mandy you're funny . You made me laugh after a VERY long day! I reckon you should wait til AFTER AF is due before you test (not that I managed this!)

HM2J - fab bump!!!! I'm extremely . And your boys are adorable...so very cute! So you're going to tell us the sex! WOW! Now I'm even more excited for you! Good Luck!

MJIM - Nice to hear from you. Hope work was OK this weekend. Can't believe you are 23 and a bit weeks! But you don't get any more scans now til baby comes to meet you do you?!?!? Glad your ds was a sweetie at the BBQ - I agree it must be very nice when they make you look good! And, i don't think it's crazy to do your birth plan! I'm thinking panicking about mine already!

I have had headaches 2 afternoons running now! Grrr...Have given up saying anything to anyone! And I have been having major fancy'ings for Mullerice! (yum yum!)

Heartmum2Jamie · 11/06/2008 17:03

Mandy, I am ROFL at your post. I can see why it would be tempting to do and get all those things, sod's law right?! You could also plan a nice expensive holiday somewhere far flung and exotic or plan a posh night out where you would have to get dressed up to the nines, chances are you would soon get caught when you don't want to. Oh and MJIM is not as strict as we make her out to be, she suggests waiting until after AF is due, but most of us crack before then, I know I did

CE, I feel for you with the headaches, I really suffered with them this time. Mind you, didn't start till 9 weeks, but didn't ease up at all until 14 1/2 weeks and I still get them now, just not constant like before. If you are anything like me, you won't like taking paracetomol, but sometimes it was nice to have a bit of relief, so I found some paracetomol & a bit of caffine (some coke or dr pepper) sometimes worked, and could be helped along by the big "O" with a bit of help from dh/dp or BOB (battery operated boyfriend) . Hmmm, may just shut up now!!

HumphreysCorner · 11/06/2008 17:47

Hi all

Lol at so many of your posts-especially Heartmum and her BOB. I have several My chart looks like this (BTW-last time the link didn't work-everybody saw their own chart and not mine)

So goodness knows which day FF will pick as OV day. Good luck for your scan and come and tell us immediately what you are having.

Mandy-if this isn't the month for you then hopefully the next one will be.

soosy-how are you today?

Where is BelgianBun? Hope you are OK.

ChocEclair-I suffered crippling headaches with both pregnancies so sympathise. Try and drink lots of water.

Waves to everyone else-feel tired after all the John Wayne sessions. That's it until next month, can't send any more men in.

soosy so sorry to hear your news.

MJIM not mad at all to think about what birth you want. I have never done a birth plan, but they asked me if I had one when I had DS, so I guess they do take notice of them round here.

CE sympathies with the headaches-I got loads with DS. They did pass though later on but not sure exactly when.

HM2J hope the scan goes well

HC fingers crossed for you

Mandy can see your point. Have to say when I conceived DD I had the most unhealthy lifestyle ever, but managed to get pregnant just as quickly with her as with DS-by which time I had lost all sense of a social life and led a very boring nights in, in front of the TV rather than clubbing in Ibiza type lifestyle. Not that I am advocating an unhealthy lifestyle, just that sometimes it does not seem to make much difference.

DS has given me back up big time. Got to stop picking him up so much but it is hard not too as he is only 20months.

majormoo · 11/06/2008 18:36

back ache not back up

ChocolateEclair · 11/06/2008 19:46

Right took your advice HM2J !!!!! (Although used DP rather than BOB!) and miraculously the headache has gone!!!!

I don't seem to have a taste for water at the moment but drinking gallons of milk!

ChocolateEclair · 11/06/2008 19:47

HC - I saw my own chart again!!!!!

HumphreysCorner · 11/06/2008 19:50

Euegh milk! Will have to try the BOB method should the need arise. Don't let DH near me for the 1st 12 weeks.

Lol at the topic of conversation this afternoon! BOB's indeed!!

HM2J - good luck with the scan tomorrow - I can't wait to find out what you are having so god only knows how you are feeling!! Your bump looks lovely (as do your boys) - that top is lovely aswell, where is it from?

Mandy - it will happen - just need to be patient which is not easy I know! My view is to just get on with your life - once you get pg, you have 9 months to go without all the good stuff like booze so enjoy it now while you can! As Majormoo said, probably won't make any difference anyway!

MJIM - glad you are feeling better! I think a birth plan is a good idea as you are getting nearer.

Hi to everyone else

DH away tonight and my mum and my nieces and nephew are coming round tomorrow after work for a couple of hours to play with DS so need to go and do a quick tidy-up, sort out my ironing for tomorrow, sort out the washing - all before the Apprentice starts in an hour

MJIM - I would like to see your birth plan - I didn't write one with DS and wouldn't even know how to go about it so it would be nice to see someone else's

My scan is 4 weeks on Friday (not that I am counting or anything) and yes, we are going to find out the flavour if we can. DH seems a bit uncomfortable about having a girl as he says he has never been around baby girls etc and just doesn't feel comfortable - so at least this way, if it is pink, it will give him time to get used to the idea.

Well done your DS on his speech - can he send some vibes to my DS?? His speech is pretty bad for his age although I am not overly worried. In fact, I read in a magazine over the weekend that an 'expert' reckons most babies, by the time they turn 2, will be able to string 5 words together Is it just me or does that seem a lot to expect from a 2-year old?? Anyway, me and DH keep joking that DS has got 4 weeks to do it - the furthest he has got is one 3-word sentence!! It is only in the last few weeks that he has put 2 words together so me thinks he is not going to manage 5 in the next 4 weeks.

Oops, sorry that turned into a bit of a essay - it is just the one thing with DS that does concern me a tad although in the back of my mind, I know he will get there in the end.

HM2J - GOOD LUCK!!!!! I will be rushing home after work tonight!!! Hope it all goes well, and thinking of you xx

MJIM - That sounds great! I think I might try to have quite a few of those elements such as the upright position and lack of intervention. It's the 'being strapped/cionfined ' to the bed that I really don't want. Very impressive!

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/06/2008 09:21

Great plan MJIM. I was very lucky last time in that I was already 7cm and the midwives were busy booking me in as I was in the wrong hospital, lol! We sat laughing and joking. In the space of 1.5 hours they monitored the babys heartrate about 3 times for about 2 minutes are so each and allowed to do pretty much what I wanted how I wanted until the last 20 minutes where they had me push properly, lol! That is what I want this time as I believe we just instinctively know what to do.

Ceebee, I wouldn't worry about your ds's speech. Ds2 could not really say more than a handful of words at 2. He got about a months worth of speech/play therapy from a sure start speech therapist and his speech came on pretty quickly. At his 3 1/2 year check his speech was flagged again, not because he can't talk sentences or anything, he has quite a large vocabulary, but his speech is "immature" and quite babyish, it still is. I know he is "speech delayed" and am not in the slightest bit worried. He is due to be re-checked next week and I know it is still a problem, but it is getting better without interevention, just slowly. He still says things like Tonna for Connor and yake instead of lake. It will come in it's own time. I refuse to allow them to give my child any more labels.

Opps, bit of a mini rant, sorry!

Anyway, I have forced down some brekkie even though I feel sick with nerves, lol! Thankfully I have my best friend coming around and then my Nan, Grandad & Mum as well, so they will keep me busy this morning! Scan is at 2.30, will let you all know how it went ASAP and certainly before I tell the rest of my family, lol!

HumphreysCorner · 12/06/2008 10:18

Heartmum-can't wait until you have your scan.

Yay, FF has confirmed OV on CD12 which is what I worked out.

MJIM-your birth plan is amazing. Well done with that. My first one was written by the midwife and was:

flexible
? waterbirth (never going to happen, she was pushing it)
Bottle feed
No students
DH's name and tel nos.

Second birth plan was written by me:

Attempt to BF colostrum then DH to five some feeds with SMA Gold. Am totally flexible and will go with whatever is necessary. Will have pethedine, gas and air and epidural if neccessary.

Of course, none of this was adhered to as with both births I had a student midwife both doing excellent work and had a student Dr sat watching me push DD2 out. Had a 25 hour labour with DD1 and she got stuck so had to have an epidural. Needed to be induced with DD2 as waters broken but no proper contractions. BF DD2 then we were out of there 4 hours after the birth. Was not going to stay in overnight like with DD1. So different after your 2nd birth. Don't know what I will write this time-probably 'whatever'! Oh, tried the birthing ball as well with DD2.

Am waffling now-have just made spag bol for tea and have to take DD2 for her 2 year checkup at 11am.

Waves to everyone, will be back later for Heartmum's news.

CE, thanks. Gallows humour, eh? Hope headaches have vanished & mullerice craving have been satisfied.

HM2J, all very good suggestions, including the big O as cure for many ailments. So excited to hear your news later.

HC: Well done you cowgirl. Fingers, toes & legs crossed now.

Majormoo, agree totally. A healthoer lifestyle is great (and becomes the only way as we all get older really) but I swear the obsession is counter productive - but what?s the alternative? Awww, DS is 20 months? Lovely age.

Thanks Ceebee ? very wise words. Enjoyed The Apprentice? (I did! My favourite won!)

MJIM ? many thanks for posting the plan ? so interesting. Never seen one before.

Waves to everyone. Hope you have a good day.
Back to work for me. x

I am back. One of my children is VERY upset and mummy is gloating because she was right all along. Baby was not shy, and I knew a good 5 minutes before we were asked if we wanted to know. I am well and truely going to be the queen in my house of BLUE!! Pics of my adorably cute, newest little man on my profile. Now for the tough part, naming him .

I have to say, judging by how upset ds1 is, I am soooo glad we know now and that he will have plenty of time to adjust to the idea of his brother so that he will actually be excited and happy the day 3 of 5 decides to arrive!

I am thrilled as he looks to be perfectly healthy. There was the tiniest moment of my heart sinking when I saw the goods while we were being shown the legs and feet, it lasted less than 3 seconds. I am really glad that I am ok with a 3rd son, I was terribly worried I would be upset. I am sure I will grieve the daughter I won't have at some point, but for now, I am exstatic

HumphreysCorner · 12/06/2008 16:13

wow! HM2J! Fab piccies! My guess was wrong aswell as your ds1!!! SO glad that all is well and you are happy . I have rushed home in anticipation!!!! I have been wondering about you all day long!

What does 3 of 5 mean??? Are you having 5 children???? Or do you just mean 3rd child of family of 5???? Sorry for being dim!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/06/2008 16:28

Hehehe!! We designated baby as 3 of a family of 5! Technically he should be 5 of 5, but we tend to put the kids first.
