Def not too early for cravings GS - I was craving jacket potatoes at about 5 weeks and couldn't even look at a vegetable! Much better now!
Tink, your poor DD losing weight and you having to give meds, I think becoming a mum is tricky enough without having to cope with extra stuff like poorly DC's.
NJ - I had MRSA in my C-Section scar and DS had it in his eye - not much fun! Handwashing hell in my house for everyone and will be getting an enormous bottle of nhs style alcohol gel for next DC. I know it might seem paranoid but am not going through that again, it was awful. Not when it can be so easily avoided.
NJ, DS self weaned a bit like yours, bit earlier mind but I'd introduced some FF in the day time for when I went to nursery as I couldn't stand the thought of pumping in the office. Re engorgement etc, I was lucky enough to have a visit from the MW who asked me how I was and noticed red marks across my chest, said it looked like the start of engorgement and to have a hot shower (opens the ducts) and gently stroke (not squeeze) my boobs. It took out the excess milk and stopped it from getting blocked up. If she hadn't been there at that time I think it would have become quite bad.
I had a BFC ring me every day for about the first three days (at my request) to make sure I didn't feel 'abandoned' with DS and BFing. She was the one who told me how to make a bra out of an old t-shirt until my milk settled down - I'd been in tears until that point - I was about an L cup at this point!!! Funny in retrospect but a nightmare at the time .
I had a pump before he was born and I recall using it to relieve full boobs when DS stopped feeding at night - got carried away with the pumping though and ended up with bottles and bottles of breast milk that DS couldn't possibly drink - wish I'd known about milk banks - I could have fed a whole ward LOL!!! Will not be quite so exuberant with the pump this time around!!!
I'm soooooooooooooooooooo excited about it all, fingers crossed that its all OK.
I had an email from an old work colleague today - she's pregnant and her EDD is 22nd March! About the same time as me! Its really fab and hope we can spend some time together when we're on maternity leave.
Right, I promise not to mention BF ever again now - unless I can help with anything of course!
