15:22

Are you aware that all the communities and towns on the northern border in Israel have been evacuated from civillian populations due to missile attacks and fear of a Hamas style raid?
Soldiers are dying from Hezbollah firing missiles across the border.
Israel is bombing the Hezbollah supply lines.
The LAST thing Israel wants right now is another front opening up.
Iran, the puppet master, is however more than happy to fight until the last Arab.
And whatever the complex history between Palestinians and Israelis, Israel does not occupy any Lebanese lands, there is no dispute to fight over. This is Hezbollah spoiling for a fight (they give not a shit about Palestinians, they murdered ebough of them in Syria to show that) driven by Iran, their paymaster.

TeacupKitty · 22/10/2023 13:56

Disgusting to call Israel a good democracy. Only if you’re Israeli. Otherwise it’s an apartheid state which leaves children without even burns dressings for the wounds they’ve inflicted on them.

Generally a country is a good democracy for its own citizens. Very strange statement. Britiain is a good democracy if you're British. Not so much if you're from Afghanistan.

Hamas had really good first aid kits when they attacked Israel. In fact, they'd stolen them from UNICEF. maybe they can donate them back?

Or, while they're at it, how about Hamas - the ones who are actually obligated to protect Palestinian civillians as the governing authority - returning all the hostages, disarming and giving up terrorism? Pretty sure that the bombing would stop and no more children would die.

Meshigenus · 22/10/2023 15:34

TeacupKitty · 22/10/2023 14:15

I see this question a lot, what should they expect? Not white phosphorus, starvation, bombing hospitals. Anyone asking that question is justifying war crimes.

Who has starved? Food is and will come in.

And Hamas intentionally and cynically use hospitals for military activities. What should Israel do if Hamas is firing rockets from a hospital grounds? I mean, there's no good answer, but what do you think? Let Hamas kill Israeli civillians? Each army and country always prioritizes its own citizens. Always.

Hospitals should never be a target, that's absolutely right. Nor should they ever be used for military activities, especially against a civillian population.

BMW6 · 22/10/2023 15:37

So why did you lie in your original post OP?

Meshigenus · 22/10/2023 15:42

TeacupKitty · 22/10/2023 14:18

Many of those people will be displaced Palestinians who were forced to leave their homeland. So they’re already involved.

Which people??? The Palestinians refugees in Lebanon??

You are aware that Hezbollah is a shi'ite organization? You're aware that they have massacred many Palestinians?

Yeah, right now Palestinians are cheering them on, just like they cheered on Sadam Hussein and sided with Iraq during the Gulf War. They love anyone who threatens Israel. In fact, that is the only thing that unites Hamas and Hezbollah - Islamic extremism and a wish to destroy Israel (and the West) and establish an Islamic state.

saffronsoup · 22/10/2023 17:24

What isn’t good is that the war is spreading to neighbouring countries and if Iran gets involved, there will be even more bloodshed.

What happened in Israel and what is happening in Palestine is horrific. Expanding that to other countries is going to only magnify the horror and suffering.

I also really feel for the 400,000 plus Israeli reservists called up to fight. So many young adults in the prime of their lives who will die fighting this centuries old battle that has no beginning or end.

The Jews weren't 'battling' anyone in the Middle East after the Islamic conquest. That would have been very foolish as a powerless and defeated minority. They accepted their second class citizen status as the Christians also did. They didn't have a choice.

Do you approve of the war crimes this good democracy is committing?

Even without the bombing, which is relentless and is killing thousands of civilians, are you cool with cutting off food, water and humanitarian aid? What's good about that?

Imagine actually supporting a far right, fascist, racist government. I don't know how anyone can support this, yet they flock to these threads to blame Palestinians.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/10/2023 18:34

Who is blaming the Palestinian people? I’ve only seen posts quite rightly blaming the terrorists of Hamas.

She's probably referring to posts on other threads that listed opinion poll results from Gaza showing a majority supporting one terrorist group or another. Some people interpret that as saying that all Gazans/Palestinians support terrorism

Please elaborate on what you mean by pro Palestinian Islamic Jihad narrative?

The Palestinians are constantly blamed for electing Hamas - even though it was many years ago and there have not been any elections allowed since. They are also generally regarded as collateral damage in this conflict.

Laughable. Unless it's referring to the struggle that Palestinians have in trying to hang onto their homes in the West Bank when being forced out by settlers or when trying to survive repeated bombings.

Actually I forgot they usually don't want to discuss the opinion polls because those are too recent for comfort. As a later poster demonstrates, they say it's because of the election in 2006 when Hamas got 40% of the vote.

Toothyfruity · 22/10/2023 18:47

Large numbers in nationalist communities in Northern Ireland supported the IRA during the troubles. It tends to happen in traumatised and besieged communities when every other authority has failed you or won't represent you so you tend to rely on those who will stand up for you and claim to stand for you, whether you agree with everything they do or not.

Nationalists living in republican areas were victimised and attacked by the British army and the police force (RUC) so if they had a problem they often went to the IRA. They had no other option in many cases.

It's not a mystery why this dynamic would emerge in a society suffering long term conflict where an occupying force is involved.

Edited to add that they are still civilians and human beings who should enjoy the right to life.

Said nobody ever when it was the Arab nations bombing Israel.

This, Absolutely this

i can guarantee that not one Pro Israel poster has had anything to say about the many cruel behaviour of the IDF

Pollyputhekettleon · 22/10/2023 18:59

For those who don't know, Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005 in a peace deal. It was a year after that, in 2006, that the Gazans voted 40% for Hamas.

This is from the Hamas founding charter from 1988:

'the Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realisation of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah bless him and grant him salvation, has said:

"The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Moslems, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him. Only the Gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews." (related by al-Bukhari and Moslem).

The Avalon Project : Hamas Covenant 1988 (yale.edu)

This is a senior Hamas official in 2022:

'“We believe in what our Prophet Muhammad said: “Allah drew the ends of the world near one another for my sake, and I have seen its eastern and western ends. The dominion of my nation would reach those ends that have been drawn near me," Zahar said in the video that was published on MEMRI TV in December of 2022,

“The entire 510 million square kilometers of Planet Earth will come under [a system] where there is no injustice, no oppression, no Zionism, no treacherous Christianity and no killings and crimes like those being committed against the Palestinians, and against the Arabs in all the Arab countries, in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and other countries," he said.'
