londonlottie it is great that your first phonecall went well and you were able to get the information you needed (I presume?). I am at the idea of you discussing the ins & outs (what a terrible pun - sorry!!!) of IVF in earshot of other diners.

Could you look into having some investigations into your fertility done privately, before going the whole IVF route?? You might find a less invasive or cheaper solution?

minxi interesting what you say about acupuncture. I am currently having reflexology (which I enjoy) but my reflexologist is leaving the country in a few weeks and I am considering replacing reflexology sessions with acupuncture. (I can't afford both!)

Speaking of which - I have reflexology tonight...yay!! (although it is less of a foot-massage and more torture these days. She works my feet hard )

No, of course it doesn't sound terrible! And please do feel free to talk about it on here. We might not have as much to feed back as the IVF threads, but we're here to listen!

I'm not sure about accupuncture or reflexology at this point. I've had a progesterone test, but it was just done last Tuesday and they said 7 days for the results. So I'd liek to see what they say and then have a talk with the doctor again. Incidentally...spotting is lighter again this afternoon.

NotSoNewAnymore · 07/07/2008 16:52

lottie that doesn't sound terrible at all, you need to make decisions that work for you...

lastbox your spotting does sound unusual. When did you last do an HPT?

lastboxoftampons · 07/07/2008 17:03

I did one on Saturday morning. It was way too early for anything, I know...I'm curious to see what my temp is tomorrow morning, hopefully I won't wake up two hours early again!

Morning all,
It was my first time updating the list in the morning - so hope I got it right!

lastbox hope this sorts itself out (one way or another!) soon. How were the temps this morning?

I have an appointment to see a Dermatologist today - I have a mole on my thigh that is inflamed. I know that he will want to remove it for testing, and whilst I want it gone ASAP - I also know that if he removes it today or tomorrow, I will be er....out of action...for a few days. Which is exactly when I ovulate

My DH (rightly) says that I need to get my priorities straight and get this mole removed ASAP....but the whole ttc thing does take over doesn't it!! I will see what happens - fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about your mole, NotSo. I had one removed from my back a few years ago which was a nightmare place to have a wound as everything I did stretched it. I have an impressive scar(!) I'm sure it will be much more neat & tidy on your thigh. Typical that it interferes with your fertile time - maybe you'll find it won't be a problem.

What's your news LBOT? Any nice high temps from you this morning? Any more spotting?

Lottie I know nothing about IVF, but would be very interested to hear about your progress. MN is a great forum for sharing knowledge so we would benefit from what you learn, and you would get things off your chest

I am bored, bored, bored by this 2ww. My chart is the most unpg looking chart ever. It's the same as my last unpg chart, except the temps are lower hmm. Roll on AF for me.

Morning all
Well, back to the beginning for me. It's funny, I think I have a different reaction every month. Last month I felt a bit hysterical and out of sorts. This month it's a bit of relief because of all of the wobbling, but I'm also starting to panic. I've been a right old bitch today too - had a huge blow out with DH this morning and have been on the verge of tears ever since I realized my birthday is exactly two months from today. I'll be 32 and while I know that's not old, I will officially be the oldest person in my family to have their first child - ! If we ever manage to conceive. I suppose the good news is that I rang my GP this morning and my progesterone test came back normal with a level of 46. I think it was taken too early as I'm now agreeing with FF that I didn't actually ov until CD20, so it was done 4dpo instead of 7. Should be okay though because it's meant to measure the peak of progesterone, which should be higher than 30 and I was higher than that before my peak.

Anyway, that's enough about me for a while - how is everyone else?

Yarnie Lottie is right about your chart! Remember I had temps this month that were higher than the month I conceived...it doesnt' matter a bit! We'll be wathcing with interest!

Thank you, sound voices of reason! God, it's bloody hard to practise what you preach, isn't it?! At the beginning I thought that if it was going to take a long time to conceive, at least I'd have the drama of the 2ww to carry me through - only to find I'm bored to tears by it all on my second cycle . Sorry, girls! Will be more chipper tomorrow. Promise.

LBOT Bleurgh. You're back on day 1. So sorry about that It's unsurprising that you've taken a few strips off your DH. He is closest to you and bound to bear the brunt when you're disappointed. Try not to obsess too much about supposed milestones, like being the oldest in your family to conceive. Everyone is conceiving later these days (a sweeping generalisation, but you know what I mean). It will happen, and soon. I feel positive about our little Hoo-Har gang. I reckon we'll all be up the duff before the year is out, or sooner! How's that for positive thinking

lastboxoftampons · 08/07/2008 11:06

Thanks guys! I know I'm being all dramatic - it's just this whole TTC thing makes you pay so much attention to the damn calendar!

Oh, Lottie I hope I'm not rubbing off on you with all my spotting! Or with the rummaging, which is just making things worse, I think! You know, the spotting I had earlier in my cycle - if it was just a normal period and we weren't TTC, I don't think I would've even noticed it! And I think you're right about my ov date too. It all just doens't make sense! Damn OPKs! They were supposed to make things clearer!

Anyway, THIS is my strategy for this month! Vitex & B6 recipe Although slightly modified as I'm not very good with the Robitussen. I know Vitex is controversial, but I'm going to give it a try - I'm away from about CD17 of this month, so it'd be great if I could O just a little bit earlier

lastboxoftampons · 08/07/2008 11:09

Oh, and Yarnie RE: fight with DH - we've also had the builders in for 5 weeks now, so I suppose there's underlying stress there. He's the one who's liaising with them although I'm in charge of certain bits and pieces - ie ordering the kitchen - that are dependent on the work schedule. Builders are reluctant to be pinned down to a schedule and DH tells me he's going to be all tough with them and then chickens out. Then he gets annoyed with me for coming down on him. It's a vicious cycle!

NotSoNewAnymore · 08/07/2008 12:21

lastbox sorry you are back on CD1 - you are fully entitled to a day or two of disappointment (Never mind having the stress of builders in the house!)

Good luck with the B6 and Vitex. I seem to be having success with B6 (My LP increased from 10 to 13 days last month while on B6, lets see what happens this month.) A good friend of mine swears by Vitex. After a few months of very erratic cycles, she tried Ovulex (Which contains Vitex) and conceived straight away. Good luck!

yarnie I know what you mean about being bored by the whole two week wait thing...I have to admit that the idea of possibly 'not properly' trying this month has the upside of a quiet 2 ww (Who am I kidding..I will be symptom spotting as always....)

LBOT sorry you are at the top again.

Lottie - I know what you mean about IVF, it is now getting a lot clearer and the girlies on the IVF/Assisted thread are so helpful and lovely. They pointed me in the direction of HFEA website which is very useful.

Having gone to the open evening at our local fertility clinic, I will tell you that they do fertility testing. They have everything there and can check everything out (tubes, scans, sperm etc) on site. OK it will cost you, but I wish we had done that originally, as that could have saved us quite a bit of time. Hope that helps.

Glad you and OH are able to chat about it etc.

As for we I have FINALLY got an OPK + today, but am baby sitting tonight, so am not sure DH will be able to stay awake, but as this is our final month to try naturally I might wake him up!!!!

Yarnie · 09/07/2008 07:10

Another boring, predictable temp from me. I predict a tiny elevation in temp over the next few days before the drop.

How is everyone on this dreary day?

Hello all,

I am typing to you from the Twilight zone...(or so it feels )

I had that Dermatologist appointment yesterday. He took one look at the mole and said he was 'quite certain' that it looked like a Malignant Melanoma. He removed it right away. We get the results back next week - depending on whether it is a Malignant Melanoma and how deep the tumour goes, we decide on next steps.

My mind has been racing ever since, funny enough...I feel like I am in some alternate reality. A miscarriage and cancer - within 5 months?? It almost seems to cruel to be true...

Anyway - like the good ttc'er that I am, I have continued to temp and there was a MASSIVE jump this morning to 36.67. Either I have ovulate early - or the stress and/minor operation yesterday has affected my temps....

And sorry - this post has been all me-me-me...

Yarnie · 09/07/2008 09:57

Bloody hell, NotSo - if ever anyone was entitled to a "me" post...

What upsetting news, for you. I very much hope that your dermatologist is wrong and your results come back with reassuring news. I have Aussie relatives who have had a number of melanomas between them. They were all caught at stage 1, excised and that was the end of it. They are all well and happy and covered in sun block.

Do come and chat if you need to. Otherwise, keep busy.

{{{{Hugs}}}}

NotSoNewAnymore · 09/07/2008 10:03

Thanks Yarnie...exactly the hopeful story I needed to hear.

lastboxoftampons · 09/07/2008 10:37

Oh, NSNA!!!! I'm so sorry! I don't have any stories - hopeful or not - but hoping for the best news possible for you. {{{hugs}}}

Hang in there Yarnie Here's hoping it gets exciting for you real soon!

And what the HELL is up (or DOWN actuallY!) with my temperature?!?!?? Am I f*king dead or something? Oh, well, as soon as AF leaves (which is still very light/borderline spotting, by the way ) I'm going to swtich to hoo harring because I don't think my oral temps are accurate!

Hi all, thanks for your lovely support. I need it today - as I go between moments of optimism and sheer terror. I made the mistake of googling it - what a silly idea. Now I have all sorts of horror stories in my mind!

lastbox I laughed at your 'am I dead comment', can imagine you checking your pulse in the morning Have you seen Spamalot on the Westend? There is a similar amusing scene in that...

lottie funny how we tweak FF with our temps...feeling better because the FF Website looks good! (I do the same!!).
