Big what? I think DH and I watched some of the second series but haven't bothered since as the people in there just got toooo ridiculous and annoying!

lardybump · 15/08/2008 18:09

cals dp doesnt like it either... But I do watch it in the mornings...

Dalrymps · 15/08/2008 22:34

Hi everyone, I started a thread asking advice on ttc and sesqal pointed me in this direction. I have a 9 and a half month old ds called Dylan and dh and I have been thinking about starting ttc in Jan 2009.
The reason we are waiting till then is that we have to finish decorating the kitchen and bathroom and I want to have a drink at christmas without people getting suspicious that i'm not drinking, we also like the idea of that age gap - 23mo+.
I've ordered a basal thermometer and am going to spend the next 4 months charting my temp so I can get a good idea of when I ovulate. Ds was a happy and slightly early accident so haven't done this before.

Anyway thats a bit of info about me, even though i'm not ttc right now is it ok if I join?

calsworld · 16/08/2008 09:13

Hi Dalrymps - course its OK to join - we're a bit of a mix of waiting to TTC, TTC and graduates - between us we seem to get most questions answered!

Temping in advance seems like a good idea as it can take a while to get into the swing of whats going on - it might be worth you joining fertility friend.com as well - it allows you to plug your temping data in and helps translate it for you.

I've never done temping but it would have been the next thing I tried if we hadn't caught when we did

I have a DS as well and he'll be 2yrs 4mo (ish) when this DC is born, which is a nice gap I think, bit bigger than I'd anticipated orginally but don't think any gap can be too big or too small, it just is what it is and the DC's don't know any different do they?

Where is everyone this morning? I've had a lovely big bowl of porridge for brekkie and probably won't need to eat again till at least, oooh, lunchtime !

2beautifulgirls · 16/08/2008 09:31

Morning and welcome to Dalrymps

Never tried temping, but lots of people have been very successful using it and get to know there cycles and bodies better. I agree with joining fertility friend.

How are you cal?

I also had porridge for brekkie

Think i have decided to take a break from here for a little while
We have been trying for 6 months now and i know its not a massive amount of time but it feels like forever for me We are suppose to stop TTC after this month due to the move next May, but i don't know if i can Me and Dh are going to have a talk about it all.

Will stop by every now and then to catch up.
So its not a bye but a see you later
Hope you all have a happy and uneventual 9 months or whatever you have left. Will be thinking of you all.

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 16/08/2008 09:33

morning cal

welcome dal - i temped using a basal thermometer orally and fertilty friend it is a great idea.
fertiltiy friend is brillant and very addictive, it charts each of your daily temperatures and plots them on your graph, then it will tell you when you ovulated due to a big temp drop then rise.
good luck

i am off into town in a min buying dds friends 3rd bday pressys in elc using amy voucher.
also getting dd some trousers and tops and wellies for nursery starts beg of sept.
wow cal you did have a big breakfast i can only manage 1 weetabix

also have a bid on the item i am trying to sell on ebay which is great

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 16/08/2008 09:34

morning 2bgs swear i am the queen bee of cross posts lol

take care 2bgs it is good to take a break form here will miss you

Diege · 16/08/2008 09:37

Morning! I'm tucking into my porridge at the very moment Cals - delicious, though seem to have a problem with burnt base of suacepan that takes ages to get off. I stir constantly so wonder what I'm doing wrong?
Anything nice planned for today?
Dalrymps, welocme to the thread! As Cal says, we are a mixed bunch, and because we're all at different stages there's always someone who's 'been there' and can answer questions. I think Moosma is also waiting to ttc for Jan? so you're not alone .
dh is taking older dds to party this afternoon, so I'm planning to take dd3 out to a cafe for cakes and drinks. Will take a lot of willpower for me to stick to my peppermint tea!

Diege · 16/08/2008 09:40

x-posts!! Aww 2BG we'll miss you Maybe pop in from time to time so we know you're OK?
Tinks - enjoy your trip into town - I think we are fellow shopaholics . I'll all spent up now until payday, but have my eye on a lovely poncho for dd3...

SesQal · 16/08/2008 10:33

Morning all!

Hello again Dalrymps Glad you found us! I can only echo what the others have said. I'm ttc#1 and am temping and using fertility friend.

Am glued to the tv at the moment watching the rowing. I'm finding the Olymics a bit addictive.....

2BG - Sorry you're going to be taking a bit of a break but I guess sometimes it's the right thing. IIRC, I think cals took a break for a month before she got duffed! I know you've got to think about your timings and everything with your move but I really hope it all works out for you and do lurk / catch up whenever you want!

Diege · 16/08/2008 11:21

Morning Ses Snap, watching Olympics too ! How good was that rowing match! Me and dh love the rowing as we met when we were both competing in the European Dragonboat championships (a distant memory!). How's the cycling by the way? Inspired by the olympics?

Diege · 16/08/2008 11:22

err, race I should say, not 'match'

SesQal · 16/08/2008 11:23

V inspired but nowhere near Olympic standard!
Just watched replay of Rebecca Adlington - how fantastic was she too!!!
Roll on the cycling medals!! (Literally!)

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 16/08/2008 13:02

hi i m all shopped out now.

managed to get all of dds friends presents
bought dd 2 pairs of leggings to wear and nursery and 2 pairs of tracksuit bottoms plus 6 tops. some upsy daisy wellies.

Diege · 16/08/2008 13:04

I know! She was so far ahead of the others!
Hoping to sneak in a few more hours of viewing, then X-factor starts tonight..yah!!!!

Diege · 16/08/2008 13:05

HI TINKS! No such thing as all shopped out

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 16/08/2008 13:29

very true diege lol

SesQal · 16/08/2008 13:30

Hi Tink! Sounds like good shopping

Diege - you're as bad as me! Keep checking back in and somehow managed to watch the cycling medals. Only problem is, I've put my cycling shorts on and can't leave the tv to do my own exercise! I'll maybe try and get some in before the 100m final at 3.30pm!

DH and I both looking forward to X Factor tonight!!

tinkispregnantwithpickle · 16/08/2008 15:41

i xant wait till xfactor either auditions r the best bit i have been watching the running events
my friend had her 4d scan said it was amazing we are thinking of having one

Diege · 16/08/2008 16:29

LOL SES at standing there in your cycling shorts watching the racing .
TINKS: snap, auditions are best part by far . Dh says he's not bothered with it, but I can get him into it and before long he's hooked .
Well good news here!! Af has arrived (30 days after D&C) so I'm officially on day 1 . Scared out of my skin, but am just going to carry on with my healthy habits and try not to worry too much! Could take me months, but at least I'm offically in the game now so feeling much happier

calsworld · 16/08/2008 17:04

Oooh Diege, congratulations on arrival of AF, sounds odd but YKWIM, I hope .

2bg, sorry you're taking a break but as ses said, it was the month after I took mine that I caught. It was six months for me too so know how much it hurts . Have a relaxing month and focus on your 2 beautiful girls and I'm sure all will follow in good time .

Believe me, I'm keeping everything crossed for everyone TTC that they don't have to wait too long - I've said it a couple of times before, but wouldn't it just be soooo much easier if we could see inside ourselves?

DJ jas been working in the garden all day so DS and I have been 'helping' him and just playing in the garden in general. We've killed relocated two beautiful roses to a new bed (they were in the middle of the lawn virtually ), and we've had a new retaining wall built for our lawn, which is raised and there was a gap between the wall and the lawn so DH has finished filling it in with rubble and topped it with top soil. We've got a patch of lawn that we are going to use to turf the gap between lawn and wall. The patch of lawn will then have the shed re-located on top of it. Still loads to do as you can probably tell!

When we've moved the shed, we hope to put a pergola up where it is, and have a sort of adult seating, fire pit, bbq, entertainment area....only a smallish one, but an adult cosy corner none the less.

I really want to get DS some toys to play on in the garden but am really stuck on something age appropriate that will last a little while - any suggestions anyone? I thought about getting him a play house but a) I can't find any and b) I'm hoping his grandpa is going to build him some kind of 'tree house'.

Maybe we shouldn't bother, with the pending arrival of DC2 and quality of local schools combined, we'll probably be moving house in another 18 months or so....we'll just about have finished getting this one to our liking after seven years of hard work .

Goodness....I'm waffling again, sorry!

Diege · 16/08/2008 17:34

Hi Cals! Yes, congrats sounds good . Probably one of the few times I'm grateful for it when ttc! Your afternoon sounds lovely. Love the idea of the pagoda - they always looks so snug . A playhouse of some sort sounds good - maybe a plastic one that can go to the next house? ( I know they don't compare to wooden ones) Have a surf on the web; sure you'll get some bargains this time of year! From memory we got one of those reversable sand and water tables from ELC when dds were little, and gave them hours of fun .
Right, I'm on a mission to get dds into PJs and into bed early (6.30) so that I can get kitchen clear and watch x-factor without interruption!
