I have succombed to the IO sale!!! Just bought the turtleneck dress, reduced from £90 to £54. Still a bit , but reckon I'll need soemthing smartish for work/evenings when it gets cooler, plus I can sell it on e-bay after!

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 11:37

Morning all, we have been quiet this morning!

Deige - I completely agree with you, £54 is a bargin for a nice dress that you will wear a lot, why shouldn't you look smart just because you're pg!

Good luck with your scan Nat

Completely forgetten what else I was going to say now as its been 30 mins since I started writting this post! Damn work getting in the way.

Oh and Dinner was lovely by the way. The herby roast chicken was so yummy and the juices of course all went into the risotto and made that fab too. We ate outside in the garden as well so it was really nice, although I drank a little more wine than I planned too. Really naughty Playing, was only going to have a glass but got a bit carried away . Not pissed of course but several glasses more than I should have, opps .

Morning everyone else!

Hello

We have one very healthy, perfect little baby here Have got a couple of pictures (£4 each ) will get DH to scan them in for me later tonight.

They've moved my EDD from the 12th of Jan to the 3rd, that puts me at 13+4 today - whoooohoooooooo I skipped a whole week without even knowing it!

They fucked up my bloods though and have to have one of them re-done, and I have to make an appointment for the triple test, have always had low results (1/4000+ before) but my sister has a history of babies with Spina Bifida and DS, so thought we had better go for it again.

Had a normal AN appointment after the scan (which is why we have been gone for so long) the MW dithered about putting me under the consultant (for the IU and PE last time, and because she said DS1 and DS2 were big babies - at 7lb 15, and 8lb 10, I wouldn't say they were massive ) But I told her if I got any sign of anything happening again I'd go and beat down the consultants door myself, and she let it go So for the first time ever, I am free from the sodding consultants HOOORRRAHHHHHHHH

Only other thing was I told her about the pain in my back/pelvis, she basically said it is only going to get worse, which I knew, and that there is very little to be done, which I feared! Paracetamol, rest, swimming/long baths, rest, and more rest is on the cards, the day I get to rest and rest some more is a day I would love to see!

Tink, hope your MW appointment went well?

Diege, I say tell her and get it over with. You know what she is going to say, so just let her get it out, and move on, forget about it. Besides if she get's any inkling of what is going on, and she works it out for herself, it will give her something else to moan about. Good bargain hunting BTW am not even going to look at the sale....

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 12:11

thats gr8 news nat wow so you are a wk more than u thought
midwife went great felt my tummy said all well but couldnt hear heartbeat which is a shame was hoping for some reassurance before scan on mon. said normal usually hear it 13 wks plus. feel abit moody now

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/07/2008 12:17

Yep a whole week! I must have OV'd so early in that cycle, no wonder I missed the EWCM, wouldn't have been looking for it within a week of my period ending!

Shame about the HB, at least she tried. It isn't long till Monday, it'll come round quick enough

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 12:20

thanks nat keep worrying that something may have happened i am 12 wks sat 2 at least so on the home run i am just tired going to relax this aft

lastboxoftampons · 02/07/2008 12:22

congrats, Nat, that all sounds great! So funny that she said both your lo's were big! My nephew was a little more than 5lbs and obviously was considered small, but given that the high end of 7lbs is big that doesn't leave much of a window for the poor lo's does it

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 12:22

Nat - so happy that you're a week ahead, yay! I have a good mind to guess my EDD (when the time comes) by the first day of my last period knowing full well that that will put me at least a week ahead so I get a scan quicker! They should re-adjust it back down again, or is that just really bad?

Tink - sorry about no heart beat, maybe its harder with twins? At least its less than a week till your scan.

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 12:26

playing i am having 1 as far as i know she did say that i looked big though and is wondering if i might be further on then i think

Diege · 02/07/2008 12:30

Ooh that's a good idea Playing, hadn't thought of that . Totally agree about the dress, will earn me money on a 'pay per wear' basis, although saying that clothes are my weakness, and can't wait to get paid for this marking so that I can have a splurge!
Nat, great news on the scan ; looking forward to seeing piccies. Think I'll play it by ear on telling mum front - may make a joke about my huge belly and see if she gets the hint
Tinks, midwife couldn't find HB with dd1 at 12 weeks, though all was well with scan a week later . It's for that reason that I declined offers in subsequent pregnancies as it can be hit and miss so early on. I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine .
Have just had a call from estate agents to arrange a viewing for tomorrow. Good news. but it does mean I'll have to get the stairs hoovered and a general tidy, though tbh not going to kill myself as most viewing result in nada!
Oooh not long till the tennis!!!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/07/2008 12:34

Tink, honestly, if the MW was woried she'd have sent you straight off for a scan. And I have heard of MW's not finding HB at 20+ weeks, when everything is absolutely fine. Try not to let it worry you, I am sure it will all be fine on Monday, enjoy your rest

LBOX, The only thing I can guess at what she was meaning was that there was quite a difference in their weights, and if the third follows the trend and is as big again, then he (???!!) will be a big baby IYKWIM? I can't see for one second anyone thinking that 7lb 15 is big enough to involve the consultant, it just doesn't make sense does it? I think I read somewhere recently that the average baby now weighs 8lb at birth.

Either way, as long as I can stay out of that bloody consultants room this time, I will be pleased!

Playing, do you mean tell them your period started a week earlier? I am sure a lot of people do that, but you do have to be careful that you don't go for the scan too early - although a scan is lovely no matter how far along, I can say from experience, that the later the scan is done in the first trimester, the better it is, as in being able to identify bits and stuff. DS1's first scan was about 10 weeks, DS2 about 14 weeks, and withthis one the emergency scan at 7+ weeks, and then this one today, the best ones were DS2's and todays.

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 12:34

thanks diege

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 12:34

thanks nat

Teuch · 02/07/2008 12:53

Hi folks, havein't been on for ages have I? Did I update from my scan and AN appt last week?

Briefly - scan good, changed date to late december, just short of a week further on than I though! They noticed I have a slight bicornuate (heart-shaped) womb and that may explain the prem delivery of DS, so they will re-assess at 20wk scan. Met consultant and he was lovely but bonkers.

Everyone I met quizzed me about where I was from and why I was delivering so far from home - and all of them had been on holiday on or near 'my' island!!

So I'm just past 14wks now - and the nausea is starting to ease, touch wood. Listened to hb this morning and roughly 140bpm... boy?!

Tink, I got very skilled at finding hb last time and yet sometimes, even at 15-16wks, it simply eluded me. I often thought baby was hiding behind noisy placenta or something!!

Right, now I will go and catch up on everyone's news and will post a less 'me' post shortly (sleeping toddler permitting!)

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 12:56

Tink - going completely mad, its Pop not you, sorry!!

No Nat. I mean I know that I don't ov on CD14, in fact I rarely ov before CD20 and have gone to CD25. Therefore if I ov'd on CD21 I would expect AF on CD35 instead the textbook oving on CD14 and AF on CD28. So, using this example, if got a BFP on CD37 I would be 5 + 2 the second I got a BFP going by AF dates but in reality I would be 4 + 2 weeks pg because I ov'd a week later than the textbook example.

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 13:03

Hi Teuch - Glad to hear the scan went ok, you're another one who is further on than she thought, NJ just been told then same!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/07/2008 13:11

Hiya stranger Teuch Glad all was well with the scan So if they think that the shape of your womb may have caused the prem-del, can/will they do something to stop it happening again?

Playing I see, I think more and more MW's are coming round to listening to people when they are telling them they OV'ed early/late, but most of the time they still go off the LMP. There isn't even a space on the notes for an expected OV date. So you will get the scan a week (or so) earlier, then they will go off the scan date, you'd end up getting your 12 week scan a week earlier, but then wait a week longer for the 20 week scan.

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 13:21

Well thats all good for me as the bastards local NHS only offer one scan at 16 weeks here for soem obscure reason!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 02/07/2008 13:33

Oh of course, I forgot about that.

Do you know exactly what they check for at 16 weeks? Is it the dating scan and anomily scan all rolled into one? Or is it more of one than the other? All I'm thinking is that if it is that they check for things like Spina Biffida, Downs Syndrom, missing bones, heart defects etc. you might well be better going as late as you can, to give them the best chance of being able to diagnose correctly.

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 13:40

No idea tbh, never been friends with anyone who gave birth in our area. As lady next door is 7 weeks pg, I think I will confide with her when I am and ask all about it as she's done it all before as well.

Think I may end up paying for private scan(s) anyhow. Not sure I can wait it out till 16 weeks, far too impatient and imagine if you had a mmc and got all they way to 16 weeks finding out baby stopped growing at 8 weeks. Also DH is desperate for a 4d scan, he also wants to know the sex which I am not at all keen on, but we have plenty of months to argue over that one and if it is the only way I can pursuade him to pay for a private scan I may use it as leverage!

lastboxoftampons · 02/07/2008 14:03

Playing - when I was pregnant, I saw the nurse at my GP at about 5 weeks from my LMP. I knew I didn't Ov until about CD18, but frankly she wouldn't really listen to me and just sent the info along to the hospital with the date of my LMP, so I had a scan date according to that. I had also mentioned to her that I felt crampy so she sent me to the EPU. Seeing that I was only 5 weeks going by my LMP, I knew it was unlikely they would see anything and sure enough they were only able to see that it had implanted in my uterus and that's it (it was really just to rule out an ectopic anyway) Had a follow up two weeks later and they were able to see a little flickering heartbeat. THey ended up pushing me back a week, although I was fine with it because I knew I ov'd late. Point is it's really helpful to know when you ovulated so that you don't get disappointed/nervous if a scan isn't showing what is textbook for your LMP and so that you can tell the dr/mw that you know that you ov late so that they don't assume the worst. But I think that's just when you're talking about really early scans (like mine). I would just go by your LMP to schedule your scan.

Playingthewaitinggame · 02/07/2008 14:08

Thats interesting LBOT. I don't know why I'm worrying about it yet, got to get pg first! . Am beginning to get quite desperate to test noe (CD34) but will wait it out till the weekend!

happynappies · 02/07/2008 14:24

Hi everyone - hope you are all well... haven't been here for a little while, had hectic weekend of first birthday parties and christenings, and just about getting over it now.

Can any of you pg ladies remind me when ms is supposed to kick in... Its not that I'm particularly worried about it, its just that I'm praying that I won't get it!! I'll be six weeks tomorrow.

NJ - am worried about you and your pelvis. If you have SPD it is not true what your mw says, that nothing can be done! Don't want to interfere - obviously you know how bad it is, but I'd urge you to push for a physio appt - they can give you a support belt etc, and if (fingers crossed not) it gets even worse, crutches. You should really have proper advice about how to go upstairs/in and out of cars etc - and swimming can actually be quite bad, because you feel weightless in the water and 'fine' - so don't realise what damage you are doing. Particularly avoid breastroke - v. bad!

My mw's attitude when I had SPD was 'oh aches and pains of pregnancy' etc, and because of her lax attitude I ended up being unable to move after the birth (i.e. at all - temporarily paralysed from waist down for over 24 hours) and had to stay in hospital a week, ringing buzzer every time dd cried because I couldn't lift her, then went home on crutches. Sorry for scare story - but I really don't like to hear of people with potential SPD being fobbed off, and really hope that you will get proper help if you think things are getting worse. You don't have to accept that there is nothing that can be done. Ignore me if its not too bad, or you're not too worried. Sorry!

tinkspregnantwithnumber2 · 02/07/2008 15:02

gr8 news teuch on scan cant believe u r 14 wks that 4 reassurance feel abit better and less moody. i am sure that i can feel movement have been unsure for the last week i am pretty sure it is
wow happy 6 wks tom already i had sickness from about 6 or 7 till 11 wks has eased off now, also have more energy.

happynappies · 02/07/2008 15:14

oh Tink - so I'm not out of the woods??! I really can't remember from last time - I thought I felt sick from the word go, but my memory is so hazy... Glad you're feeling better now!
