Strong positive 6dpo

Looking for any help or advice! We were unsuccessful trying to conceive last month, negative tests up until the day my period arrived on time. I believe I ovulated on Wednesday 11th Sept- we did not have any intercourse before this date.
On Tuesday 17th Sept I had light spotting so out of curiosity took a pregnancy test even though I didn’t think I’d see anything and was shocked to see such strong positives! I did multiple tests on 3 different brands and all were the same. I was definitely only 6dpo (or Less!) so what is going on here? I’m so confused why it’s so strong. Anything I’ve found online of peoples positive tests at 6dpo are extremely faint and even then responses say it wouldn’t be this strong so I’m starting to panic something is very wrong. Has anyone been in the same boat?

@whateveryouwantmetosay
Omg imagine that I'm so invested in this story

LucyLou0527 · 20/09/2024 15:28

I would book in for a private scan if you are able to!

congratulations🩷

Lul00 · 20/09/2024 19:20

So I would have tested 2 days after I thought my period had arrived. I had my implant removed in November and conceived December so I hadn't got my regular periods back. I had a private scan at 6 weeks - expecting the worst as I had bled quite a lot and they found 2 sacs xx

Happyapplehoney · 20/09/2024 20:25

Yes I hadn’t considered that! Gives me a tiny shred of hope. So far the only story I’ve found which is exactly the same as me (strong positive at 6dpo and digital test showing 2-3 weeks) sadly turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy- HCG levels were high because the implantation happened earlier as didn’t take the time travelling to the uterus. So that’s a big worry currently and I’m sure it’s going to be a long few weeks before I can get more clarity! Just have to hope for the best.

Thanks @LucyLou0527 Yes we will do if I don’t get a referral to the early pregnancy clinic . I can’t book a private one until 6 weeks anyway and the doctor said she would refer me at 5 weeks if still concerned so they can do a blood test first to check hcg and will then decide if I need a scan at 6 weeks … but if they don’t offer me a scan I’ll definitely be booking my own

@Happyapplehoney

How are you getting on did you repeat your pregnancy test? Smile

Happyapplehoney · 23/09/2024 13:22

Hello @Itonlytakesone … still testing daily and still getting strong positives. I did another digital today to see if the weeks had changed and it still says 2-3 weeks. Although my last digital was only Thursday so I guess it wouldn’t necessarily change. I have an occasional pulsing sensation in my left ovary but not sure if my head is just convinced it’s ectopic so I just keep feeling things that support that theory! Guess I have to be patient and just wait and see.

@Happyapplehoney
All still sounds promising for you. The days drag don't they especially when you want an answer. I hope you get a scan soon so you know when you'll get one? How many days are you now?

Itonlytakesone · 23/09/2024 20:42

I tested twice today 7dpo bfn but I don't feel like it is if you know what I mean

Could the bleeding last month have been a twin miscarriage? It would make sense why you are getting positive tests now. Digitals are not reliable with the weeks so possible that you are 6-7 weeks.

This happened to me. Quite heavy bleeding. It was am ivf pregnancy though and the clinic got me in for bloods and an early scan, so that is how I knew. We saw the wee sac coming apart.

Fingers crossed for you.

Itonlytakesone · 23/09/2024 21:08

@Snugglemonkey
Was that twins and there was two sacs to begin with?

I had wee bleeds up until around 12 weeks which scared me, but it was all grand. Once everything had come out or been absorbed, that all settled down and it was grand.

Itonlytakesone · 24/09/2024 10:34

@Happyapplehoney
I wonder what's going on with you and if it's this two sac scenario? I bet you're desperate for a scan. Will epu book you in for one soon?

TheShellBeach · 01/10/2024 13:55

How are you getting on @Happyapplehoney?

Nosejug · 04/04/2025 17:36

Hi @Happyapplehoney I'm scouring the internet for stories like mine, I had a positive test at 6dpo (not a strong one like yours, but digital test said 1-2 weeks) and the fertility doctor has said it might be ectopic. I am so scared and sad (also unexplained infertility, 3.6 years trying). I'm really hoping your outcome was positive, but my heart is sinking thinking for me its not likely.

EmmRach · 25/06/2025 06:44

Hi @Nosejug - I’m in this exact same boat at 7dpo. How did your situation turn out? Praying it worked out for you!!

Nosejug · 25/06/2025 07:26

Hi @EmmRach im sorry to say mine was ectopic (I think like the OP’s). It may have implanted early though I’m not sure that’s a possibility. The whole thing is a mystery, my progesterone was very very high, and my hcg high but not increasing the way it should. Actually, they never even found the pregnancy, I had a mass in my uterus that was breaking apart and two haemorrhagic areas that were my tube. I was waiting in a bed outside of surgery to get my tube removed but a bigger emergency came in, and due to the wait, my blood results came in before surgery and my hcg had started to decrease so I ended up on conservative management and I kept my tube. It took a couple of months. It was my second miscarriage, no children. I’m round the corner from an egg collection for ivf 🤞.

i really hope your pregnancy is just a happy mystery, I know some women did get early positives and went on to have their babies, fingers crossed that’s you too. My heart was guarded. I would suggest getting repeat bloods if your dr/epu will do it. Then you’ll know more.

EmmRach · 25/06/2025 08:12

Hi @Nosejug, oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear this. What a difficult and really frustrating situation. I have absolutely everything crossed for you for your IVF.

just want to say a big thanks for replying and for all the info. Really helpful, firstly I’m on my way to get a digital (how many weeks style test) so I have something non subjective in terms of HCG levels. And then will contact my GP to see if I can get a blood test. I fear that won’t be easy getting them to listen. Ha.

thanks again for your info. And all the best for your upcoming ivf

Nosejug · 25/06/2025 08:51

Aw thanks :)

I was heavily considering paying for bloods, but I had some light spotting one day that went away, then woke in the night with intense pain on one side. It did subside, and it wasn’t a rupture (and was possibly digestion) but that’s what got them to see me. I was able to contact EPU directly bc of previous mc. They actually didn’t expect anything to be wrong as my first bloods were so strong, but they plateaued on the second set. it’s totally not scientific as there’s so many variables, but I will say that my hcg strips weren’t clearly getting stronger either. And my digital didn’t increase from 1-2 to 2-3 when it should have (it took longer). But it was the pain that had them see me. I think the op in this thread said they could feel their ovary/side too. Lots of people will say not to test regularly, but it was part of my logical reasoning for working out what was going on!

I think you absolutely have good reason to hope you’re just experiencing an anomaly, but I’d be keeping a wee eye on tests, considering private bloods if the docs won’t see you and you need reassurance, and any one sided pain that doesn’t feel like normal pregnancy twinges.

I didn’t even consider ectopic, but the dr at the fertility clinic immediately said he was worried about ectopic when I told him about the early result.

all that being said, 7dpo isn’t 6 dpo, and if your digi test just says “pregnant” and not “1-2 weeks” it just sounds like early implantation !

Nosejug · 25/06/2025 08:52

@EmmRach sorry should have tagged you!
