If you insist although it may be TMI!! It is something that was mentioned on the AN thread about vaginal discharge - apparently if you have a lot, it is likely to be a girl and I have had quite a bit - I don't remember any with DS. But this might be an old wives tale too.

Morning all

Hope everyone is well and had nice weekends. Sorry my postings have been really erratic lately - lots of s*it going on at work (now applying to do some days from home) and think I find it easier to stay away in the 2ww and not think about it!

Anyway, sorry to say AF showed up today on CD27. SIGH! I thought this might have been our month, we did it practically every morning for 2 weeks solid! Does anyone think this might have been the problem? I thought you only had to do it every other day if your partner had low sperm count? Or not - is there actually more chance of conceiving, doing it every other day?

Just went out and bought DP some zinc tablets - "Zinc Ace". Has anyone else tried these? They were the only ones I could find with 100% RDA of zinc in them (also Vitamin A but that doesn't matter for blokes does it?).

Plus going back to hypnotherapist on Saturday as I keep stopping and starting on the smoking and I think it affects fertility. although just read that it takes 3 months to recover. And even then chances of anyone getting pregnant are 1 in 6 - I remember being shocked at CE's 1 in 4 stat, it seems to have gone up!! Any encouraging stories welcome.

Sorry for the dull and depressing post. Just gutted cos we made such an effort to do it every morning (heard morning was best for the swimmers) and sat there for 20 mins each time with my ar*e in the air and then did loads of pelvic floors afterwards (just wrote 'pelvic thrusts' - LOL)!! What a waste of time and effort. .

HumphreysCorner · 19/05/2008 14:46

Angel-good to hear from you. Sorry the witch showed up-how very disappointing for you. Did read somewhere that it is better to stick to the every other day to let resources build up. Good luck with giving up smoking. Have never smoked myself but I put giving it up on a par with giving up drinking wine-a nightmare!

Hi everyone!

I was looking at taking Evening Primrose Oil to balance my hormones (seem to go a bit mental before AF is due) and found this if it's of interest to those not already preggers!

Ohhh Ceebee, I only just heard the old wives take about having lots of cm meaning a girl. I definately don't remember it being like this with the boys. Not long got back from the midwife and baby's heartrate was way above 160 (even up to 185 at one point), so that is another tick for girl acording to old wives tales!

Good luck for testing on Friday Bellie. As for sea sickness stuff, I don't think there is anything you can take medication wise for motion sickness, but you can try seabands.

Angel, sorry to hear AF showed. I would try sticking with the every other day approach. It has never let me down. Try and have fun and don't try so hard, the additional stress you are putting on your own shoulders won't help (easier said than done I know). Also good luck with giving up smoking, no advice here as never smoked either.

HumphreysCorner · 19/05/2008 16:10

Was looking at other charts on FF and there was one who was PG with a boy and did the deed every day apart from round OV time so

Better go.

hi ladies

Sun is shining so I am in a fab mood! I have mowed the lawn after work, and we are having dinner with my parents later (roast chicken yummy!)

Angel - REALLY sorry AF showed, the evil witch! . I have done lots of research into the every day versus every other day thing, and it would seem to be inconclusive! Some stuff does say only need to do every other day if DH has problems with low sperm count. Other stuff says do it as often as possible in fertile days, more than once per day if poss! LOL

I do agree that stressing out only makes things worse, but I am a total hypocrite in this department as I took my bat home so badly last month!LOL!

Anyway, your month may well be next month so don't worry! We are all here for you to drive mad in the meantime!

HM2J - is it fab hearing the baby's heartbeat every time? I bet you never tire of hearing it!

Hope all you ladies are well!

juanitad · 19/05/2008 17:41

Oh Angel, that AF turned up. I'm sure there's nothing scientific about every day or every other day, but I tried every day - didn't work, so then tried every 2 or 3 days and it worked!! So might be worth a go next cycle, just to see....

Hope everyone else is well. Just wanted to let you all know that on Wednesday I am taking a school trip to Spain until Monday, so if I'm not around for a few days that's why! Not sure if I'll get chance to post tomorrow night as I'll be running around like a mad thing trying to make sure everything is ready!!

Hope there is some good news when I get back and that we have another graduate!!

Angel2008 · 19/05/2008 18:39

Hi guys

Thanks so much for your replies

Juanitad, have a great time in Spain, eat lots of tapas for me!

CE - thanks, and I hope you at least graduate this month! When are you testing??

HC and HM2J - I think I will try the every other night approach (means we get a lie in every other day at least)

Lots of love to everyone else xxx

Angel2008 · 19/05/2008 18:41

PS - sorry, I should have said every other MORNING approach. Wish me luck!

PPS - if I get to work from home 2 days a week I should be able to log on more (until my 2ww when I will no dount shirk off as usual)!

Must go I can smell my dinner burning!!

xxx

majormoo · 19/05/2008 18:52

angel shame this wasn't your month. I have tried everyday and every other day and I have to say has not made a difference in how quickly I got pregnant.

BB sorry to hear you are feeling down and hope the reaction you had calms down.

Ceebee-tell me about cricket-DH used to play it loads when we first went out together-sooooo boring. Are you excited about Champions league. It is my FIL's birthday Wednesday so we have all the family over so I really hope they win.

Juanitad-enjoy Spain although it is work.

CE/Bellie/HC-hope this is your month

Willmouse-hope the washing machine has not exploded again

MJIM/HM2J hope the pregnancies are going OK.

I had a lovely weekend with my friends. Went out for a fab tapas meal. Went to a bar afterwards but I was shattered. Seemed to take forever to get my two drunkest friends away from the cava and into a cab home! Ceebee you are right I did miss the drinking-not the same having a Blueberry/Strawberry juice while everyone else is having Bellini's, but I did not envy the hang overs the next morning. Also had a really great day yesterday celebrating my sister's wedding anniversary.

Had a dating scan this afternoon which I was dreading but all seems OK so far. It put me at 11wks 2 days with a due date of 6th December

Bellie · 19/05/2008 19:25

Hello all

Angel - sorry to hear of the witch and for you. Not sure what approach works best - we are having to go with whenever dh is at home approach!! Again if not pg this time he will be away most of the crucial period again He just can't seem to count to 30 and then start again!!

Majormoo - not quite a Christmas baby ! So pleased that everything was ok for you today.

Saw all my preg friends today and came away feeling sad as still not my time, but fingers crossed for Friday!!

Ceebee - bet you have booked your place in front of the tv already havn't you?? It is surprising how many Chelsea fans I have suddenly come across who I had no idea that they even liked football

Anyway off to cook tea xx

ceebee74 · 19/05/2008 19:31

Angel - so so sorry AF arrived - these first few days afterwards are the hardest I think as the disappointment is crushing - but I am sure you will soon pick up and get back into the swing of things! Have to say we went for the every other day approach and it worked.

Juanitad - a trip to Spain - you lucky lucky thing (although I guess if you are a Spanish teacher, you get those quite a lot ) - enjoy!!

Majormoo - glad you had a good weekend despite not drinking! Fab news about your scan Of course I am looking forward to the football on Wednesday although I feel the anticipation is better as there is still the possibility that we will win a trophy this year - whereas, the reality might be different (if that makes sense!) Btw, just found out BBC have moved the Apprentice to tomorrow night to avoid clashing with the footy so don't forget!

HM2J - ooh interesting about your cm too - I guess only time will tell if the old wives tale is true!

Eventually got round to see my friend with the newborn baby today (3rd time lucky!) - she is so cute and little (and light!) I forgot how small they are - she is 11 days old. She slept, fed, slept, filled her nappy on my lap and carried on sleeping - my friend says she is probably asleep 21 hours out of every 24

ceebee74 · 19/05/2008 20:00

Majormoo - please ignore what I have just said about the Apprentice - turns out it is next week they are moving it to Tuesday because England are playing on Wednesday night! I assumed that it meant this week as they were worried about viewing figures as surely the whole world will be watching Chelsea win

Heartmum2Jamie · 19/05/2008 20:51

Majormoo, sounds like a fab weekend, although like you say, it's not the same when you can't have a tipple. Absolutely fantastic news about your dating scan though, I am over the moon for you!

Ceebee, I am still lol about you thinknig cm is interesting even though I know how you meant it. Awww to your friends baby. I think you do forget how small, light and sleepy they are, lol!

I was having a panic about our infant carseat, so got it down out of the loft (I very cleverly piled everything I would need for baby around the door, so I didn't actually have to go in the loft). I forgot how sweaty ds2 used to be before his surgery and then combined with his eczema, where we used to cream everywhere, including his head as he was bald, it has left some nasty staining on the covers. I have them running through the wash as I type, so I can se if they will come clean with a bit of washing/sunning on the line, or if they are beyond repair. It's amazing the things you suddenlt think of

HumphreysCorner · 20/05/2008 11:49

majormoo-11 weeks and 2 days. So pleased all is well.

have dreadful heartburn which I only get when PG and an annoying headache. There, said it. Said to DH that if these are phantom PG symptons I don't think I can live with them until I actually get a BFP.

Lovely day, have cut the rest of the grass (did some yesterday).

Waves to everyone.

Heartmum2Jamie · 20/05/2008 13:08

Ohhh HC, that does sound promising! Like I said before, I just KNEW I was pregnant with ds2 a good week before I could even test, lol!

I am not having a brilliant day. I am still marvelling at how completely rubbish maternity care is most of the time. I have seen enough examples of it on the antenatal thread. It's happening to me too. I called the fetal medicine centre at Brum today to see if they recieved my referal from more than 3 weeks ago. Nope, no referal, so no appt for fetal echo which should be done at 20 weeks (am 17 weeks tomorrow). Now I have to go chasing after consultants, referals and try and get an appt quickly so I can arrange childcare and someone to come with me to hold my hand as there is no way dh will be able to come with me now. If I had the money for private care, I would totally do it, it has to be better than this rubbish!

ChocolateEclair · 20/05/2008 16:48

Ceebee ? so 2 signs that it?s a pink one then!?!? That?s fab!

Juanitad- have a fab trip to Spain. Hope the kids are well behaved! I bet you will be coming home for a rest!

Majormoo ? 11 weeks 2 days! That?s amazing! Was 6th December about when you thought? Hope you are keeping well!

Bellie ? you must be getting excited now! Sorry to hear you were feeling down when you saw your pg friends.

HM2J ? hope the car seat came clean! And sorry about the NHS being rubbish! How much would it cost to go private? (I ask because I am seriously considering it, depending on cost, due to my total hospital phobia. I?m thinking private might be able to talk to me more and reassure me). Hope you get the echo thingy booked in soon xx

HC ? is it possible to feel pg yet? It would be brilliant if you have managed it first month!

I have had a nice day, sports day today, and quite sunny. I have no symptoms at all, but not sure I would know if I had! I don?t really get premenstrual or any of that, so I guess that could be a sign for me if I do! Today is CD26 of 33. I can test a week tomorrow if no AF!

Hope everyone else is ok ? Angel, BB, Soosy, Willmouse and MJIM xx

HumphreysCorner · 20/05/2008 17:05

ChocEclair-am only CD 19 so although I have lots of symptoms I know it is not going to happen straight away. Although I did feel different after conceiving DD2 but didn't realise until I got a BFP at CD 25 that they were PG symptons. It passes the time away on the 2ww dreaming that I could be Nancy PG. AF isn't due until 30th May although FF has AF due 24th going by OV day being on CD12. It has test day marked at the 27th May which is 3 days before my normal AF is due. Soooo complicated. Will start testing this weekend as I can't stop myself and it helps me to expect AF when I get BFN's-lessens the disappointment IYKWIM. Good look to you and any other imminent testers. Hope when I do get a BFP I won't be the only one.

Evening all

MJIM - welcome back. Glad you had a lovely weekend and you are all well

HC - how exciting - this 2ww is going to be agonising for you but fingers crossed!

HM2J - about the NHS. I have been horrified by some of the stories on the ante-natal thread and it certainly puts my issues with them into perspective! I really hope you get it sorted.

Ho to everyone else

Went to see the consultant today - except I ended up seeing a registrar as the consultant was 'too busy' - and I still had to wait an hour fgs! Anyway, the upshot of the conversation was that there is absolutely no reason why I should need another c-section so it is a VBAC for me. Have to say I am still not sure about it and thought I would have a choice but apparently not! The only comfort was that she said they would stop labour much earlier this time round if things weren't progressing which is a relief as it was 24 hours with DS and absolute torture! Anyway, I guess I have got 6 months to get my head round this.

This time tomorrow I will be a bag of nerves with the football - all think positive thoughts about Chelsea and bad, negative thoughts about Man United

x

Heartmum2Jamie · 20/05/2008 20:20

Welcome back mjim!! Sounds like a good weekend/trip.

Ceebee, wow at the VBAC, although Grrrr at the registrar and the hour wait. Snap, that's what I had. I am sure by the time it is time, you will know in your head & heart what you want and be comfortable with the choice.

As for me, it has been an interesting afternoon to say the least. I spent it playing phone tag between hospitals and consultants. As un update to my terrible OB appt 3 weeks ago, a HUGE cock up has been made and no referal has been made to the fetal medical centre for this baby's fetal echo. I could cry. Thankfully the OB's consultant is a wonderful woman, couldn't stop apologising and told me that she will get the OB to dicate the letter tomorrow and that she will type it up ASAP and FAX it across, so I should be able to call up either Friday or early next week and get my appt. I really should be angry, it's the same story over and over again. DS2 slipped under the radar and nearly died as a result. If I didn't keep pushing and chasing, I would never get the care either of us deserve. Thankfully for the OB, I am too tired to be angry enough to complain and thankully, her secretary more than makes up for the fact that the registar I saw (who was a locum no less) was a pile of *t! Oh, and to top off my day, I spoke with ds2's dieitician and was told in no uncertain terms that I must stay away from peanut butter and all peanut products all the while I am pregnant and breastfeeding. Sigh! It's going to be a long 2/3 years then, lol! Typical, nothing else sounds good, except for a peanut butter sandwich!

Oh, the good news is that for those who wish to breastfeed, the new breastfed baby charts should be out by October. Yay! No more tracking my baby's weight on a chart designed for a formula fed baby

HumphreysCorner · 20/05/2008 21:24

Heartmum-you really shouldn't have this sort of stress when PG-gggrrrhhh on your behalf! Good news on the BF charts as DD2 was always off the bottom of the charts. BTW-didn't you get PG first month of TTC this time? If I couldn't eat peanuts I would die-lived on Snickers and nuts through both pregnancies.

ceebee-VBAC has got to be good news. Instant recovery.

Love to all. Am coming down with a rotten cold with a sore throat. Daren't take anything just incase.

Hello, my you have been busy since Thurs! Sorry I have been away, but have been house hunting and DS has been ill again. He gets these v high temps and starts vomiting and doesn't stop until his temperature comes down, quite difficult if he can't keep the neurofen down, so we are going to the doctor to see if we can get some suppositories (or bottom medicine as DS calls it) as He had a febrile convulsion last summer and I don't want him to have another.

Anyway BB what is Pre-seed I have never heard of this but is it something I should try before my FET?

HM2J sorry you are having such a hard time with the NHS, I blame all the bureaucrats who have been employed. The IVF clinic has about 20 staff but two business managers, and get this: the nurses can no longer make scan appointments, they have to fill in a slip with the dates on and then you have to take the slip to reception where some incompetent female has to give you an appointment, as a consequence there is no flexibility and it takes about 20 mins to do argghh.

Willmouse, it will all work out in the end, so don't panic about it all.

Bellie, fingers crossed for you , any more news from your clinic.

Anyway have had first scan all ok so far, back on Friday. they will not let me go to Wales as they say i have to be back on BH monday. If my follicle has grown to about 15mm by fri I may be able to go as I will be on OPK's , but otherwise I will be at home for half term.

Lots of love to the rest of you.

Sx
