Positive pregnancy test at 7 DPO.

Mumofboys96 · 30/07/2025 21:01

I am a mum of 4 boys so pretty clued in with everything pregnancy related. However, I tested at 7 DPO in the evening and got pretty strong positives (see picture). Showed up within a minute and I was in absolute shock as I really didn't expect to see even a faint line but can't help myself from testing early. Anyone else get a true positive result this early in their pregnancy? All my other pregnancies showed up 1/2 days before my period was due. Any experiences welcome.

Unlikely to have an established pregnancy 7 dpo so the test is a bit pointless, really. You might go on to have an established pregnancy or you might not, no way to know at this point, but more than half of conceptions don't implant.

Thanks @Lemniscate8 for that insight.. Not really what I asked though. I'd like people's experiences that tested positive this early and went on to have an "established" pregnancy or not. Implantation can take place from 6 dpo so anything is possible.

Its like I tried to explain, its meaningless. Its like saying anyone thrown 3 sixes in a row? Yes of course it is possible, but throwing the first 6 doesn't mean you are going to throw a second or a third. Lots of people will get a positive at 7dpo. But it doesn't mean they are any more likely to get a positive at 14dpo. They might. Or they might not.

DoubleDandelion · 31/07/2025 06:24

I had a similarly strong positive at 7DPO @Mumofboys96 lines got stronger over the next few days to my missed period and I stopped testing. Had (with hindsight) VERY intense early pregnancy symptoms and a reassurance scan at 7 weeks because I was in a lot of pain and worried- identical twins!

The type of twins we had, the egg splits between days 4 and 8 so guessing that had already happened and I was producing double the amount of HCG, same could happen with non-ID twins too because you’d have released more than one egg,

Don’t know if that would be good or bad news to you 😅

Mumofboys96 · 31/07/2025 06:51

Thank you @DoubleDandelion, that is amazing! Twins both fascinate and scare me lol The tests are coming up darker than any that ive done previously and have been positive at like 12/13 DPO. So I keep thinking is there a reason its as dark so early, like twins etc. Have also seen that sometimes with girls, HCG levels can be a little higher in early pregnancy. Obviously, I've only experienced pregnancy with boys.. Haven't too many symptoms yet, mainly headaches that don't really go away, tender breasts and some cramping.

@Lemniscate8 from what I've read, it's actually quite rare (but possible) to get a positive reading like that at 7 dpo, so not sure where you get your logic. I've been pregnant now and had 4 babies and never had a positive that early. Hence why im shocked and asking other people's experience. Not whatever "logic" you've been giving. If you have no personal experience, can you please go comment on someone else's post, thank you 👌

I would assume it’s a false positive unfortunately

timestheyareachanging25 · 31/07/2025 07:28

Having started at hundreds of tests over the years and had lots of losses - with these particular brand tests it could go either way - I’ve seen them this dark before and it’s been a really awful indent but also a molar pregnancy when hcg levels are very high very early I’ve also seen it where quite often when an embryo tries to implant there is a sudden surge of hcg and so you get a BFP like this but implantation fails to complete and tomorrow will be a BFN.

at 7dpo my test (same brand)…..with twins….wasn't even this dark which make me a bit more reluctant to say for sure on this one x

I answered your question because it is an area I am very knowledgeable in. I assumed you were asking because you want answers. I have answered you. Your test means nothing. sorry. It doesn't mean you are going to get pregnant or that you are not going to get pregnant. it doesn't mean anything. I hope you do have a baby if that is what you want. I am sorry the answer I gave you is not what you want to hear, but you asked.

FYI I had a urine sample sent for a routine set of tests before an operation a few years ago. The pregnancy test was positive. It was many years after the removal of my ovaries during a hysterectomy

Mumofboys96 · 31/07/2025 10:38

Thank you for sharing your experience @timestheyareachanging25. Will just have to wait and see.. Have done more tests since yesterday's and all positive.. so will just keep testing and see what happens.

@Lemniscate8 your delivery of what you were trying to say wasn't great.. I don't know a single person that after getting a positive test would want to hear its "pointless" or "meaningless". Whatever is happening is definitely not either of those words, no matter if I end up with a baby or not.

I know its early but those look positive to me. My only suggestion is test on a different test, like maybe a frer to be certain. Over in another group im on, some woman are getting positives on 7dpo. It might not be the norm but its possible.

houwseevryweekend · 01/08/2025 12:06

Those look positive to me! You may be more than 7DPO though as ovulation could have happened earlier than planned. I’ve had a BFP at 9 DPO but didn’t check at 7/8 DPO so maybe could have seen it earlier.

@Lemniscate8You can’t get a positive test without implantation so this embryo has to implanted. You can lose a baby at any time but that doesn’t mean a pregnancy can’t be confirmed with a test before a scan. And no doctor is going to see a positive test and think it’s meaningless - no matter what stage. For example they’re not going to offer you medication that’s unsafe for pregnancy because your positive test is ‘meaningless’. Or withhold supplements because an early positive test is meaningless. OP is pregnant now.

MauraLabingi · 01/08/2025 13:05

7dpo is very early. Mostly likely you ovulated a day earlier than you think (this is especially likely if you only used ovulation sticks OR bbt, and not both).

Failing that it's a pregnancy with very high HCG. Could be just a high-HCG singleton (outliers always exist), but twins are definitely a consideration. Molar pregnancy too, but obviously this is rare.

Nosejug · 01/08/2025 17:38

Some bizarre messages from one poster! Def not meaningless.

So, I guess I don’t want to scare, bc I’ve heard of others who had early positives and successful pregnancies, but I’ll add my own experience. I had a 6dpo positive, v sure of dates. First thing my fertility clinic flagged was ectopic or molar. It was ectopic. Now that was 6dpo and a digital test gave 1-2 weeks on that day too, so I had piled on loads of hcg v early (my progesterone was v v high too). Apparently implanting outside the uterus can cause high signals for hcg. But from 6 to 7 dpo there’s a world of difference and possibility.

Could you take one of those early tests first response do?

Mumofboys96 · 01/08/2025 17:59

Thank you everyone for the comments! Thanks @Nosejug for sharing that tough experience.. unfortunately in Northern Ireland their isnt much support in early pregnancy unless you book your own private scan from 6 weeks.. I'm 9 dpo today and have taken a digital and clear blue rapid test and both positive 1-2 weeks. Will keep an eye out and maybe book an early scan for reassurance.

Ah yeah the clinic was only involved because I was about to start ivf. The EPU weren’t interested until I started having ectopic symptoms at which point they gave me repeat bloods and scans to show haemorrhagic areas on my right side. I’ll bet yours is just early implantation and I really don’t mean to worry you, just, good to have a heads up. Best of luck :)

Op, did you find out for sure?

Mumofboys96 · 06/08/2025 05:42

@simsbustinoutmimi I have taken tests everyday for the past week lol definitely progression so I'm hoping all is good but I suppose I won't know anything until I have either an early scan at 6 weeks or 12 week NHS one. Have added in my line progression and have gotten positives on other brands too.

Congratulations 💛
I got my first very faint positive (not quite as strong as yours!) on those tests on what I thought was 9dpo but from scans since and some spotting symptoms i think must have been just 7dpo - very rare but these things obviously can happen ☺️

and just the one baby cooking in there 😆

Shanya123 · 18/08/2025 11:15

Congratulations @Mumofboys96 how are you these days? Have you had a scan yet and confirmed your dates? I am 7dpo today and I really want to wait and not waste a test but I am so curious if it is possible to get a vfl at 7dpo.

Mumofboys96 · 18/08/2025 13:38

Thank you @Shanya123 😊 Nausea has kicked in and I already look about 16 weeks pregnant lol baby no.5 is hiding for no one! I had a family wedding at the weekend and all my aunts knew straight away... Haven't had an early scan as they are pretty costly and keeping our money for a private gender scan at 16 weeks as I love doing them! I am nearly 6 weeks according to my own dates but won't know until 12 week scan whether dates are correct, they will adjust then if not. I had bought cheap ones off amazon, like 25 of them for £5 so I tested twice a day for a whole week from 7 dpo 😅 I can never wait! Wishing you the best of luck!! Xx

@Mumofboys96 Amazing! I wish you a healthy pregnancy ❤️ I will wait for tomorrow’s fmu to test with my only hcg test lol. I’ll have a look on Amazon and order some cheap ones as I can’t just sit around and wait for AF 😁 . If I am pregnant I’ll have to ring EPU as soon as possible and book an early scan to confirm the pregnancy’s location due to my ectopic pregnancy history

I’m fascinated to see what your scan shows 😊 I’ve never seen such dark tests at 7dpo. And as dark as the control line at 12dpo! Despite what one poster thinks (who should really look at the way they talk to people!)

I think implanting days, and then also the base HCG people start at, both dictate when people get BFP and how dark they are.
I think I start off really low, like 1 mIU. So even by 10dpo I’m still not going to get a positive test. I’ve been getting mine as faint lines at only 12dpo.
Others can implant early and start at 3 or 4, so they’re going to get earlier positives.
