I have metallic taste and I feel sick. Don't want to get excited because don't want to set myself up for a fall as I have every month so far with imagined symptoms. Please help...

Jools1 · 23/09/2008 15:41

I guess all I can offer sympathy and hope that the suspense will be over soon

I don't think that there is anything you CAN do other than keep waiting and testing and, if you think you are over a week late, perhaps seeing your GP for a blood test ?

I had implantation pains and spotting, so was reasonably certain on what was happening. I have felt low-level nausea when tired in the afternoon / evening or if I don't have lunch till late but never got the metallic taste.

We're all different so you are still in with a chance - good luck !

nelix2000 · 23/09/2008 16:45

hey all! sorry been busy with uni work, trying to get ahead with my course work. Feeling VERY tired all the time...very different pregnancy from my first one as the symptoms feel far more acute!!!

I think we should start an ante natal thread once the babydust really gets to working!!!!

Glad everyone is busy doing the things you need to be doing to get BFPs!!! anyone back on GFJ?????

OP posts:
yellowflowers · 23/09/2008 17:38

bought clearblue tests this afternoon despite first response negatives this morning - now got to try not to use until Thurs.

BeckyMcG · 23/09/2008 18:46

Hi, hi ladies!! Congratulations all round Jools and Ilove :-)

I have been in sunny spain but am back now and have been busy all day at work (the cheek) so had to wait till now to check thread.......such exciting news ladies.
I had a BFN before I went away and then AF came too.....double whammy. Now to worry though - enjoyed lots of wine with the girls and now I know I'm back in cycle after my MC. Therefore my AF is now due 14th Oct.

For the rest of us girls - it must be our month!!!!

BeckyMcG · 23/09/2008 18:48

Ps. I am off to buy the grapefruit juice tomorrow given all the luck it seems to have brough

Ilovebeingamummy · 23/09/2008 19:46

Yellowflowers - don't lose hope - while no af the chance is more than just a chance Try putting your dates in here www.hip-chick-pregnancy-guide.com/due-date-calculator.html

It really gave me hope that I was just playing a waiting game not going mad. HTH a little bit maybe

An antenatal thread would be great Jools. Hope we can all join soon!

funtimewincies · 23/09/2008 19:53

Welcome smileycat - better crack open the grapefruit juice!

By the way, I was wondering if grapefruit juice and martini would go together, combine interests sort of thing .

Wanabe - hope that your DH is fighting fit again soon and will be suitably grateful for all your tender care and attention.

yellowflowers · 23/09/2008 20:06

thanks Ilovebeingamummy - will give it a go.

yellowflowers · 23/09/2008 20:09

Thanks - adjusted dates as I have usual 30 days cycle and it says can expect a reliable test by Sept 27th - eeek, thats Sat then. Not sure I can wait that long!

Heebychick · 24/09/2008 09:01

Good morning ladies

nelix i am back on the GFJ with a vengence, my DD even tried some over the weekend and then shuddered and made a really funny 'yuk' face! she then tried to stop me having some and got upset when i did, i guess she wanted to say 'don't have it mummy it's awful!' tee hee!

yellow good luck with your waiting, it must be torture but at least you still have hope, be calm and try to block it out till then (yeah yeah who am i kidding!)

Welcome back becky sorry about your double whammy, at least you could relax in spain and enjoy yourself.

An antenatal thread would be great! maybe do one after this round of cycles? we go away for 2 weeks on Sunday so i won't be able to test until we get back and i'll be on CD32 then so if no AF then i'll be certainly on time for testing. But i shall be sad to be away from the action of all you testers, i will pray from over the sea for lots of BFP's tho xx

WanabeMum · 24/09/2008 10:26

Good morning,

nelix i have to say i've been slacking on the GFJ front but have vowed to start properly today

heeby where are you going? somewhere warm i hope! lots of sun, sea, and .......... sangria?! Be lovely to conceive your child in the sun somewhere,

yellow all of my fingers are crossed for you! keep positive and try to distract yourself in the meantime (easier said than done obviously!)

Welcome back Becky! Glad you had a fab holiday in the sun! Ladies I am convinced that this thread is lucky and we will all be on the antenatal thread soon. But if i'm not lucky this month please don't all give up on me and disappear onto the antenatal thread! not sure i'd cope with being alone

funtime i'm liking your combined interest idea, trying to incorporate the GFJ into your daily (or not) routine?! May have to join you, although not sure it would taste all that nice

BFP-ers keep the babydust flowing!!

yellowflowers · 24/09/2008 10:42

bugger - spotting started - I'm out.

Heebychick · 24/09/2008 10:58

yellow oh no! are you sure? i get so angry with my own body when i have 'symptoms' and then AF starts anyway, i am really sorry for you, at least there are a few of us in the same boat so we can support each other this month.

wanabe we are going to Paxos, i've never been to greece or any of the islands so am really excited! and yes it would be perfect to concieve DC2 on holiday, our DD was concieved in California on our honeymoon so it's only fair that number 2 has it's own exotic story!

yellowflowers · 24/09/2008 12:35

Hi heebychick - not completely sure - only found spotting by, erm (don't shout at me) putting tampon in for a few mins then pulling out and seeing what was on end! But there was some blood and am convinced it's spotting and beginning of AF even though now getting metallic taste again.

Slim chance I could have ovulated on the second burst of ewcm which was 12 days ago and this could be implantation but unlikely as metallic wouldn't happen until after implantation would it?

enjoy your hols

wasabipeanut · 24/09/2008 12:54

Hi everyone, good to see everyones been busy! Congratulations Ilovebeingamummy - BFP's aplenty. Yellow, fingers crossed for you and Happy holiday Heeby.

SparkyMalarky · 24/09/2008 14:23

Hey all - have been lurking as feeling v blue about the whole thing Know that I'm lucky to have a BFP but am convinced I am going to lose this one like the last (last pg never got past 6+3 and and 6+5 today) - doesn't help that still feeling crampy and am sure I have lost all other symptoms...

Anyway, wanted to pop on and say congrats to Ilovebeingamummy and have a fabulous holiday Heeby

And funtime a grapefruit martini sounds fabulous!

Mylittlebubble · 24/09/2008 14:41

Sparky stay positive, I always put those cramping pains down to my growing baby making room .

I haven't been on very much as busy with LO and BD'ing! We've been good and BD every other day, so far , my FIL popped round one lunch time unexpectedly! Which you'd think wouldn't be a problem, just don't answer the door I hear you say, but then we remembered he had key!!

sparky gentle slap on wrist for you honey, you must try to be positive, every pregnancy is the same and it is normal to get lots of cramps during the first 12 weeks. I had them for ages! and worried too but nothing bad ever happened. Sorry to sound stern, i do totally understand how you feel (have been there) and i am not underestimating it at all, i hope you know that. i just think that you should try to keep strong and look at the good points. My Dr told me that it is normal for you to think the symtpoms have gone because our bodies get used to them after a few weeks! until we have another surge of hormones! will you have a scan soon? to put your mind at rest? (((((hugs ))))

yellow slap for you too! argh! bad girl! anyway, it might be any manner of things. leave it for a few days and see what happens - good luck!

bubble OMG - what did you do!?!! argh, i'm not sure who would be more shocked!? tee hee!

wasabi good luck with your 'busy' week! how time flies indeed, it won't be long before we are all symptom spotting again!

thanks to all of you who wished me a happy holiday, i shall be on here over the weekend before we go to make sure you are all doing ok and hopefully lots of BDing! you are my family and i will miss you all!

oh and TMI alert ... think i had some EWCM today (bit early but hey with my wierd cycles who knows) it wasn't a lot but i shall be back on the GFJ when i get home and tempting my DH to bed later just in case.

SparkyMalarky · 24/09/2008 15:44

Thanks Heeby - I do need a slap on the wrist and I suppose it makes sense about the hormones Thanks for the hugs too (actually, I might cry again now...)

Jools1 · 24/09/2008 15:52

Hello ladies

Well, just got back home from abortive day trying to work in our new local office, as the network went down ! Now I am back home, I can browse MN in peace

Sparky good to hear from you - was beginning to wonder where you were I can't give any advice, as I've never been in your situation, but can sympathise {passes over large box of chocs} Haven't you just passed a a milestone though - can you read that as positive news ?

I have weed on one more stick - did it before telling my GP, just to make sure I wasn't imagining it

MyLittleBubble - Your story made me laugh My MIL has a front door key and has let herself in a few times when I've been working away in the loft study - has given me a few scares and I've since had a temper tantrum, suggesting she rings before popping round as it started feeling like my house was not my own

YellowFlowers - still hopeful

I made it official with my GP yesterday - quite an anticlimax. Not happy with West Herts antenatal care - I don't see anyone till 12 weeks and no scan till 20 weeks - I just can't wait that long, so have got to go private for a nuchal - assuming I get that far ..

Welcome back Becky

I really really fancy a Martini and Grapefruit juice now - funny that !

wasabipeanut · 24/09/2008 15:54

Sparky I agree with heeby 100%. I had little cramps on and off all the way through 1st trimester with my DS. I think if they were "bad" cramps they'd be a hell of a lot more painful.

Staying positive is best for you and your eeeny weeeny bambino!

Bubble - Lol!

BeckyMcG · 24/09/2008 18:05

Feeling more relaxed this month - if that's possible. Will be doign lots of BD over the weekend but am sure by the time testing comes around again I won't be feeling relaxed at all!! ahhhh - you'll be ok Sparky, keep positive - I'm sure it's your turn this time.
