Ttc after an hsg test

Sunf10wer · 16/05/2025 22:14

Hi, just as the title says really, had my hsg test this week, have read lots about increased chances of conceiving in the months after and the consultant said that it can "open everything up". Would obviously be lovely to have success but at the same time not getting my hopes up too much.

Anyone else in a similar position or have any experiences of ttc after hsg?

I'm sorry you are feeling that way, especially when you should of came out feeling hopeful. Did they make a plan for next steps or anything?

It's positive that your tests are good but also tough to have nothing to fix.
I'm ok, also wondering that after so long, will I ever see a bfp again. Also still have that little hope, which I wish would go away because it makes each month with no success harder.

She has referred me for more blood tests as the cycle days were out and also referred me for the HSG to check and flush my tubes. It is hard to keep that little bit of hope and at the moment I just don’t have it.

Sunf10wer · 22/06/2025 12:45

That's great you are going to get the hsg, hoping your appointment comes through very soon. The consultant that referred me for mine said it can open everything up and I have read alot about success the months following it. How are you feeling today?

@Sunf10wer sorry I have only seen these messages I'm on cd 14 today. I'm hoping it happens this month because if it doesn't I have an appointment with private doctor to discuss my IVF.. I don't have time to wait on NHS as I'm 40.

@Iris2024 so sorry u are feeling tis way.. I'm the same it has changed me as a person it really has. I got pregnant two years ago but had a miscarriage and had to have a d&c.. but as @Sunf10wer said having the hsg may up your chances.. I got mine done in may so tis will be my second month ttc from hsg so I'm hoping it works. I really don't want to start IVF but if I have to I will

Another success story here.

23 months infertility and got pregnant 2 months after my HSG (I was also started on Clomid, even though I was ovulating)

March2023CH · 23/06/2025 18:13

@GloriousBlue congratulations! Can I ask why did they give you clomid if you already ovulated on your own?

Sunf10wer · 23/06/2025 19:54

@March2023CH What cd do you normally ovulate? Are you trying anything new this cycle?
I am similar timings to you, the last time I was pregnant was 2 years ago and it ended in a mmc. It is such a long time to wait... shows how much we want this! Hope so much we get good news asap.

I think the clomid is to encourage two eggs to be released instead of one to give you a better chance of concieving each cycle... I didn't have a clue about this before today, but funny enough I was googling "next steps when all fertility tests are normal" this morning and that came up lol. x

@GloriousBlue Lovely to hear success stories, thank you for sharing and congratulations ❤️

@March2023CH The consultant said it was like 'giving me more darts to throw at the dartboard'. I went private- cost about £200 for the consult and scan, as well as the Clomid prescription. All was normal on my scan (no PCOS), and my bloods were normal when checked, but he said Clomid was basically the next step and he would be surprised if it didn't work (aged 33, one pregnancy 4 years prior).

March2023CH · 23/06/2025 21:21

@Sunf10wer oh wow we are very similar I had MMC two years ago too. I'm trying the mucinex method again this month along with all the normal vitiams. I had a positive ovulation test clear blue and easy at home on cd 13 which was yesterday. I had intercourse cd 12 13 and 14. I put photos of my tests and times into chat gpt and it says ovulation should be today or early tomorrow morning.

@GloriousBlue thats great. I hope I'm offered something like that with my appointment although due to my age they will prob start IVF. My amh is 23.7pmol/l which is apparently very good for my age.

I hope this month works and I get pregnant.

The whole thing is exhausting isn't it

March2023CH · 23/06/2025 21:27

Just wondering if anyone has used the baby aspirin method? You basically take baby aspirin 1dpo untill you get a positive pregnancy test or u get your period

Or does anyone have any other things they do?

Sunf10wer · 24/06/2025 07:09

Sorry forgot the tag @March2023CH

You are right about it being exhausting. We actually started ttc in Autumn 2022, fell pregnant twice but both ended in mmc, so we will have been ttc for 3 years in September 🤯 cant belive that typing it! But the past 2 years of that, not a hint of a positive test.
It's nice to talk to someone with that understanding, ttc for so long without any positive tests in between is very tough, isn't it.

Yes I keep reading about mucinex, what uk alternative are you using? I found a liquid Benylin on Amazon that has the guaifenesin ingredient I wondered would that do for next cycle?

Yes I tried the baby asprin for a few cycles before. But then when I had my testing, it came back that I don't have the blood clotting disorder, which i think is what they suggest it for, so I never know if there is any point for me to use it now.

@Sunf10wer we started trying jan 2023 and when I say trying it wasn't full on no ovulation tests no vitiams nothing just seen what happens then I got pregnant in march (only had intercourse once that week on cd 12) and I found out I was pregnant in April. Went to the scan in June and to my shock there was nothing on the scan... It was a blighted ovum. Had to have d&c and the doctor in hospital told me not to try for 3 months ( which I later found out was wrong) but since then no positive tests and no joke almost everyone I know was getting pregnant. A girl I went to school with got pregnant from a one night stand she was laughing telling me oh I have no idea who the father is! I asked chat gpt the best version of mucinex I can use here as we don't have it her and it said Robitissinn so I'm using it. My ovulation tests drive me up the wall.. one day positive next negative then positive again. I used easy at home and clearblue. I only found out from using ovusense that I was ovulating 3 or 4 days after the static smiley so for a few months id been timing intercourse wrong

clare1234x · 24/06/2025 09:29

We were ttc for nearly 2 years. Got referred for a HSG and got pregnant that very cycle. Fingers crossed for you too 🤞🏼 xx

March2023CH · 24/06/2025 09:33

@clare1234x that's brilliant! I had my HSG last month and didn't get pregnant 🥺 hopefully this month will have good news

March2023CH · 24/06/2025 09:33

@clare1234x that's brilliant! I had my HSG last month and didn't get pregnant 🥺 hopefully this month will have good news

I was told you’re more fertile for at least 3 months after it so stay positive! ❤️

March2023CH · 24/06/2025 09:58

@clare1234x yes I heard that too so hopefully it all goes well ❤️‍🩹

March2023CH · 29/06/2025 10:46

@Sunf10wer how are you now? I'm about 4 or 5 dpo. Havent noticed My symptoms but it's way too early really

Sunf10wer · 30/06/2025 22:13

Hey @March2023CH

How are you managing? The tww is so hard, it's impossible not to analyse every tiny thing.

I am ok thanks, a bfn for me. I am 12dpo today, so period will be here on Wed. I am taking lots extra next cycle, genuinely think I could rattle if shaken 😂 but I thought, why not, I have nothing to loose. Next month is the Third cycle after hsg. I am going to not track to try to be more relaxed as well because I have noticed that i am so tense every month after the positive opk. We will see how that goes.

OP posts:
March2023CH · 01/07/2025 10:21

@Sunf10wer sorry to hear that. I'm 6 or 7 dpo. Last night and the night before I had cramps like my period was going to start.. but as you say u overanalyze every little thing. I do recommend the Robitissinn I mentioned before as last month and this month I've noticed ewcm so I'm hoping it helps. If I'm not pregnant this cycle I'm booking a private appointment to get IVF started I don't have time to wait on NHS. I called them in June to see what the what was like and she told me they are only now seeing clients that were referred in Dec last year.

Sunf10wer · 02/07/2025 10:31

@March2023CH cramps are a good sign! Hopefully you never need to make that appointment! I think you mentioned nmn before? If it was, what brand did you get? I have been looking it up but there are so many.

OP posts:
March2023CH · 02/07/2025 11:32

@Sunf10wer I can't remember the brand name but I will find out when I get home and let you know. I've gotten cramps a week before period due before so I'm not getting my hopes up. I wish there was a rest you could do the day after you ovulate instead of tww

March2023CH · 02/07/2025 22:03

@Sunf10wer I got my nmn from tik tok shop it's Azaroe NMN

March2023CH · 05/07/2025 15:49

10 dpo at negative test 😭

Sunf10wer · 05/07/2025 21:39

@March2023CH Thank you, I found a powder and have ordered it.

I'm so sorry about the bfn, it is so hard especially when you put so much into it this cycle. I hope you are ok x

OP posts:
CharLdn · 06/07/2025 09:59

@Sunf10wer I conceived the cycle after my hycosy after trying for 18 months.

Sadly it ended at 5.5 weeks with a miscarriage but I do think that there can be higher chances 🤞

March2023CH · 07/07/2025 18:15

The test I took on 10 dpo was completely negative but I just looked at the packet and it says it can detect pregnancy from the first day after missed period and it can detect levels of 25miu.. am I clutching at straws here.. should my level at 10 dpo be 25mui?
