Hi everyone! I’ve been reading mumsnet for sooo long and it has kept me going with this journey of trying to conceive! We’ve been trying for 7 years now and had one ectopic 6 years back. We went to see a specialist last August and was told I have Polycystic ovaries on my left side so we were going through the IVF journey where I was put on metformin for 6 months but then I got pneumonia on Boxing Day😢 and so wasn’t back to my normal self until February time. Since then I’ve had other problems so haven’t been back to see the specialist so it’s been quite a stressful year! So this is our first cycle of ttc within a year before we get our appointment to see the specialist again. I was in two minds and thought I’ll just wait and see the specialist but then I thought why not try again! I see so many people out there who conceive with PCO so why not 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m currently 4dpo and so the ttw is hard! Anyone else out there currently 4dpo?

@Lauren906 hi I'm currently 6dpo first time in tww as I took a back burner for a couple months. I've been ttc for 2 years also had a ectopic last January and have pcos which I'm currently on metformin for. Waiting for the fertility specialist and got scans ect coming up. I do have a 3 year old so there is hope he took four years of trying for our little miracle I call him now haha. But I agree trying now untill appointments, what's there to lose? I know it's a hard journey even more so, it's been such a long time for you!

Ps ttw crazies has kicked in 🤣🤣🤣

Lauren906 · 06/08/2024 11:14

@Jadeypie Hi! How are you dealing with the metformin? I had to go down to one a day at first🙈 then eventually went up to two a day. I was supposed to go back in Feb to see the specialist but it’s just been crazy lately! It’s such a long process isn’t it but hopefully we will get there!

aww that’s lovely on your 3 year old! And exactly, just so hard to not symptom spot- I mean I’m only 4dpo but this time round I’m trying to not symptom spot and just try and relax a bit. But we just can’t help it can we😅

@Lauren906 tbh I feel like they have really worked for me. I'm up to three times a day now started at one my gynaecologist said to take three times a day for it too work and he's right I've been regularly ovulating now for a few months and my cycles have sorted regulated I was all over the show last year!

Yeh life does get in the way doesn't it and then the waiting times for appointments seem forever! That's why I took a little break.

Haha syntom spotting is the devil I swear 🤣🤣 but yeh we crnt help it it's like it takes over for two solid weeks then af turns up and we relax x

Lauren906 · 06/08/2024 12:43

Oh really! That’s good then! I use to take one at tea time because when at work I would just feel awful and going to the toilet 😅 so I didn’t dare take it in morning then eventually I went to two which was okay but it has sorted my cycles out! I use to vary like sometimes 34 days then it would be 36 then 28 it was just all over the spot but now looking on my app It’s spot on. How long have you got left on them?

And yes definitely sometimes you need to take a break to keep you from not going insane 😅 I think for us with it being our 7th year of trying it was taking a toll on my mental health and specially cause I work in childcare too it was hard seeing babies and seeing new mums announce their pregnancy but at the same time it was lovely and watching them go through this journey. I’ve just got to keep telling myself that it will happen! Just got to enjoy the journey and not stress! 😅 xx

OP posts:
Jadeypie · 06/08/2024 12:52

@Lauren906 oh the toilet is no joke 🙈🤣 I'm sort of just ust to it now I've been taking them since January I feel like it's just part of my daily routine haha. I have no clue how long I'm on them for I'm assuming long term for now.

My cycles was the same then dropped to 20 I was convinced I was going through the menopause early (I'm 32) Dr assured me I'm not tho ha. Have you had any test to see why it's took so long? It's so disheartening when you feel like your trying so hard and people around you just sneeze and it happens!! You sound like your in the right mind set anyway

Do you track and stuff? I have a love hate relationship with tracking xx

Lauren906 · 06/08/2024 13:43

You’d think your body would be use to them after a while😅 he only prescribed me for 6 months so was supposed to go back in February but with having the pneumonia at Christmas it totally set me back and so I didn’t feel my body was in the right place to start IVF. But I’ve heard nothing since so trying to get an appointment to see him again. So I’m currently not on any medication so I’m not sure if I’ll have to go on anything again before I start 🤷🏻‍♀️

Oohh I know, I’m always having hot flushes and waking up in the night roasting😅 but I’m 28 next month.

I never use to track I use to just go with the flow but then as the years went on I started tracking. I have the glow app, so when it would say my day of ovulation I’d test before hand but then it would still show positive like a week later so I never knew when I was ovulating. It’s just hard so I’m just trying to go from what my body tells me too you know what I mean?

Do you know when you’re seeing the specialist? Xx

Jadeypie · 06/08/2024 14:30

Oh sorry to hear about the pneumonia!! No wonder you took the break your body would of needed it!

Is that what's next for you ivf? I'm not allowed it because I've got a child I feel like my body's just not been in the right place. I've been on a massive health kick lately tho and taking vitimins ect so I'm hoping I should get some luck soon.

I'm still waiting for the fertility specialist appointment but I've had my endocrinologist and gynaecologist involved and I have a hycosy (I think that's what it is) at the end of the month to check my tubes. Oh and had all the usual bloods done.

I get horrendouse ovulation pains so I've been going by that lately. I did use opk but some months I wouldn't ovulate and they would stress me out but I did learn from them my lutheal fase is short so I'm thinking is that's what's going wrong for me oh dunno suppose time will tell xx

Jadeypie · 06/08/2024 14:32

@Lauren906 also wouldn't your gp not be able to prescribe the metformin again for you untill your appointment comes through with the specialist? Just feels like we go through all the departments to get to the one place we need to be xx

Lauren906 · 06/08/2024 16:25

I know my friend is going through the same and she can’t because her partner has a child to a previous marriage, it’s so hard being in that situation and I think it’s wrong because our bodies change over time you know what I mean. That’s good you’re getting all that done! You’ll feel loads better once all that is done and you’ve got more answers. I had my tubes flushed and all the other tests done last year, my specialist said IVF is the best outcome for me so it’s just the waiting game now!

Ohh do you! I always get pain on my left side like few weeks before I’m due (which is my pco side). I know what you mean, I was always thinking am I even doing these test right😅

And I’ve got an appointment with my gp next month (I asked for the same doctor who got me in the doorway of sorting it all out) so I’ll ask then about the metformin. Surely they’ll be able to🤞

OP posts:
Jadeypie · 06/08/2024 16:33

Oh our bodies definitely change as we get older that's for sure! That's so unfair for your friend the rules suck!!

Oh I'm just eager to have some answers feel like I'm half way there with the pcos diagnosis. Mines bad on my left side radiates down my leg and everything I get it on my right now and again so this my left ovary is the dominant one. The crap us women go through haha.

Oh good give it a mention and see hopefully they will I crnt see why not and keep me updated with your tww keeping my fingers crossed for you x x

Lauren906 · 06/08/2024 17:46

Oohh really sounds painful! And I know definitely. Once you’ve got all the answers then it’ll be another step forward. And you too, let’s hope this month is our month🤞 xx

Hi @Jadeypie how are you doing?

I’m 8dpo and I stupidly did a test as I was so eager but I’m going away today for a few days so I will not be testing until my period is due!😅 got no symptoms really just got tingly nipples! 6dpo I had like a pulsating pain on my bottom left like near my pelvic bone and nothing since! Honestly I think a few days away is going to help take my mind of the ttw😅 xx

OP posts:
Jadeypie · 10/08/2024 11:08

Lauren906 · 10/08/2024 12:45
