Hello

Sorry for the silly title.

I am just excited as this month will be the first month in my life were my partner and I will trying for a baby. We have a two year old dd who was a great surprise and gift to us. I have been wanting a baby since she was about 8 months old so I have held out long enough
Because it is our first time trying I thought we could have some fun and try all the tips they say to conceive a boy. But I do not care that much about the gender as long as they are a happy, healthy baby who loves their sleep
So next week is my ovulation date. I took up twigletts advice and checked out ttc.fertilityfriend.com, you enter your last period date and it tells you your exact ovulation date with lots of tips so next weekend is our big day or shall I say weekend!!!
Its funny but since we have decided to start trying my sex drive has gone of the scale and my dh cant beleive his luck, its almost frightened him. I am like a women on a mission
So look forward to hearing from any others who are going to be trying this month and goodluck to you all!

Baby dust all around!

x

that must have been so hard bubble celbrating and grieving at once.

hmm not sure about af. I know mine seem lighter and way less painful than before I had my son.

lovecloud · 06/08/2005 21:07

hello

jane313 - hang in there!

i am sure you will see from all the other ttc threads that not many people actually get a BFP straight away, its seems to be about 4-6months at least. At least we have a good reason to have lots of sex

I am sure i was lacking zinc because since i started my pregnacare i have been all over my dh - he does not know what has hit him.

Artoo - that is good advice I will make sure i do. Well i seem to be onto it anyway as we have been bd-ing everyday. not so long ago it was once a month almost. it is true the more you do it the more you want it. since we have been having more sex we have been getting on so much better.

Anyway hope you all get a practice in tonight

does everyone know their ovulation day/s?

are you just going to go for it or follow the tips to conceive a boy or girl?

i was going to try for a boy for some fun but i am totally not fussed as i would love my dd to have a sister as i love having my sister. but now that artoo has brought that to my attention i guess i could risk conceiving at all if i dont really know my ovulation date.

bubble99 - my periods use to last up to 7 days very heavy, now they last 4-5 and are hecay for just a day or two then get so light i think it has finished.

i could not even begin to imagine how that must have effected you. but i can understand why you have this wanting for another child and i wish you all the luck. i am sure Bo will decide when to send some babydust your way!
bless him

I feel a bit exhausted at thought of the amount of sex involved. I read somewhere about you should be doing it every 2 days even when not fertile. The 7 days marathon around ovulation is enough for a month.

I've got an ovulation salvia kit (I started another thread on it) but its a bit confusing.

I tried the doing it ealry for a girl thing the first time but it would take even longer that way and I'm no spring chicken

bubble99 · 06/08/2005 21:20

OK. Some hocus-pocus that I resorted to, to TTC last time!

Carnelian (sp) crystal bracelet- Apparently good for all 'womb' things.

Pineapple juice- Apparently thins CM and makes it easier for the 'leetle feeshies' to swim through Pineapple is also recommended to try and induce labour as it thins the CM and is thought to dislodge the mucous plug in the cervix.

B Vits- Apparently extends luteal phase in normally late ovulation cycles.

Tried all of these and got pregnant the same month. Coincidence? Maybe, but I'm going to give it a go again.

Too true jane (can I call you jane?) Bittersweet to have a beautiful newborn and be crying your heart out for a stillborn baby as well.

jane313 · 06/08/2005 21:25

I'll give most things a go! Not overkeen on pineapple juice but I donlt hate like somethings. Of course you can call me Jane!

bubble99 · 06/08/2005 21:31

And thanks lovecloud. I think you're probably right. I hope that Bo can live on through a new brother or sister.

As for the whole boy/girl thing. If I'm honest I was hoping that one of my twins would be a girl. After two boys I thought there must have been a girl around somewhere! In the end I was so grateful that one of my baby boys had survived. People see me with three boys and inevitably ask if I'm going to try for a girl. I will, of course, be happy if I'm lucky enough to get pregnant again, boy or girl. But now I feel that I'd actually prefer to have a boy to give Elijah the brother he should have had.

I know what you mean jane about the time/age factor and trying for a girl. If you BD at the time of ovulation your chances of getting pregnant are increased. I was very aware of that last time when I was trying/hoping for a girl.

bubble99 · 06/08/2005 21:35

Fresh pineapple is even better. Apparently there's an enzyme in it which causes CM thinning. Freshly pressed/squeezed juice is OK, but not concentrate as the process involved destroys the enzyme. Sounds like an excuse for a Pina Colada to me.

jane313 · 06/08/2005 21:49

Can I just eat the pineapple?

bubble99 · 06/08/2005 21:58

Yes When you have the beginnings of EWCM, get chompin' girl!

Definately try and get hold of a Carnelian crystal. Load of old tosh IMO, but something worked last time and it's quite a pretty colour. I gave my Carnelian bracelet away to a friend who's TTC after I got pregnant last time. I got it for about a fiver at a 'Psychic Fair' thing that was held in a church hall last year.

QueenOfQuotes · 07/08/2005 00:55

Good luck all of you (just posting really so that bubble hadn't killed the thread )

jane313 · 07/08/2005 08:23

Whats EWCM? I presume the last 2 are cervical mucus. God, mucus is a horriblr word

jane313 · 07/08/2005 08:24

Bizarrely enough there is a crystal shop about 2 mins form my house! Have never been in there, I will now. I remember my friend who was a shiatsu (sp?) masseur had loads when she was ttc but she had ivf in in the end

bubble99 · 07/08/2005 08:50

Good Morning Jane. Ah yes, EWCM. This is egg white cervical mucus and describes CM when it is thin and stretchy and best able to allow sperm through to fertilise an egg. At the peak point of fertility during your cycle your CM should be thin and slippery rather than thicker and opaque. You'll notice it when you wipe after going for a wee, or failing that the only option is to have a good old delve around. Sorry, I hope you weren't planning to have soft poached eggs for breakfast.

I agree, mucus is not one of the prettier words in the English language. Right up there with sputum in the yuk stakes.

Try and get a carnelian bracelet or something that you can wear continuosly. It might be a load of old pudding, but who knows?

Roobedoo · 07/08/2005 11:46

Just seen Bubble and Jen's question from Friday - sorry but haven't read the rest of messages so don't know if you've had the answer, but I was prescribed clomid as a pelvic scan showed up pcos and my periods were so random it was ridiculous. GP wouldn't prescribe though - had to see a consultant. Will check in again later as DS is trying to insert his fingers in the back of the laptop! Oh, also, I don't think GPs tend to prescribe it as quite often they like to monitor you as it's very strong stuff and you could end up producing tens of eggs or even cysts so they like specialists to be involved.

Jen1209 · 07/08/2005 15:46

Hi all

AF arrived with me this morning. Have been in a real mess today. DP been brill, has gone out and bought OV kits (even got the clearblue ones, am slightly suspicious he has either been lurking on here or has done this before!) Anyways after a year of "just seeing how things go" we are now on a very serious mission!!! DP has also agreed to see the GP and come to my infertility apt at the hosp (3rd Oct, love the NHS) to get checked out too, bless him

Roobedoo - thank you so much for your answer, I have been referred to a consultant as above and will ask about the Clomid then (after a year, 8 more weeks seems nothing, it is only one more AF after this one!) I knew that some GP's do prescribe it but was worried about the monitoring side of things. Hope it brings a BFP for you very soon.

Bubble99 - v sad reading your story. Must have been so hard to grieve for Bo and enjoy Elijah at the same time. Hoping you also get some v good news soom.

Ho hum, off to devour the papers in a bit. Bought them this morning and haven't got round to them yet!

Jen x

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 07/08/2005 17:30

Bubble99 I really feel for you. I lost Philippa at 25 weeks and that was hard enough but to loose a child full term is the most tragic of things especially when you have the twin to remind you of what should have been.

Jane I am 38 and have one dd 21mths.I am desperate to concieve and did so without trying both times before. I too wonder if all the eggs have been laid but suspect its just impatience on our part and it will happen very soon for us all

JAG123 · 07/08/2005 18:21

Hi i've been watching all of the TTC threads and posted on April thread. Have been TTC for about 6 mths after having Breast Cancer(incl chemo) 4yrs ago. Only tried using opks last 2mths which did show that i was still ov (Hopefully this is a good sign). I am lucky enough to have a DD 4yrs.
I hope that we all have lots of luck and will be holding newborns May/June.

bubble99 · 07/08/2005 19:37

Good evening all.

Jen. I'm sorry to hear that AF showed up today You were expecting her weren't you? Not that it makes it any easier as I spent many months when TTC last time convincing myself that the AF symptoms I had were in fact early Pg signs. I hate the fact that the two are so similar. I'd get to CD 26 and start with the sore boobs, cramps etc and convince myself that I was Pg. Bummer.

I'm glad to hear that your DH is as committed to the TTC campaign as you are.You can ride the highs and lows together from now on. He sounds like a sweetie anyway.

See my previous posts about Vit B, pineapple and Carnelian crystal. In case you're wondering, I am the least 'New-Age' person going, so the crystal thing is totally out of character for me. But something worked for me last time and I ended up pg with twins.

bubble99 · 07/08/2005 19:39

Sorry Jen. I've just re-read your post and you have a DP. So much saucier IMO.

lovecloud · 07/08/2005 22:19

Good evening ladeez

Hope you are all feeling up to a week of making luuuuuuurve

Remember we must be babydancing as much as possible... well every two days isnt it?

I am trying to not get too excited about ttc this weekend as I should be most fertile Friday/Saturday. Seeing as this will be my first real go , it is most unlikely but you never know!!!

Need to get some pineapple in.

Also quick question, I have been on fertility friend.com and just entered my last period to get ovulation date, I have not done all the temp reasdings etc so my date will not be exact but is it possible to just go by your discharge? - sorry, yucky stuff. I read that the day your creamy discharge turns clear and stringy is "the day" so can i just go by that?

OP posts:
jane313 · 07/08/2005 22:24

bubble says something like that a few posts down.

lovecloud · 07/08/2005 22:34

ah yes - sorry

i thought i had seen all the new entries, there are a whole load that i had skipped by accident.

well at least i know what i am looking for now.

does the discharge start a few days before only? i have never really monitored it before, today I have none, does it start creamy, turn clear and back to creamy?

OP posts:
jane313 · 07/08/2005 22:37

not sure sorry. I was monitoring mine using this salvia testing kit thing and didn't look at anything else. Am sure someone will know.

Roobedoo · 08/08/2005 09:25

Lovecloud - we too will be BD on Fri/Sat/Sun if all goes to plan on Friday, when I'm having my pelvic scan. If I've got between 1-4 follicles ready to pop they will give me an injection to release the eggs then we have to go for it. If there are more than 4 then we're not even allowed to hold hands! It's exciting, but hardly romantic!
