VJaybigpants · 12/04/2009 09:55

Hiya and a Happy Easter, it's lovely up here too, my washing will be out soon enough.

I've been so down this week, I know it sounds selfish, but I can't help it, I thinks it's due to the homesickness I am feeling at the moment and all the hormones in my system. I just sat on my bed and cried for no reason yesterday. I also feel very lonely, I've been up here for 3 years, and although I come across as very confident I do find it hard to make firm friends. Sorry but I have to tell someone and you guys are that someone. Hopefully next week will be better, I'll be back at work and ds will be back and school and normal routine can kick in.

Sorry for a me post, I think I'll have some chocolate, that usually helps.

Molliemooma · 12/04/2009 10:19

Vjay So sorry to hear you are feeling down at the moment, it's not selfish at all and I'm glad you felt comfortable enough to tell us. Have you thought about checking out MN local to see if there are any girls in your area you could talk/meet with? Its never easy making new friends and there is nothing worse than feeling lonely, we're a poor substitute really but we are all here for you hun x
Jools I admire your strength not testing, I know you think it's just denial but I actually think you are being really strong and I'm proud of you
Blue We have lovely sunshine too and I can beat your washing - I've got 2 loads out! [even more efficient emoticon] Thank you for thinking of Jools and I in church later
Sabs I was a little worried when I saw your FB status, but so pleased you are out of the situation for a few weeks, the last thing you need is a stressful environment, we can usually manage that on our own
You take care of yourself and bump
I'm impressed at the number of A&E nurses we have, I don't know how you deal with some of the people that you must get on a regular basis, I take my hat off to you girls don't think I'd cope with seeing yucky things whilst pg I'd be puking over the patients

barbie1 · 12/04/2009 10:41

Its sunny here too

Im soooo tired after yesterdays trip into the desert, woke up with my entire body aching from being bounced around in the back of the car (not by my dh though ) while off roading. Fab views across the mountain in oman....hairy moment while getting stopped at a check point, (not offically across the boarder but they still check) i had no id! v bad situation to be in...was shitting myself very scared as dh had to step out the car while they carried out a search, the other girl who was with us and her boyfriend all had id but had beers in the back which is a jailable offence here thankgod for the dog in the back or else they might of found them...after seeing the dog and looking me up and down they let us finally go....phew

vjay i can totally ubderstand how you ae feeling, i still get days here when i ask what the hell are we dong so far away from home it passes though...mollies idea about local mumnetters sounds good!

jools you must have your hands tied behind your back because i wouldnt be able to not test! however understand the not wanting to know in order to protect yourself....good luck for when you finally cave

mollie i saw that you had been graduated and was going to change it back myselft but didnt want to interfer, i know you so well not long until you can finally put yourself on the list and feel comfortable, i have everything crossed all the time for you!

sab good to talk on fb the other day, hope you enjoy the lion king

blue hot in scotland??? what on earth is happening hope you had anice morning in church, so nice of you to think of the girls while there, you are lovely!!!

Hi to the rest of you, im too tired to carry on typing but thinking of you all xxxx

VJaybigpants · 12/04/2009 10:53

thanks mollie and barbie, I know this will pass it always does, I just think it's all the hormones making everything feel worse, I miss my sister and best mates back home and I don't think you can replace them with new best mates. I have made some friends up here, I just need to stop feeling sorry for myself.

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 13:09

Hi all

Very jealous of all that lovely sunshine you are having 'oop North. The weather here - crap crap crap! Wish I could have put my washing outside, instead it is festooning the radiators & the house looks like a Chinese laundry.

I'm v over excited as I did a opk today & it was the most positive + I've ever had with a really dark line, darker than the control line. My opk's are usually v difficult to read. I'm now wondering if it's anything to do with the herbal pills my acupuncturist sold me which apparently balance your hormones, make the lining of your womb stronger & make you produce better quality eggs. I googled the pills & it looks like all the acupuncturists advise taking them & they are common in China. Blue are you taking anything on the advice of your acupuncturist?

I think I'm right in thinking that the best time to bd is tomorrow as I should ov in the next 24-36 hours. Can anyone confirm this? GG where are you..... you'll know the answer! Ideally I should bd tonight & tomorrow but we bd'd last night so my dh will definitely not be up for it three nights in a row! Arrggghhhh stress.... it's all I can think about & I might have to go back to banging my head on the kitchen table!

Hope everyone is having a fab chocolatey Easter & sorry to have just harped on about myself for the last five minutes!

kate030284 · 12/04/2009 13:42

happy easter girls .xxx

VJaybigpants · 12/04/2009 14:16

Hi mls can't you persuade dh to go for it tonight? If it was me we would be doing it like bunnies now , good luck

bluesatinsash · 12/04/2009 15:11

Hi gals,

Vjay - don't you feel bad for feeling homesick and hormonal, it is your right! As Mollie and barbie say MN local is a good starting point. I know what you mean about 'new' friend's not being the same as old ones. My best friend from school and really the only link I still have to those crazy years 1988-1992 lives in Hong Kong so there's no-one to reminise about when we were mad as a box of frogs and sons had to be locked up for their own safety when we were around [big head emotion].

One thing you have though is a lovely gorgeous lo on the way which opens a whole new chapter of potential friend's through meeting new Mum's. Join EVERYTHING - baby massage, yoga, mums and toddlers etc. etc. I was depsreately lonely when I first had DS as was used to being at work or out galavanting with friends and my Mum forced me to join things and it saved my sanity. It takes time but nearly three years on I have four good friends out of it.. i know you have your DS but I do think its harder to make new friend's when their/your lo's are a bit older .

Here endeth the sermon advice .

Hey MLS the only thing my acupuncturist (who is also my GP) has recommended me to do is r-e-l-a-x! re: bd after OPK, I was actually re-reading my old 'how to conceive naturally' book this morning (written by American doctor) and it advises that you Bd on DAY of +ve OPK, day AFTER and day after that (although this is optional). He made a big deal about BD day AFTER OPK as those swimmers should meet the egg coming down - good luck!!

Barbie - have had a peek at your photos on fb and the barbiemobile looks awesome!

Had a nice thoughful time at church this morning and asked the big man up there to be kind to us all this year..

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 16:38

Vjay believe me if it were up to me I'd be a busy little Easter bunny right now but dh is already mardy-faced because I told him I had a +ive & he's now feeling under pressure! My Mum & Dad are coming to stay tomorrow for a couple of days so we have to get a quick one in after we put dd down for her nap & before they get here!

Blue thanks so much for info re when's best to bd, you said EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

Oooooooooo I can feel my ovaries pinging in anticipation!

babyinacorner · 12/04/2009 17:39

Hi all - just wishing everyone a happy easter x

Mummylovessadie - good luck for tomorrow!

only 6 days until i can test - no symptoms yet apart from a bit of period (or dare i hope - implantation) pain.

got a grapefruit juice question - are you meant to carry on drinking it through the rest of your cycle or just pre - ovulation?

has anyone else got any top tips to conceive?! apart from drinking the juice and taking pre natal vits and lots of bding what else should i be doing?!

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 19:29

Use Pre-seed (sperm-friendly gel that encourages the little swimmers to swim). I don't know much about grapefruit juice but if I'm not pregnant this cycle I'll give it a go - why does it have to taste so awful though?! I'd imagine that you would just have to use it until you have ov'd. Apparently it makes your appetite decrease as well, Brucie bonus!!

I hope your pain is implantation pain, fingers & toes crossed.

babyinacorner · 12/04/2009 19:50

thanks mls -can you buy pre-seed on the high street?

Embarassing confession - i just did a first response test - negative of course -why did i do it, why????aaaggghhhh

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 20:09

I've never seen it in the shops, I bought mine from Ebay. You can buy it in a tube like KY or you can buy it in pre-packaged kind-of capsules, I went for the tube as you can then control how much you use each time.

You did the test for the same reason we all test early, we are a all a little bit desperate & slightly mad!

I wish I had the resolve of Jools, I'd love to not test until I'm actually late but the chances of that happening are less than zero!

Try not to dwell on it (yeah right!) it's still early & it may well have been a false neg.

GracieGirl · 12/04/2009 20:24

Evening all! Just finished a very busy 13 hour shift in A&E - I'm knackered!

MLS the amount of time you spend banging your head on that table I'm surprised there isn't a big hole in it!! Advice is to BD every other day from day 8, then when you get a positive OPK BD that day plus 2 additional nights in a row, then miss a day, then once more for good luck! My DH is home tomorrow for the day which will be my day 10, then he's not back till day 16 for the day (but I'll be on nights then) - obviously these rules were not designed around me and my DH!!

Vjay - big hugs to you, sorry you're feeling down.

Oooh Barbie you do get yourself into some scrapes!! I don't think our Charlies Angels mob would be much use to you against scary check point people, we'd give it a go though!

kate030284 · 12/04/2009 20:25

im the same baby before my mc i was testing mad .it drove my dp mad as i wud get upset wen i got a bfn . was trying for over a year before so god knows how much i spent on tests

anniecam38 · 12/04/2009 20:50

Evening ladies, well what a beautiful day it has been today, ive been to Edinburgh Zoo for the day and i can confirm, ike Blue says, the weather has been glorious and sunny all day. Hope you had nice visit to church today, i dont get there often, bjut like you i do feel at peace when i have managed a visit.

Barbie-Glad you enjoyed your day off roading, sounds fab, bit scary bout the checkpoint though!

Sabs-There is just no need for bullying in the work place, some people just seem to get off on making peoples lives a misery. Hope you feel a lot less stressed after your 2 weeks off, and i will be thinking of you Monday on you LO EDD.

VJay-Sorry your feeling down, sending big hugs, hope you feel better by now.

im off to pinch some of DS Easter Egg.

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 21:01

Thanks nurse GG, I wish you could tell that advice to my dh! You & your dh will just have to get to it tomorrow, I think that in the right conditions sperm can last for 7 days. Going back to what you said a while ago about old sperm not being the most effective, that would make sense but have faith as my dd was conceived when we had only one bd in that fertile period & that was on day 11.

littlebellsmum · 12/04/2009 21:20

MLS - that * man from BBC was wrong! It has finally stopped raining but its now bleary dark....

Sorry all - ranting about the weather makes sound like my mother but when you have a pretty big, very overgrown garden, 3 days off and mil to entertain the kids, having dry days was pretty damm important! Ah well - at least we got one Easter egg hunt in and the dc's and their cousins didn't kill each other.

Jools - I'm with you entirely. My not symptom spotting has stopped a bit, slightly sore boobs but still enjoying wine and little queesyness. And I'm certainly in 2 minds about a bfp...

Hope you're feeling better soon VJay ( perscription is more mini eggs).

GG - you need to get your shifts alligned with your cycle - I'm sure your managers would be very accomadating

MummyLovesSadie · 12/04/2009 21:26

LBM that man from the BBC has royally peed me off this weekend! What a tosser!

littlebellsmum · 12/04/2009 21:38

Not to mention everyone else in the country telling me on fb what great weather they are having..

littlebellsmum · 12/04/2009 21:42

Anyway - enough whining, loggin off, there is a bag on mini eggs with my name on them and a very large gin by the fire. Tomorrow will be a lovely sunny day and I can't wait!! Boy, I am such an optomist!

kate030284 · 12/04/2009 21:42

its been rubbish weather here in midlands. so prob rubbish 2moro 2

Neeko · 12/04/2009 21:53

Hello. Had a lovely day with DH and DD at the safari park followed by dinner at the MIL's house. Feeling relaxed and haven't even had choc yet! (2 BD down one to go - fingers crossed!!)
VJay Don't know if t helps but I'm in South Ayrshire?
Sabs at your boss. Rooting for you and hope you get it sorted.
What the heck, hugs to all.
MLS Fingers crossed we could both be lucky this weekend. Hope you put earplugs on your parents' pillows instead of chocs!
LBS Symptoms still sounding hopeful. Fingers crossed.
Hi to everyone else. Took me ages to catch up tonight and DH giving me the evil eye about being on so will write more later.
Off to have half an Easter egg.

Joolsiam · 13/04/2009 08:08

Let the obsessing, worry and kicker checking being. I can't even smile about it - am convinced it is doomed.
