So, I had the mirena coil out on Mon 19th Jan due to some complications. Specialist told me that the hormone in the coil had run out but would still be working as contraceptive just like non-hormone coil. So that means I would start ovulating again as the hormone had run out but the egg would not be able to implant due to the coil. Have taken other precautions (abstaining - just to be sure) for 5 days before removal (as directed) and since removal. However, I now have several pregnany symptoms. My skin has gone as spotty as when I was a teenager, have an awful metallic taste in my mouth, feeling generally ropey - really does feel like I did in v early days of being pregnant with my 2 DCs. The only way I can see that pregancy could be vaguely possible is that I released an egg which was fertilized 6 days or more before having coil removed, it then travelled down to my uterus and implanted just after I had my coil removed (possible?), which would now make me around 2 weeks since implantation - around when I would normally be able to get a pregnancy reading. I haven't had a period for years due to coil so have no idea when I should be due. I cannot get out to get a pregnancy test due to living in the back of beyond, up a very large hill covered in loads and loads of snow.....how frustrating. Am I worrying about nothing though? Just coincidence? I know the odds must be stacked against but is this even possible?

Thanks, sorry about the ramble - somewhat stressed & isolated here - thank God for t'internet.

minipinkscottish · 05/02/2009 11:05

what did dh say? dying to know.

Girlinthecountry · 05/02/2009 11:45

sorry to keep you all waiting - no school again 'cause of snow so have boys at home.

so DH was absolutley gobsmacked. at first he was just completely silent, staring at me, and I was starting to get a bit worried. Then he asked me how I felt about it, I just grinned and he gave me a huge hug. after that we just spent the night grinning and chatting about really silly little things like how we'll sort the bedrooms out, who will sleep where etc - you know, the really unimportant stuff. He was really positive, said the chances of us having another autistic child, although increased were still small. Said even if we did then we already knew so much and had such experience we'd be in a good position to help the child very early on. i know this sounds so cheesy but feel like I love him even more - he was just so sweet and said all the right things and now we're both really excited. I feel really good about the future and know we are very blessed.

I got pg with a mirena coil still in situ.

I had two older boys and NO intention of any more. DD is 2.5 now, and a great addition to the family.
