prehapes we need this mermaid

barbie1 · 19/04/2010 11:25

on the scan front i would be inclined to say wait til you are 8 weeks, a tummy scan will show heartbeat then...if not you might have to have the dildocam!

iggypiggy · 19/04/2010 11:26

A week today for a scan maybe Mermaid? Or you could go now? Cos am guessing with shorter cycles you might be more than 6 + 3 (is that right?!)

4everhopeful · 19/04/2010 11:37

Hello lovelies good to see u back, mermaid i have to differ from barbie (sorry!) & reckon end of this wk, beg of next, u will drive urself mental otherwise & dildocam now an old friend anyway!

mermaidspurse · 19/04/2010 11:50

barbie that is just what we need8 weeks, she says looking wistfully at the calender, tempting..

that's what I thought about short cycles ig but my brain has frozen up and won't think properly about it.

ok I'll ring up in a bit,the nhs is gearing up for lunch at the mo. Going for next week, can't even get on a plane to escape!

Yes I am driving myself mental and have made my bits sore from 'dabbing' every five minutes

iggypiggy · 19/04/2010 12:02

I went at 7 + 3 and at 7 + 6 for my scans... and saw heartbeat both times - so next week I fink is good

MummyLovesSadie · 19/04/2010 13:33

I'm back! It's been so frustrating not being to chat to you all. My Mac is still being repaired (bloody thing is costing me £220) so I'm having to steal dh's when he's not looking! Basically what happened last Friday is that my lovely consultant was, well, lovely! He had my notes from when I had dd & the nuchal measurement of 1.3mm was the same for her too which reassured me loads. He said that with someone as ancient as me (or words to that effect) it is really difficult to not be on the borderline with regards to odds. He made it clear that he thought I shouldn't have had the second blood test & he said that looking at the 12 week scan he thought I had nothing to worry about. He said that as extra reassurance for me he would arrange for a scan at Kings College hospital where they have an acclaimed department of pre-natal diagnosis run by Kypros Nicolaides. I've read that he can look at a scan & tell whether a baby has downs or not, he is also in charge of the Fetal Medicine Centre in Harley Street. My scan is next Wednesday & although I'm not quite back to my 'boing' status I'm hoping I will be after that.

Mermaid in the early days I also made myself sore with all the unnecessary wiping ! I vote for a scan at 7 weeks, that is when I always have my 1st one. I've just had a bowl of your lovely watercress soup, I'm totally addicted & I've made it every week for the last few weeks!

4ever & Cupcake am I right in thinking you both have a scan tomorrow - good luck to both of you. It won't be long now, the finish line is in sight for you both.

Monkey I'm glad you are home & the worst of it is finally over. Please post when you feel ready as we miss you.

Barbie it looks like you got home just in time, mind you I'm sure you wouldn't have minded being stranded over here for a week or so hey?

Curly cranial osteopathy works wonders for colic. We have a wonderful local lady that treated my dd & lots of my friends babies in just one session so it might be worth investigating.

Neeko thanks for keeping me sane this weekend. Well done on the double-cream milk front & managing to build dd2 up to an impressive 9lb 10.5oz - awe-inspiring boobage!

Hope everyone else is doing well & enjoying the lovely weather.

We picked up my new car on Friday & dh & I keep arguing over who's turn it is to drive! It is a fab car but they forgot to put the dvd screens in the back of the headrests so they are building us a new car from scratch & we'll get it in 10 weeks! We will of course be hammering it in this car as we have a trip to Scotland planned & we intend on doing as many miles as we can in the next 10 weeks!

Neeko · 19/04/2010 14:05

Hi all. Just popping in when I can. DD1 at nursery, DD2 -also known as milk monster- is feeding -again - and I'm typing with the wrong hand.
Mermaid the sooner the better, I think. The sand will be there when you get back.

MLS visit to Scotland? Are you coming to see your cyber nieces? I have everything crossed for Wed.

4ever and cupcake happy mat leave and good luck for the scans.

barbie as a beauty therapist you are not allowed to cheat or skip bits !

Curly the crying is awful. Big hugs to curlygirl. How old is she now?

blue thanks for all the text advice. I'll be back for more soon.

moon 2ww yet?

lbm are you watching Grey's on 5?

Sabs what classes are you doing this week?

vjay how's the crawling going?

Sorry. My time is up. Love to everyone else.

ThePFJ · 19/04/2010 17:01

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I am in a fowl mood today. I went out with some friends for a birthday night out. So my friend Alison who is quiet is drinking with me and we are having a lovely time. She doesnt get out much and neither do I. So the birthday boy introduces us to his other friend Vicki when she arrives and I try to be as nice to her as possible. In fact I AM nice to her, very nice. She isnt drinking though and neither is the birthday boy (Mark) because they insist on driving. I didnt drink all that much at all, but me and Alison were a little merry. Anyways, she seems like she is having a good time, and is very talkative and chats to me for ages. However upon leaving the restaurant before she drives home she sends a text to Mark (Alisons Husband) saying I am a bad influence on Alison and basically being extremely judgemental. I have been angry all day. Why are people so two-faced? Why did Mark read out the text to me and then not say anything about it himself? Why are people so mean and judgemental?? WHY AM I SO ANGRY ABOUT IT????!!!

I am too nice to people. I thought she was quite nice and intelligent at the time.

Grrr etc. Are my hormones raging???

Sorry.. needed to vent. Thank you. xxxx

Q&A - Hugs

mermaidspurse · 19/04/2010 17:25

pfj people are buggers and imho all this modern communication especially texts are the work of the very devil in such scenarios as you have outlined.
stand tall girl she obviously had ishoos.

Come and drink in the greenhouse it's much safer

jools omg I have just had a thought.... your holiday so hope you are going to get to go.

neeko I missed it bother knew there was somrthing I had to watch. btw that is a fab weight

mls I am so pleased that you are sounding so upbeat a lovely consultant is just what you needed. I am keeping all my fingers and toes crossed. I had quite forgotten about watercress soup but I have a big thing for curry at the moment and cheese tosties.

moon so am thinking of you at the mo. I am collecting tin cans and ribbon and am busy thinking what else to slap tastefully decorate your car with.

VJay · 19/04/2010 17:34

mls and your cyber nephews, Ajay and B?

OP posts:
VJay · 19/04/2010 18:02

mermaid I had a tummy scan at 7 weeks with Ajay and could see his hb then.

neeko Ajay is doing a kind of lunge type crawling thing , he bunches his knees up under him, then lunges forward with his arms and lands on his chest, then repeats the process until he gets to where he wants to be, it's ace

pfj just ignore it hun, you know you're not a bad influence, it's just someone else's crappy opinion. But I understand your annoyance, I can take things far too personally, but am trying my hardest to toughen up.

mls good luck for your scan when you get it, and you cupcake and 4ever tomorrow.

monkeybumsmum · 19/04/2010 18:38

Hello, am back...

Can't be long as left ds eating his supper in front of Fireman Sam [bad mummy emoticon] but just wanted to say a quick hi and that I am in the land of the living...just. Had awful time last week - dh thought I was having breakdown, psychiatrist was called and wanted to admit me to psych ward and dh scared dad rigid by ringing him to tell him I was going mad. Then I fainted in the night, was literally picked up by the nurses, have massive bruising and probable broken rib.... Am feeling much brighter today though, am deffo not mad but am trying to work through lots of emotions.

Anyway, enough about me as that's not what I came on for - I wanted to say how thrilled I was mermaid to hear of your wonderful news and how I hope with all my heart that this is it for you. Am thinking of you constantly. You must be terrified, but at least if you're using progesterone it's not quite so frightening going to the loo. I relaxed once I started using it and stopped knicker checking. I think you should go for a scan at around 7 weeks as you should have an answer then. Fingers crossed sweetie xxx

MLS Good luck for the scan next wednesday - have quickly skimmed through, and it sounds quite hopeful that there is nothing to worry about We had much worse odds than you, and no nasal bone so it was pretty obvious our poor darling was not going to make it. Am really hoping that everything's okay.

Really must go as ds has probably managed to spread curry all over the lounge by now. Love to all as usual, 4ever hope you're holding up okay, and I'll be back soon! xxx

monkeybumsmum · 19/04/2010 18:44

PS PFJ Poor you with that girl - she does certainly sound like she has 'ishoos' as mermaid so wonderfully put it. Ignore, ignore, ignore - some people have nothing better to do than to be mean. She sounds to me like she's a little insecure, and so we should feel sorry for her really. Sending you a big hug - it can really knock your confidence having someone be nasty about you xxx

BlueMoon1981 · 19/04/2010 19:21

monkey its lovely to have you back, sounds like you've had such a tough time, and how you manage to sound so upbeat and have time for everyone else on here i will never know, you are so brave and you deserve so much happiness after what you've been through xx

not really stopping, lots of love to everyone, i am a little at the moment, back soon

VJay · 19/04/2010 19:42

Hi monkey you are amazing, that's all I can say really, I think of you spending time with your wee angel, and I just well up. You are so brave and strong, and I wish you all the luck in the world for whatever the future holds for you Oh and I hope ds hasn't smeared curry all over your lounge

moon so sorry you are feeling , do you want to talk about it?

Is anybody watching glee tonight, or is it just me?

OP posts:
monkeybumsmum · 19/04/2010 19:43

Ah Moon thank you for your kind words. I really hope you're okay - it's so very difficult at times isn't it... We shall get there in the end lovely.

DS now in bed and have just been very naughty and treated myself to a couple of things from Boden. Oops. Maybe I should play the mad line with dh when he finds out

monkeybumsmum · 19/04/2010 19:45

X posts VJay Thank you... No curry smeared thank goodness and he actually ate it all amazingly. Hope things are good with you and Ajay, bless him with his crawling technique xxx

BlueMoon1981 · 19/04/2010 20:03

thanks vjay but i am ok, its not really the time for woe is me when so many people on here are having their own struggles.

VJay · 19/04/2010 20:11

moon sweetie, if you need to talk I am here

monkey good on ya for treating yourself, and good little monkeybum for eating all his dinner. I call my ds's monkeybums too

OP posts:
GracieGirl · 19/04/2010 20:20

monkey welcome back, I've missed you! VJay is right, I too am constantly amazed at your ability to think of others whilst going through such a hard time yourself. Also very pleased to hear there's no curry splattered round your lounge.

Moon we always have time to listen to you - come on tell us all about it or I'll go and find you a wedding car that's worse than those awful smart cars!! Link for those who missed them

Mermaid I had a transvaginal scan at 7.5 weeks this time as its quicker to find the baby and I couldn't bear the extra few seconds wait whilst they searched with tummy scan for that strong heart beat.

MummyLovesSadie · 19/04/2010 21:01

Yay Monkey is back! Eeek at having a psychiatrist called & double eeek at you fainting & getting those injuries. You've been through enough to make the most level-headed person go a bit loony but I'm glad you are feeling more on top of things. I hope you could feel the love & support we were all sending you across the miles. Each & every one of us was devastated by what you had to go through.

Moon please come back & talk to us. When I have my Mac back I'm going to add a pic of me in my wedding dress as it was a kind of floaty empire line dress that I had made. I could only find strapless, boned-bodice type wedding dresses in the shops & they were all the opposite of what I wanted. Also keep meaning to say at your description of yourself! I never imagined you as a pale blonde-type, I pictured you with dark hair.

Neeko I'm trying to persuade dh to have a golf day whilst we are up there so I can escape for a few hours !

Vjay I'm liking the sound of the 'lunge-crawl', my personal favorite is the 'bottom-hop-crawl'!

Gracie where the hell did you find those cars???!

Mermaid I wish you hadn't mentioned cheese toasties - I'm going to have to dig out the sandwich toaster from the dusty recesses of a far flung corner tomorrow!

ThePFJ I can see how that text from that silly woman would have ruined your evening. I'd love to be one of those people who could shrug things like that off but I'd be really upset too. As much as we all say we'd don't care what other people think about us, I think we do & if we meet someone new and we've been really nice to them & they don't like us for some reason, then of course it's upsetting. All you can do is try & rise above it & not let it fester.

Right, my small window on dh's laptop is coming to an end.

ThePFJ · 19/04/2010 21:40

You are all completely right of course. Am trying to relax tonight, watching the final of Hell's Kitchen USA. I love it when Ramsey swears at them all!!

My two cats are currently sitting in the middle of the livingroom taking turns to play 'tetherball' with the string on my little boys 'Cranky Crane' from Thomas the Tank Engine! Mad cats.

bluesatinsash · 19/04/2010 21:41

Evening lovelies,

Hello and big welcome back hug to Monkey. I salute your strength and am in awe of your bounce backability. You have gone through one of the worst things any woman can go through and I'm not surprised you felt you were going mad . Be kind to yourself and take it slowly and yes purchases from Boden do help .

Vjay - I LOVE Glee!!!! Its my Friday night treat, I sky+ it and Grey's from durng the week and watch them with my glass of red. I love the songs and Mr Shu and Sue Sherman is a hoot! Loving the mental image of Ajay lunging across the floor - atta boy!

MLS - Really glad you've got your scan and having the top guy do it is all the better .

cupcake and 4ever - thinking about you both tomorrow. 4ever glad your last day was and you got lots of pressies and send offs and $$$ . Remember back in Summer when your colleague with a similar EDD (for your 4th lo) was having her last day and you were so at her presents and send off and here you are - you got your day I hope you took a moment to see how far you have come.

mermaidsixweekseek! - I had internal scan with DS1 at 5+3 and saw hb and 6+3 with DS2 and saw hb. It can be tough though getting scanned so early as you are just waiting for it all to go wrong, especially those of us who have had more than one mc BUT from a mental health point of view I couldn't have survived the early weeks of this pg without early regular scans.

Neeko - top boobage for sure . hope you are going easy on youself missy and not doing any dusting whilst feeding H. Have you got Tesco.com on the go yet?

Moon - please come and talk that's what we're here for. Unlike MLS I always pictured you as a blonde and yes having seen MLS wedding photos on fb I can vouch for the empire grecian look .

PFJ - I'm thinking that 'vicki' is a tad jealous of you no? As the Italian's would say forget about it whilst flipping your hand off your shin and ordering that she is sent to 'swim with the fishes'

Curly - sorry to hear you are with curlygirl's colic. It does ease up once they learn how to break their wind and their digestive systems mature a little. Ben is 4 months on Friday and still has unsettled feeds but less and less and even they aren't as bad as he can burp much better. He still projectiles his milk sometimes but think its due to my flow being v. fast and him being v. greedy.

Barbie - hope little D has settled and not as grumpy - bless her! Was at you being 5ft 3 - you always looked taller in your photoes - must have been wearing those stilts

Hey to everyone else, I've put a new photo of Bennyboy up as finally managed to capture him smiling. Its his christening this Sunday so the robes are being starched as I speak, pity I can be starched too and spray tanned and slimmed down and toned up - oh well .

bluesatinsash · 19/04/2010 21:44

err chin not shin - not that would look odd
