Following this, as I have an appointment with Professor Shehata at the end of the month (am currently going through my sixth miscarriage).

Jecca88 · 05/07/2025 12:18

Hey ladies, @Hopeandfaith1990 @Gizmo1983 thanks again for the reassurance. Just did another test on 10dpo and got a faint positive - kind of can’t believe it - will keep testing and see if it gets darker.

Welcome @TammyinCork i am so sorry to hear about your 6th MC. How are you doing? This is a safe space. Are you going through NHS or CRP clinic? Have you had commonalities between your MC?

morning ladies, another positive result this morning @Gizmo1983 @Hopeandfaith1990 thank you for your kind words.

@Jecca88 such good news, congratulations. I am rooting for you and sending you so much luck xx

Just back from holiday and lovely to come back to so much happy scan news. At times I feel sceptical about the whole process and then read this thread and it gives me so much hope, so thank you.

This month will be our first month trying since the miscarriage in March, not looking forward to the pred or the intralipids, but happy to have moved onto phase 2 and to be getting rid of the condoms.

sending lots of luck and a hug to anyone who needs one x

Gizmo1983 · 06/07/2025 12:05

@Jecca88 lol good news comes in 3’s 😀😀😀. Such fab news just keeping everything crossed. We need a speed time up button wouldn’t that be just awesome.
welcome @TammyinCork so sorry what you’ve been through xxxx
hi @Fletchasketch oooh you sound lovely and refreshed I hope you had a fab and well deserved holiday ugh I can handle the pred but hate the intralipids lol xxx
love to all xx

Deerdancer34 · 06/07/2025 15:47

@MC8 I really hope your GP is helpful for you 🤞 I thought Progesterone would be a given, why do they have to make it so difficult, its not like we've not been through enough already!

@Jecca88 @Hopeandfaith1990 @Objectiontime I'm so so delighted with your news, it makes me so emotional...keeping everything crossed for you 💕

@Fletchasketch Good luck 💪

@TammyinCork I'm so sorry you are going through all this but this thread was definitely a lifesaver and it was helpful to chat to others going to Dr S.

TammyinCork · 06/07/2025 18:56

@Jecca88 @Gizmo1983 @Deerdancer34 Thank you for the welcome! I am from London but based in Cork, Ireland, so no more NHS for me (unfortunately). I am going to CRP privately, and may transfer to an Irish-based consultant if I get pregnant again.

4 of my 6 losses were MMCs and two were spontaneous. All of the foetuses stopped growing at 6-7 weeks. I also have a healthy five-year-old son from my second pregnancy...

Jecca88 · 07/07/2025 09:45

thank you ladies, had a bit of a wobble last night when i had some spotting when i wiped. Not sure if its implantation bleeding - did another test this morning - which is a bit stronger, but still not a dark line. Need to call CRP and book Intralipids, but i am super conscious of ectopic pregnancy. Basically 4 1/2 years ago a close friend of mine died suddenly during the pandemic and turns out she had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, its super rare to die from it and i know covid made it extra complicated as the ambulence took 2 hours to arrive- but i have always had such health anxiety around it. When can they rule out an ectopic?

Hi lovely, sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious but it’s totally okay and expected to wobble. The spotting could well be implantation, it goes on for much longer than the internet says.

im so sorry to hear about your friend, that’s completely heartbreaking and of course you’re worried about ectopic now. Some things that may reassure you - they can identify an ectopic as soon as you should be able to see a sac on a scan - eg about 5-5.5 weeks, so very very early. Once you can confirm a sac in the right place, you can pretty much rule out ectopic. They are usually only considered life threatening much later on, to rupture it has to be much bigger. With all our early scanning pregnancy, if you had one it would definitely be identified much earlier on. My ectopic was first found at just over 6 weeks. I had no symptoms at all of ectopic. No bleeding or pain or anything.

it’s highly likely your spotting is just implantation but as we know at this stage it’s the world hardest waiting game. We’re all rooting for you and holding your hand xxx

Fletchasketch · 07/07/2025 10:20

@Jecca88 oh crikey, how awful, your poor friend. My understanding is that as soon as the pregnancy sack can be seen on the ultrasound, you can tell so from about 5 weeks. I think they could do a blood test for you more quickly than that though. I'm sorry, sure there are others in the group who know more than me.

What I do know is that spotting is very very normal, and usually fine. Ectopics are still incredibly rare, but I totally understand your concern.

Sending you a big hug.

@TammyinCork Glad to hear you made the appointment, hope you get some answers.

@Gizmo1983 Hope you're feeling a bit better this week, you have been in my thoughts. Glad to hear the pred was okay for you, what were the effects of the intralipids? I have to say that was the one I was least worried about, but realised I don't know much at all.

Hopeandfaith1990 · 07/07/2025 10:20

welcome @TammyinCorksorry to see you here but as Jecca says it’s a safe and supportive space. Sorry to hear of all your losses, I’ve had a similar experience with 2 MMCs discovered later but stopped at 6-7 weeks. It’s so hard. That’s a long commute to Dr S. are you in the beginning testing stages? Xxx

Hopeandfaith1990 · 07/07/2025 10:21

Thank you @Deerdancer34 !! How are you doing? Xx

Yes, exactly that. Seems that there are very few consultants in Ireland who even believe in NK cells, let alone test for them / treat them! It is pretty behind on this issue, compared to the UK.

CarpeDiem75 · 07/07/2025 15:45

So many good news! @Jecca88 spotting is very common but I do get your fear as I am the same!
I am meant to take a pregnancy test tomorrow as I will be 10dpo so the clinic wants me to test so I can stop prednisolone if I am not pregnant, I know deep down I am not I am so upset about it, my breast is not even a tiny bit sore. I always have sore breast whether I am pregnant or not but this month nothing at all! The only changed from previous cycles is I am taking Hydroxy but I read it doesn’t impact symptoms… so I hope my hormones are still ok 😒
sending you all good vibes!!! x

Objectiontime · 07/07/2025 16:50

Hi all, sorry been so busy the last few days and I see the thread has been very active. If I didn’t say before, thank you all for your kind wishes re my current pregnancy. I am currently feeling okay. Very nauseous if I don’t eat regularly and still peeing for England but obviously you won’t get any complaints about all that from me. So, in no particular order…

@TammyinCork as others have said, welcome to the thread. As I have said to others before, not a place you want to be but you have our full support because we are all in this together. So sorry for your losses and here’s to a much more hopeful future for you.

@CarpeDiem75 Sorry you are feeling negative vibes. It sucks, we would all agree with that. I had several cycles in Pred before this one and I wondered if and when I would get another positive.

@Jecca88 Such amazing news. Sending you positive thoughts and hugs Hun.

@Gizmo1983 Hope you are feeling a bit better hun? I do want you to enjoy this pregnancy if you can. Appreciate its damn difficult. Maybe you will give yourself some peace after the 20 week scan. I know I will try to do that if I get there.

I’m too tired to type any more but I will try harder to keep up and sending love to you all ❤️Xxx

I was a little sceptical when I was first diagnosed but I did a lot of research and read a lot of studies and it made me feel more confident in the concept and treatment. I suggest listening to Dr S on the podcast mentioned earlier if you haven’t already, it’s called ‘don’t tell me to relax’ and I think Dr S is the most recent episode. It’s really detailed and interesting. Do you have good recurrent miscarriage units in Ireland? Will they support the treatment even if they don’t offer it?

Deerdancer34 · 07/07/2025 20:37

@TammyinCork I'm not sure how forward the UK is! NK cells seems to be such a contentious issue... I do hope you will be able to get some support in Ireland too.

@Jecca88 Oh Jecca so sorry about your friend, there are no words. If it helps, with my ectopic I didn't bleed until 7 weeks and CRP discovered it at the 6 week scan, so I would say it was too early for that bleeding to be ectopic and unlikely to rupture a tube because its so early. To find an ectopic either an early scan or you have 2 blood tests 48hrs apart to see how your hcg levels are. Sending you big hugs, we know how hard this is and we're all sending you lots of love.

@Hopeandfaith1990 I'm good thank you, just about to start up the blood tests to start trying for number 2. I know I shouldn't say it because I am incredibly lucky to now have my daughter but the thought of starting all the treatment again does make me feel a bit fed up, especially when friends around you 'just get pregnant ' and we have a whole rigmarole to go through... Don't get me wrong, I'm so glad there's an option to try at least but sometimes you just think it's all a bit unfair! I was so tempted to try without CRP but then the thought of more miscarriages... you end up feeling a bit trapped because you don't know if it could happen naturally but do you risk it! Hope you are keeping well xx

@CarpeDiem75 Don't give up hope, when I was convinced I wasn't pregnant was the time it actually worked! It's hard month in, month out isn't it. What makes me sad is never having that pure joy of a positive pregnancy test. Sending you big hugs.

Lots of love everyone 💕

Jecca88 · 08/07/2025 08:52

Thank you so much everyone, @Hopeandfaith1990 and @Fletchasketch and @Deerdancer34 thank you for your reassurance regarding ectopic. I spoke with CRP yesterday and sent pics of the pregnancy tests and they asked me to do another this morning - not much change since yesterday - so waiting for their call to see what i should do. If this is a chemical - i would just rather it go quickly. The waiting and limbo is horrible. Not had much spotting, just a bit of brownish on the paper when i wipe.

@Jecca88 it's just rubbish that the first trimester is so anxiety-ridden for us all. I don't have anything helpful to add, but you are in my thoughts and hoping those tests get darker tomorrow. As people kept reminding me, there is literally nothing more you can do at this point. Sending a big hug.

Objectiontime · 08/07/2025 12:17

@Fletchasketch

i agree with you completely on our stress levels. Thank goodness for this thread. The support on here is amazing ❤️

Fletchasketch · 08/07/2025 12:37

@Objectiontime 100%. My accupuncturist told me to stay off the forums, and I said 'no way'- these women are literally the only people who understand! So glad to have this support.

How are you doing? Do you have another scan booked in?

@Fletchasketch i am not too bad. Happy to have seen a heartbeat and equally happy to have got further than I have before. Praying the Pred is saving little bean 😃. I think I am hoping that where I had the MMC first time and then the very early losses my body got used to going into kill mode every time but now I have the treatment it is saying “ooh no need to react, chill, just a harmless tiny human”. We shall see though. My next scan will be the dreaded 12 week one and I might ask for one between now and then if I feel too stressed. Our EPU are pretty good at scanning for reassurance but I’m not keen to go private as I have heard some negative stories (unless it is a proper private fertility clinic). Xxx

Gizmo1983 · 08/07/2025 13:15

Hey @Jecca88 have CRP contacted you back yet ? I’m so sorry about your friend that is just tragic with all the early scans we have there’s no way that will be you. I’ve got everything crossed this goes the right way, I am the queen of not coping with the unknown the only thing that ever helped me was that the outcome is pretty much already set and there’s nothing you can do except the meds/ look after yourself and I know that doesn’t help one joy most the time. xxx
