4everhopeful · 10/01/2010 14:19

Just posting now, was gonna do it later... Woke up feeling very crappy that its 4yrs today since my dad died, knots in my tummy & full of anxiety. Got the most beautiful text from lovely Neeko that meant the world cos none of my so called RL friends remember or acknowledge it.. Its very lonely. It has always been since the moment he died, just me, my DH & my mum. I was just thinking how very crap it is that as his only child I never got to make him a grandad, but did manage a smile at the thought that he is a grandad in heaven to our 4 angel babies...

Then I called my mum to say we'd be round to let off balloons in her back garden by my dads tree where some of his ashes are, and she told me that last night, her only remaining sister, my lovely aunty Peggy died last night... Just want to get round to my mums with DH asap, luckily my half sister came from worcs to stay with my mum a few days ago so she is not alone.. I feel pretty numb & low though, I cant believe it really, I never even got to tell her about the baby & I know how pleased she would of been..

As the lovely Barbie suggested, a nice way to mark my dads anniversary would be to upgrade to big pants so Im doing it now in case I dont get a chance later.. (and thank you sweetie for remembering, and while Im at it Happy 30th Birthday for tomorrow lovely lady.. xx)

So in memory of my wonderful lovely Daddy who I miss dearly:

oh 4ever i just shed a quiet tear for you reading your post, i dont quite know what to say, the shit just never stops does it. agree with the others that your dad would be so so proud of you. hope you and your mum can get through this tough time by looking forward to the arrival of your lo. thinking of you lots xx

and oh jools as well, i feel so crap for you, i had hoped it was your turn. at least you now know (sorry if that sounds cold, its not meant to) and can get on with more baby making once af is over. lets get mls and monkey back for another drinking session.

littlebellsmum · 10/01/2010 19:44

Jools Bugger, bugger, bugger - more chocolate for you and some of the baileys from my cupboard, please

4ever How horrible for you and your poor mum. However it is wonderful to see you in big pants and with a due date - your dad would indeed be very proud.
Your due date is my eldest nieces birthday

barbie happy birthday for tomorrow - hope the present is something nice and sparkly!!

neeko I knew you'd love the assembly story!

Hi to everyone else!

GracieGirl · 10/01/2010 20:19

Jools I'm so sorry. I hope you are snuggled on the sofa eating chocolate with your DP. Sending you more chocolate and lots of hairstrokes.

Curly thanks for your text earlier, I was heading upstairs for a quick sneak onto Mumsnet as soon as I finished my lunch. But I started with a run of Braxton Hicks which panicked my Mum who was round helping me with DIY jobs. I had about an hours worth and they were coming quite regularly so my Mum kidnapped me and took me to her house where there's no internet. I've just been allowed home now as DH will be home from work in an hour.

Just going to read back on the last 2 days of the thread, back shortly.

4everhopeful · 11/01/2010 07:13

Thanks to all those with the lovely comments yesterday, it meant alot, im a wobbly weeble today ... X x x x x Just had to come on before 'work' to say Happy 30th Birthday to the very lovely Barbie, you already have the best present in the world in your tummy... X x x x x

barbie1 · 11/01/2010 07:14

Hello all,

Thankyou for all the birthday messages...i was well and truely spoilt by my dh
Cant believe what a difference a year can make, this time last year i was waking up in a freezing cold newcastle, with 3 men in my house packing to leave for dubai, very little money due to bad propery purchase, desperatly unhappy about not having baby/ being pregnant and generally down on my luck.....so small panters fret not, it can and will change for you too!

Dh made me cry by buying a card from the lo...he wrote

'hello mummy, i shall be with you soon, and i cant wait to give you a big smile and a kiss, happy birthday from me xx

Oh dear its set me off again!

4ever congrats on joining the big panters, its much nicer to have more room to stretch in sorry about your mum's sister im sure both her and your dad will be keeping each other company and stock piling the champagne ready to toast your lo when she arrives....

jools Can the tablets you are on be the cause of such a heavy af? i hope your body manages to settle down soon enough and the dp is looking after you.....and that the cat is now clean!

gg i think lo is soon to make his or her's apperance! I cant believe you are having strong contractions already...its a sign! get that hospital bag pack pronto! I dont think i have had any braxton hicks does that mean im in for a long wait/ labour????

bluemoon are you attempting the drive to work today??

Im off to sort out some more stuff for the house move this thursday.....i will be around most of the day so speak to you all soon xxx

barbie1 · 11/01/2010 07:15

hey weeble thankyou for the message....pls dont worry about work, once you get there you will be fine, think of what is growing inside your tummy....nothing else in the world matters apart from her....xxx

barbie1 · 11/01/2010 07:18

Can someone please forward the list of names and contact numbers for you all...its times like this when i wish i could just you to let you know someone cares...4ever i wish i had your number now

Some did forward me the mail once but it was the email from hoping but didnt contain any numbers...

MummyLovesSadie · 11/01/2010 07:29

4ever sorry to hear about your Auntie, what timing. Good luck for work today, take deep breaths. You'll be absolutely fine once you get there & dare I say it, you might actually enjoy it?

Barbie happy birthday, have a lovely day in the sunshine. I didn't get braxtons either, my dd was just two days later than expected & my labour was only about 14 hours. Keep massaging your perineum & if you are not already, start taking raspberry leaf tablets to strengthen your contractions.

Well mission bd was successful in the mls household last night . Just two more like that & I'll be on the 2ww! Really looking forward to my acupuncture tonight, no more snow here so it's all going to plan.

mermaidspurse · 11/01/2010 08:15

happy birthday barbie Glad you have had a lovely day full of sparkles.

anniebigpants · 11/01/2010 11:05

Hello ladies, just popping on quickly while i get chance, Oli at nursery and Ellis having a nap.

jools-Sending you a big hug, im so sorry this is happening to you, im keeping everything tightly crossed for you and im sure you will get your sticky BFP by Spring. Hope the AF pains arent too bad.

4ever-Sorry to hear about your Auntie, how sad. I hope yesterday wasnt too painful for you, if you are anything like me then i know how upsetting the anniversaries of the death of your dear Dad will be. I hope work goes well for you, and you gets lots of lovely congratulations about your pregnancy.
It is so lovely to see you on the big panters list, oh and your due date is 3 days after my big 40 birthday!

Barbie-Happy birthday and glad your DH is spoiling you, that was a lovely touch sending you the card from your Lo, i think its a girl by the way.

MLS-lovely to hear you sounding chirpy!

Hello to everyone else, gotta go as little man is stirring.

BuddhaBellySaggyPants · 11/01/2010 12:21

4ever Glad you like the look of the pillow, I'm still using mine now, can't bear to part with it Unfortunately E isn't enjoying my (.)(.) as we had to move to FF when he was 4.5 wks old due to our latching problems, but he has started to put on weight and seems more content, so although it broke my heart to stop BFing I know it was the right decision for us. So proud of your level headed thoughts on your redundancy, bad timing but as you say could be a blessing in disguise. Hope it goes well first day back and loved the tribute to your Dad very fitting and made me cry So sorry to hear about your aunt, I bet your Mum is in pieces especially at this time of year
LBM Lol at you explaining POS I think you should share how you did that? And then I want your explanation on the baby too
Neeko Glad to hear your DD enjoyed nursery, one small step and all that Barbie Happy birthday old bird Hope you are being spoilt rotten with regards to names I like in order
Henry
Harry
Milo
Oliver
Hugo
Dylan
The top 3 are very close as I think they are all cute! I have got a list of numbers but no email address for you so if you FB me it I'll send it on x
Monkey I missed that your poor little DS had to have an op, bless him, I can't imagine how worried you were watching him go off like that Still it went well and I'm sure he's fully recovered now and making you run round after him
Mermaid 5 m/c's is just not fair, but it's good to hear you feel calm, if it is the calm before the storm you know where we are, if it is acceptance then I hope it brings you peace, but you can always change your mind
Annie Gorgeous FB pics. Snap with the feeding usually around 2.5/3 hrs sometimes stretches to 4hrs but that's usually in the day unfortunately, I'm surprised at how quickly you get used to no sleep
VJay How are things with you, A must be growing so much now? Think we are due a photo update?
Blue How are things with your gorgeous family?
Saabs Very [envy} at the baby massage classes, been trying to find some in our area, although not sure it's such a good idea as E screams when he gets naked! Hope you get good news on the maternity leave. I too am having problems with DH but mine are more about his short temperedness with E when he's upset, he seems to have such a short fuse! He has been looking after him on his own and coped well, and I think things are looking up, then he gets arsey again Don't get me wrong he loves him to bits but just has no patience
Gracie Are you excited yet? Bag packed?
MLS Sending virtual hug and hair stroke
Jools I am sorry to hear AF got you and in spectacular form by the sounds of it, I had high hopes as I'm sure you did, your body is playing cruel tricks on you Definately sounds like a CP, make sure you see a GP to get it on your records. Chocolate is such a good healer

I am enjoying the wonders of a baby carrier at the moment, means I can type with both hands and do housework without grumpy monkey crying all the time! Although I wouldn't go out with it as too accident prone! Health Visitor thinks E has got possible reflux problems, due to amount of pain, sick, wind and broken sleep he has, bless him, seeing GP on Weds to confirm or deny. We have been putting books under the moses basket so he's not lying flat and got him some magic bottles, seems to have cut down on some of the puke I can't keep up with the washing, it's OK for E he's got loads of clothes but I'll soon be naked (not a good look and rather cold!)

BuddhaBellySaggyPants · 11/01/2010 12:22

Oh my what a huge post

mermaidspurse · 11/01/2010 12:51

buddha the joys of motherhood eh? poor wee mite with his windypops - sorry takes me back to my nan - I can remember ds having a small bit of projectiling about the same age but not on the proportions you describe. Hope the gp comes up with a magic answer for you on wed. Give that gorgeous boy a big soothing kiss on his tummy from me.

dh has always been fab with small ones huge family loads of sprogs everywhere so he never got a choice early on. But if he didn't get enough sleep.... In the end I sent him up to thebatchelorboysflat attic bedroom. Got the whole bed to myself and ds and that worked well for ages. I was one of these feed on demand co sleeping nut cases who had ds sleeping through by 9 months despite everyone saying rod and and back a lot nah nah nenana

Sleep and such a change from coupledom to family is such a major one. sabs I never had a mil problem sadly but know lots of people who do. Its a hard one and and sending my sympathies.x

opps mm happy belated birthday to you

opps have to go lots of love to everyone x

Neeko · 11/01/2010 13:32

Hi all. Spent so long catching up that lunch is nearly over. Will catch up properly later but wanted to quickly say.

Huge Happy Birthday to Barbie. Hope you have the best of days.

4ever Congratulations on surviving the 1st day back (as I'm sure you have) and really to hear about your auntie.

jools another huge hug coming your way. It's rubbish but think of the mental improvement in the last month with your tablets and what you can achieve in the next few weeks. Get started on the baby asprin and as Curly says get shagging! (once AF goes)Curly that made me laugh! In a few months Jools you'll hopefully be sitting with a HUUUGE bump and it'll all have been worth it.

MLS thanks for the funny texts last night. You save my sanity every time (something's got to do it for me ) Will you still be ok to fly in July when you get your sticky BFP in 3 weeks.

There's lots more I want to say, but I'm out of time so I'll catch up later.

P.S. DD fell in a huge puddle of swimming pool proportions when my SIL took her to nursery today She is fine though and was more concerned about not being able to paint before she changed her clothes!

bluesatinsash · 11/01/2010 13:35

Happy 30th Brithday barbie!!! at your card from bump . Hope you have/had a wonderful day - one year on its all rosy

Jools - so shit that AF turned up and was horrible and clotty . Glad to hear your DP was off getting you chocolate though . Hope you're feeling better today..

4ever - what awful news about your auntie and on such a sad day too... Hope first day back is going OK, the days and weeks will fly in now. So fantastic to see you in the big pants list .

Buddha - lovely to hear from you missy . A few of my friend's lo's have had reflux and once prescribed with baby gaviscon (which goes in their bottles) see a vast improvement so fingers crossed for little E. Well done you for managing four weeks bf - the latch on is a killer and I'm only now coming out the toe curling other end.

Sabs - like the others have said EVERYTHING changes between your DH and you once baby is on the scene. The 'who is more tired' competition, the big saggy pants and breast pads look, the grumpiness and wondering if your mojo will ever come back... Its such a shock going form none to one and we've all been there. Just rmember Saara is only little and she is your priority. You and your Dh will find each other again once she's bigger, reinstall 'date night' etc. I remember going out for my first adult posh meal after DS1 was born, he was @ 4 months as I had just stopped bf and I felt like me and DH had come through the worst and there we were, out for dinner, enjoying some wine and conversation while DS1 was tucked up asleep at home. It will get better just keep talking and as LBM said, pull together not apart .

Mermaid - you are my hero with the co-sleeping . I have gonw from Gina Ford to attachment parenting in one fell swoop but Benjamin just needs me beside him at night and who am I o argue - he's my last baby and I want to cherish every SLEEP DEPRIVED minute.

MLS - Florida? . I can so visualise you wafting about with a wee six month bump .

Vjay - Glad Ajay likes the sweet potato! Did you get your car out this morning? It seems to be thawing here

Hey to everyone else, better go and have my shower - OK, OK its half one but I have done the ironing this morning!!

bluesatinsash · 11/01/2010 13:38

Hey Neeko - x-post! at your DD and her swimmng pool puddle! How is she getting on at nursery. Does she have a Peppa Pig rucksack ?

cupcakefairy · 11/01/2010 14:47

Hi girls, so gutted I couldn't get on to post yesterday to jools, 4ever, barbie and everyone else having a significant day... our modem decided to stop working they say they'll send out an engineer on Sat but I'm hoping it will magically recover itself before then! (It has before!) so a sneaky post from work for now...

jools so so crap for you and I really am sorry when you had been sounding so hopeful and happy recently too. Hope you can find that bounce back-ability...MLS you should give lessons

4ever been thinking of you lots with your Dad's anniversary and going back to work and I hope and pray today has been ok for you. So sorry about your aunt hope you had a good hug and cry with your Mum yesterday.

barbie glad you were spoilt, belated happy birthday to you!

blue that is so lovely what you said about wanting to help us totally clueless first-time Mums. I will definitely be running to you all for advice! I read the Haynes baby manual all the way through yesterday and loads of it totally freaked me out so interesting that both you and Vjay were all routine and now more relaxed second time... I think I want to get a bedside cot where the side comes off so I can just reach over and feed in the night, hopefully a good compromise.

MLS yay for booking a holiday! Now come on please law of sod, may MLS be pregnant on the holiday and therefore not able to drink lovely cocktails

buddha so lovely to hear from you and you made me laugh with your comment about E crying when he's naked I can just picture you at the baby massage class, the only one with a screaming child while the other babies are all serene au naturel hope GP can help with the reflux.

Neeko hope your dd has dried off now!

Curly yay for finishing this week

Gracie oooh sounds like The George will soon be making an appearance exciting!

Well, back pain has kicked in for me... my lower back is so so painful I can hardly walk and definitely can't sleep not sure what I've done but walking on all this ice definitely hasn't helped. Surrounded myself with pillows last night but still tossed & turned all night..ended up in tears on dh this morning hope this doesn't carry on another 18 weeks!

On the positive side, have very nearly finished the baby blanket It's a mess in places but I'm quite proud of it!

cupcakefairy · 11/01/2010 14:50

Ooh, and forgot to say, dh finally got to feel the baby last night! Every time lo has been squirming I grab his hand and put it on my tummy but it stops as soon as he does! But last night lo finally obliged with a kick for Dad was fab.

And also forgot- 4ever it's so so amazing to see you on the big pants list. I know it's a massive massive milestone for you and I'm just so happy for you

Joolsiam · 11/01/2010 16:17

Hi all

Thanks for the messages and texts yesterday I meant to come back on, but took to my bed with a hot water bottle, then had a horror-mone sobbing fit in the evening, so didn't look at my phone till it was too late to reply

Sorry too if I cut anyone off this morning - have never used that chat thing before !

Had bad cramps again just now, then had a hideous flashback as I felt clots and had to rush to the bathroom The clotting is of a size that I have never seen during AF, and now they've passed, the pain has gone - - something tells me I've been in this movie before. It feels more like an early MC than my last confirmed MC did.

Barbie - I've already wished you happy birthday, but I hope the rest of the day is going well and you are blinding everyone with your sparkly finger

Washing the cat - well she has a habit of following me into the bathroom and settling down on the mat between my feet whilst I am on the loo and - well I think you can imagine the rest

4Ever - was thinking of you yesterday. You had a horrid combination of events to cope with and I hope today went well. Agree with the comments re redundancy aswell - I got made redundant a few years ago and, when I got over the shock, it was the best thing that had ever happened to me, especially with 9 years service !

Neeko - you could write a book on your DD

Cupcake - are you allowed a heat pad for the back pain - maybe that would help ?

Reasons not to be PG right now

I can have Lemsip and Ibuprofen
I can hit the gym with a vengenace to get rid of the post Christmas tum
I'm going on hols with the girls to New York - probably April and it might have clased with my anomaly scan otherwise !!
I only just restarted folic acid a couple of weeks ago.
We got given 14 bottles of wine for Christmas

bluesatinsash · 11/01/2010 16:31

"We got given 14 bottles of wine for Christmas" that's the spirit Jools!

But seriously, the passing of clots is awful and would have brought back memories of Nov 08. I still vividly remember passing clots during my first natural MC and being horrified at how much there was for 'only' being 8 weeks pg ... I also had a surreal moment as I lay on the en suite floor whilst a paramedic wrapped me in a towel as it reminded me of the scene from Sex and the City when Miranda does her back in and Aiden (swoon) comes to rescue her off the bathroom floor. The things that go through your head at awful moments in life eh?

Anyway, moving on... Cupcake - that your DH got to feel baby move - just lovely. I wish I'd gotten the cot that opens up to your bed as it allows co-sleeping but retains some us and them space .

4ever - hope your first day back was bearable and you're lying on the couch as I type!

Barbie - need to check FB - is there a picture of that gorgeous ring of yours on it yet??
