Hi neeko great news about your friend.
I do plan on getting into Grey's at some point - a friend has all the DVDs - but I have so much else to watch too (including the beautiful complete West Wing collection that was my favourite Christmas pressie )
Thanks, I totally am going to try to get a physio apptmt but seems Cardiff is a bit crap about offering stuff like that. Everyone on MN seems to be able to see physios/get scans/have checkups whenever they want but I struggle to even get my required times with my midwife.
Called today for my 25 week app and can't get in til 26 weeks because nobody told me I should have booked it straight after my 16wk appointment. Feel so pissed off with it all. Sorry, rant over ...ooh, will def try and get to Asda too thanks.

Dh and I going for all you can eat Chinese tonight so that should lift me out of the dumps!

scamperT · 22/01/2010 23:13

Thank you for the welcome back!

sabs so lovely to hear about Saara, who arrived just 11 days after Genna. Still feel like I'm making it up as I go along 4 months on! No semblance of a routine yet altho just getting her used to the concept of falling asleep in a cot rather than on me

blue am impressed you are tackling the thank you cards already! Where's the best place to put piccies on mumsnet?

MLS I don't think I know you in rl?? I live in deptford and am married to a fella called Quentin (yes really!) which must narrow it down a bit!!! Apologies if I do actually know you in rl after all - let me know!

vjay wow - you have brain cells left over for study! Its all I can manage to buy stuff for dinner and put a load of washing on, so weldone you

cupcake hello, and congrats on being bigpants! Hopefully at 23 weeks you're getting some energy back? Ah, West Wing...have just finished series 2 and love it. Can recommend saving some for post baby viewing if you can, its perfect

Big hellos and waves to everyone. To those who arrived after I scampered off, I joined during 2008 after a miscarriage in January and then another in July. By December I was losing my sanity with ttc and had a fairly miserable xmas, little did I know that Genna was already on the way. I disappeared because I spent pretty much the whole pregnancy not believing she would make it...but here she is, and its good to be back.

Hope you all have good weekends xxx

barbie1 · 23/01/2010 05:35

Hi scamper welcome back and also welcome to another cyber niece!....Glad you found your way back here, its nice that we have managed to keep the same name going through all of the threads, means that we are easy to find again if one does leave for short while

vjay more kudo's for you in attempting to study again...glad to know you will still be lurking and not disappearing completely, ill probably have more insane questions to ask once babybarbie finally makes an appearance

cupcake lets stick together in the total ignorance that comes with being a first time mummy no talk of poo, sick, massage or any other yukky thing, lets talk about nice thinks like little socks, teddies and tiny clothes ...see isnt that so much better?

neeko im so glad to hear that your friend and her lo are doing well, cant believe she is still in hospital though Im sure both of your lo will grow up bestest of friends!

curly any news? contractions? anything?????

Mls are you buried under the enormas stack of opk sticks still?

Well yesterday i used up the remaining of my excess enery and went hospital shopping for big pants, long nighties and nursing bra's...giving birth isnt glamourous is it? i look about 80 in my long nightie and the bras dont do much either
So now my bag is pack, the pram is washed and assembled and everything is ready.

I missed my 36 week appt due to the doctors changing the date so now im going on monday and will be more like 37 weeks and nearly considered ful term yikes!!!!!

Hope you all have a good weekend, im off to the pool, my bump is nearly bue from the lack of sun, i look like something of avatar!

back soon xxx

bluesatinsash · 23/01/2010 11:10

Happy Saturday!

Scamper - you need to go to your 'my mumsnet' and upload some photos + a little bit about yourself..

Cupcake - West Wing is the greatest drama ever made (with Grey's a close second Neeko ). I loved it and have watched all seven series four times. The story lines, dialogue, characters - oh man I could go on and on...

Neeko - well we watched it last night didn't really breath the whole way through and did NOT expect the death to be who it was . did take a moment to savour the fact I was watching it ucuddling my brand new DS2 . Bringon the next 25 episodes. How is your back today? And yours cupcake? I know its cold comfort but it does literally disappear once lo is here as does heartburn, piles and sore and swollen fango (well unless you have a natural delivery .

Barbie - nearly term - OMG! Hope your tummy's tanning up nicely . You seem all set

Talking of which where are the other due in Febs? Curly must be on mat leave by now no ?

Later all xx

Lionstar · 23/01/2010 11:49

Hi Scamper welcome back and congratulations! I LOVE the name Genevieve, it was on my list, as was Jenna as a seperate name. DP was a little unsure and fortunatley I didn't have to beat him to death with a baby name book as we ended up having a boy on 27th September.

cupcake I'm at the thought of you in a moses basket. It's a great tip to warm the mattress by removing it. Sadly DS grew out of his moses basket at 13 weeks, he is now in the big cot - don't fancy squeezing that mattress in bed with us . Good luck with the house-hunting.

lbm thanks for the headsup with the sheepskin too.

VJay I am in awe of your studying with 2 little ones, it's all I can do to cope with the housework at the moment!

Moon, hoping things are looking brighter today, just to let you know I'm thinking of you.

Also 4ever, hope you weathered the day of the funeral and are feeling on top of things now. How is that cottonwool suit doing?

Also monkey so very sorry to hear about your mum, sending you lots of hugs.

Jools lots of jiggy vibes for you, have fun!!

Barbie - almost full term, Wow!! We'll all be on labour alert from now on.

Speaking of which, hope gracie is managing OK

Big waves to everyone else. We're off to a wedding today, I have to go and wrestle DD into a dress in a minute - a less girly girl you've never come across. It will consist of lots of cajoling and plenty of bribery. I'll also have to take trousers for her to change into before she goes stir crazy with all the pink

Joolsiam · 23/01/2010 13:10

A belated welcome back from me too Scamper and congratulations - another fan of your chosen name here

I'm still TTC'ing and hoping for a miracle, but beginning to wonder when to stop and get on with the other things in life.

Am missing Curly and the excitement is building for Barbie )

Lion - your jiggy vibes worked Went to the gym this morning and seduced DP when I got back.... MLS - like you, I worry about whether DP will rise to the occasion at the right time - have a big smile on my face now CD13 and lashings of EWCM. I've been drinking loads of grapefruit juice at breakfast in my hotel aswell. Back there Sunday night (no rest for the wicked), so I'm hoping I will OV tomorrow ....

Right, off for a shower

cupcakefairy · 23/01/2010 13:42

Morning sunny ladies

Loving the West Wing love..I've only watched the first 2 seasons too scamper and LOVE it..you're right blue that it is just genius, such good writing and wit and just fab
(Btw Scamper Quentin is a wicked name, love it! )

Back is still bad..we are off to the baby outlet in Newport in a minute to buy a dream genii pillow on buddha's recommendation as just can't cope with the pain at night anymore and hoping it will help! Gonna get a birthing ball too Neeko if we find a cheap one

Barbie I lol'ed at your suggestion to only talk about little socks and teddies- definitely joining that club! love the image of you in your old lady nightie! Ooh, so exciting you're not far off now!

And YAY jools for the bd action getting the pompoms out for you!

iggy, 4ever, moon, curly and our other quiet ladies, thinking of you all xxx

Here's a bfp vjay As you can imagine I am in complete shock and can't stop crying considering the circumstances. Wasn't going to come back onto MN yet but just feel I cannot cope with all this at the moment.

So sorry for not having read through any previous posts, but will try to catch up. We have a steady stream of visitors at the mo, so finding time is not easy. I feel like I'm going mad...

VJay · 23/01/2010 15:59

oh monkey what a lot to have to try and cope with, we are here to try and help you . Firstly, congratulations on your BFP, that really is wonderful news for you and your dh .
Secondly, I'm so sorry about your mum. It must be such an incredibly confusing time for you right now and I imagine your hormones aren't helping one bit. You're not going mad but I imagine this is all messing with your head a bit. i am thinking of you and am here for a while if you want to talk xxx

OP posts:
barbie1 · 23/01/2010 17:14

Monkey congratulations, slightly bitter sweet i can imagen but also for you

Take it easy and come back when you are ready or want to talk xxx

cupcakefairy · 23/01/2010 17:41

EEEP monkey, congratulations - yay that the small panters party worked for you last month! But as others have said, must feel very bittersweet and confusing so glad you did decide to post though instead of staying away...just know you can say whatever you want here!

Seeing bq's name on that list reminds me we haven't seen her for a while either...hope you're ok lovely x

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2010 17:56

Thanks for being so lovely you three. I found out yesterday and just went into complete shock and was hysterical. Cannot imagine how on earth I'm going to do it without mum being around. It's bad enough thinking about how ds will never get to know her properly and will probably not even remember her much, but it breaks my heart to think that we might have a baby that she'll never meet.
Also, I know I'm supposed to be reporting to the recurrent mc clinic straight away and I won't get there until I'm 6 weeks (if I get that far) Haven't a clue whether I should be taking anything, am just so confused.

So sorry again for the lack of responding to other posts. I feel like I've been thrust into some kind of parallel universe that I can't escape from

VJay · 23/01/2010 18:09

monkey start taking folic acid at least then maybe ring the mc clinic explain what's going on and ask what you should do next and stop apologising about not reading all the posts!!!!! Take it as easy as you can xxxxx

OP posts:
MummyLovesSadie · 23/01/2010 18:56

Firstly Monkey I can 100% identify with what you are going through right now. In January 2007 my sister suddenly died, four days later I found out I was pregnant with dd. I didn't know whether to grieve of be elated. Every time & felt happy to be pregnant I then felt guilty to be feeling happy. It's such a contradiction of two emotions that are polar opposites that it makes you feel like you have been physically & emotionally run over by a truck. My sister's son is now close to my dd as I think he feels an affinity with her & he (quite rightly) feels that a little bit of his mum went into making his cousin. I always think of my dd as my little miracle as even though she was no bigger than an apple pip, she brought hope & happiness to those all around her where all there had been was sadness & grief. Maybe when the shock has sank in a bit for you you might feel the same way?

Secondly, Scamper I'm SO glad you are not the person I thought you were! It's most bizarre though as I know someone who's name begins with T who had a daughter called Genevieve last Sept after a previous mc. I'm sure her husband isn't called Quentin though!

Bedtime for dd, will be back later lovely ladies.

littlebellsmum · 23/01/2010 19:49

Hello lovely ladies!

monkey Congratulations on the BFP, it is wonderful news but probably not what you need at the moment. Hope things are going as well as they can at home

Neeko and blue - please stop with all the Greys talk. I loooooove Greys Anatonmy and am gutted that it is no longer on Five. When we moved house, we had to get a freeview dish just so that I could get Greys!. And to add insult to injury, they have just started advertising that the new series in on Living... But, there is a silver lining, I have just discovered that you can rent them on lovefilm.com and so, I will be taking up the offer of the free subscription!!
blue I hope you have done the baby announcements now!

Barbie very impressive! Have you had your hair done and any beauty treatments you want? I had a pedicure done before dd was born as it was so hot and my feet were horrible and unreachable! Also, on the day that I had finished all my pre baby jobs, I went and bought some material to cover some cushions for the garden. 6 years later, the covers are still not done as DD arrived the next day!

Scamper Hello - I also arrived after you had gone. Congratulations on your DD- I also love the name Genna/ Jenna and it would be on the list for my LO but it's a bit too close to my own name. You will learn that we have a J theme going in our family and I have about 17 weeks to think of a girls name begining with J!

cupcake your back sounds awful - hope the pillow helps. I don't think it's much different anywhere with mw appts. My 16 week was 17 weeks as she was so busy at 16 weeks and being a very paid back third time mum, I just waited another week. The downside of being a laid back third timer is that I also don't get another appt untill 28 weeks, which is a very long time away and LO has been a bit quiet recently - I really wanted to borrow 4evers doppler for reassurance!

vjay like all the others, I am in awe of your level of focus. Trying to do anything with tiny baby is an achievement, never mind studying!

lion Hope the wedding went well and you fight with the dress worked. I so was not going to dress my daughter in pink but now, she wears nothing else! Maybe I'll have better luck second time round!

jools Lets hope the suprise seduction worked - how you managed it after three gym classes, I don't know. I do note how you didn't mention you , ahem, "other" exercise on face book

Hope that gracie and curly have some news for us soon and it must be time for more bfps now that Monkey has started the trend.

4everhopeful · 23/01/2010 20:16

Stupid phone

MummyLovesSadie · 23/01/2010 21:19

4ever you are back, how are you? I hope you are snuggled up in your cotton wool suit.

Jools it's such a relief when you manage just one successful bd huh? I have discovered something else that really does work (better than the other stuff I told you about) but what with your dp having epilepsy it might not be a good option for you. I hope you will soon be joining me on the 2ww.

Cupcake what about something like this for your back pain? I think this is where I got my ball from, it's super cheap & you really do need the hand pump as you'll have it inflated in next-to-no time (it's great for blowing up balloons too)!

Lion hope the wedding was tantrum-free for you.

Blue I wish my piles had disappeared after delivery but no, they are still here two years on!

Barbie did you buy a nightie for the birth & a nightie for when you are cleaned up? Some of my friends gave birth starkers & said they didn't care. I however, am a prude & not only wore a nightie but a support bra too..... well I didn't want my 36E's swinging round like udders did I???!

Neeko so glad your friends little boy is doing well, I bet he is still tiny though. I'm sure you will be a tower of strength for her (just like you have been for me) when he finally comes home & the reality hits her that this tiny little life is now solely dependent on her.

Moon please let us know you are ok.

Same with you BQ

We test-drove a couple of cars today. I really wanted the Ford Kuga & dh really wanted the Peugeot 3008. After we dove both of them I think we are going to go for the Peugeot - right well that's the family car sorted out, now all we need is the baby!

Big Saturday night waves to you all.

MummyLovesSadie · 23/01/2010 21:23

Sorry 4ever x post. Of course you will be nervous about your scan. Try to think how far you have come rather than how far you have to go.

VJay · 24/01/2010 10:58

hi just checking up on monkey hope you are ok sweetie

Gotta go Ajay is calling xx

OP posts:
Joolsiam · 24/01/2010 11:27

Hi Monkey I hope the news is sinking in and things seem brighter today.

It would help me in your position to think of the circle of life - one life starts as another ends and the best and most precious parts of your mum will be part of your precious cargo. Your emotions must be in overload - just take things slow and don't bottle anything up x x x

Ovulating today from my "lucky" side - ie I've only ever had a BFP when I can feel ovulation .... Aching and walking funny today after my evil sadistic instructor really put us through it in legs bums and tums yesterday ! I have to be in Bridgend for a 9am meeting, so am packing to travel up tonight - will leave a bit earlier so I have time to us the sauna in the hotel and ease those tired muscles ... (or would you - on day 1 of the two week wait ??)

I think one of my cats is trying to prepare me for motherhood - gotta run to clear up sick and diarrhea - yuk. Back later

barbie1 · 24/01/2010 16:22

jools what a lovely post, i like the whole circle of life thought

As for you young lady, enjoy the sauna...relaxing wont do you any harm at all. Just dont get to the stage where you are dehydrated and passing out! For starters its not a good look!

Lets hope it feel is your lucky side the you ovulate from this month, i have every crossed for you!

mls i laughed at you being a prude imagen if we all did ever meet up, would we be able to look one another in the eye without remembering something embarassing we had written....I bought 2 night dresses, just in case one gets dirty. Then after i will will be returning to the uniform of choice for a slummy mummy, trackie bottoms and t shirt!

For some reason i had the urge to call the hospital today, just to check things over and thank goodness i did i told them the doctor i was planning to use would no longer be avalible to deliver as she has left dubai so i would be using an onsight doctor, i was then told that i could only do so if i have been having my ante natal appt there with them!!!! i have managed to get around having my last two appt there so i have to go on tues.....

Anyways hope you all had a good weekend, im off to eat, im starving!!!
