Help…. Is this my BFP or from my MC

Hi ladies. Help needed!

I had a MC at 5 weeks on the 9th July. Obviously I was devestated and I didn’t continue testing as i couldn’t face seeing the line fade.

if my cycle returns to normal I would expect my period early part of next week. Woke up this morning with sore boobs, which I didn’t have my previous pregnancy but do get sometimes with my period.

just for sh!ts and giggles I decided to do a test this morning. This is with smu….

I was gobsmacked when this came up straight away!!!!!

so the question is…. Is this a bfp or could it still be from my mc….

Morning lovely, were you tracking ovulations this month? I had a MC last month at 5 weeks too and I did test afterward and it came up stark white. So I'm thinking this could be a BFP as it is a month later 🤞🏼 How many DPO are you? X

DoraBella88 · 03/08/2024 09:55

Thank you for replying to me.

I didn’t track my ovulation but I did have ewcm 19/07 but didn’t Date until 22/07 onwards.

this test is alot darker than the first faint positives I was getting last time. I am assuming my test would have been negative quite quickly due to it being an early mc. I just couldn’t face seeing them as it was my first positive tests after over 10yrs ttc

I just don’t know what to think….

I completely understand, it was awful to go through 🤍 I do agree, mine was negative quickly as like you say, it was early. This definitely sounds positive. Maybe call your GP/EPU? What would you be in weeks? Keeping my fingers crossed for you but this sounds positive 🤞🏼

Figtree11 · 03/08/2024 10:03

@DoraBella88 I was testing positive on pregnancy tests for 5 weeks following a MC last year. Does seem quite early to get a BFP just over 3 weeks post MC so I’d perhaps speak to the EPU, they may do a blood test to check your levels

How many weeks were you when you MC? If you don’t mind me asking?

I think I’ll wait a few days and see what happens? It does seem early however ewcm on the 19th could be a sign I ovulated?

I did a CB the day after I MC and it was quite faint but obviously a different test

I was 8 weeks - I think it can differ so much with how quickly people’s hcg levels go down. Yeah perhaps give it another week & see. The EPU told me to test after 3 weeks & if still positive to ring them. I did & they then told me to wait another week, and then I went in for a blood test to check my levels were going down ok. Hope all works out ok x

DoraBella88 · 03/08/2024 13:02

I honestly wasn’t expecting it to be positive. I think I will see what happens over the weekend then call the GP on Monday…. I just would of expected my tests to be negative now due to losing the baby so early

@DoraBella88 hi OP I could have written this myself. I had a MC on 2nd July at 5.5 weeks and I tested positive again last Tuesday with no period in between. However I know I ovulated on 19th July because I use Mira which tracks 3 hormones so it must be a new pregnancy, it can happen!
When I MC last Month it only took a week to get negative tests probably because it was early. This time round I have no symptoms at all apart from lots of bloating and I’m 15dpo. Last time with MC I had extremely sore bbs from 5dp which disappeared at 4.5 weeks and then I started bleeding a week later. I’ve added my test from Wed (12dpo). Keep me updated and fingers crossed for this one for both of us 🤞

@T0r11210 wow congratulations!!!!!! That’s amazing news for you! It’s also good to know that you were testing negative a week after the miscarriage. That’s what I would assume for me as it was early and my test the day of miscarriage was so faint. This line is darker and with smu. Although a different brand test.
have you done a digital?

fingers crossed for you

Thank you and yes I would guess the same for you. I went into A&E with severe pain 3 days before I started bleeding as they were concerned it was ectopic and my HCG was 1200, the day I started bleeding it was already down to 200 so can decrease fast.
i did a weeks indicator I already had the same day and it was 12dpo. Also I’ve always found smu better because fmu is hormones from previous day x

DoraBella88 · 03/08/2024 16:44

Wow that is fast. I’ve just done a clear blue blue dye…. The first pic was within 30 seconds and I’ve not held etc. 2nd pic at 3mins….

It does sound like a new pregnancy @DoraBella88 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, like @T0r11210 I tested negative a week later too so it is possible. Keep us updated 🤍🤞🏼 I have skipped this cycle as still feeling fragile so great to hear some hopeful stories xx

I completely understand how you feel. I had a suspected early miscarriage many years ago and the thought of trying again then was so difficult. Sending you hugs and baby dust

So guess who woke up at 4.30 this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep 🙋🏻‍♀️😂

so what else could I do, other than test…..

It is hard to tell. I had an early mc a couple of months ago and it took a full month for my levels to return to normal, I was getting them checked once per week. You need to have your HCG levels tested and then retested to see if they are going up. I don't think an at home PG test can really tell you anything at this point. I hope it is a healthy pregnancy!

DoraBella88 · 04/08/2024 04:48

Thank you. I agree. I need to speak with my GP as I’m non the wiser right now.

OP posts:
UpUpUpU · 04/08/2024 04:56

Tentative congratulations OP! At 5 weeks you are barely pregnant so would have turned negative pretty quickly. I would say this is a new pregnancy. I hope everything works out for you x

DoraBella88 · 04/08/2024 05:01

Thank you. That’s my thoughts too. My MC seemed complete as my only symptom vanished immediately and my bleeding seemed as I’d expect. The only test I did after was much fainter than these ones too.

I will need to speak to my GP on Monday 😳

honestly I’m so confused / shocked! OH is snoring his head off non the wiser whilst I’m snuggling with one of my cats 😂

OP posts:
Niiina · 04/08/2024 07:44

@DoraBella88 oh yay! Your weeks indicator is great and seems bang on for a new pregnancy 🤞🏼 Won't be long and you can see the EPU to get some answers!

Thank you, lovely! Its my second MC this year, both at 5 weeks so I'm feeling a little bit all over the shop at the mo xx

DoraBella88 · 04/08/2024 07:51

I’m so sorry it’s your second loss this year. Fingers are tightly crossed for you.

im honestly so confused. My OH thinks it’s a new pregnancy but we will have to wait and see. I feel in limbo. I never got past 1-2 weeks last month so I really do feel it’s a new pregnancy. But don’t want to get my hopes up

OP posts:
Niiina · 04/08/2024 08:25

Thank you lovely 🤍 I agree, I wouldn't want to get my hopes up either. But it wouldn't make sense your levels being the exact same a full month later... they would have dropped I'd imagine?

Like me and a few other women who have also MC at 5 weeks have said, our tests were negative quite quickly. So 🤞🏼 for you. Hopefully you can be seen tomorrow and you'll know.

How are you feeling @DoraBella88?

DoraBella88 · 04/08/2024 08:34

@Niiina thank you so much. That’s actually a very valid point, it would be odd for them to be the exact same levels a month later. I think I’m going to contact the EPU today and see what they say. I’m thinking the worst they can say is to contact my GP tomorrow so no harm in calling them today.

im ok thank you. Just in a state of shock and feeling in limbo 🙈

OP posts:
Niiina · 04/08/2024 09:11

Yeah I would call them today as well because you've not long had a MC but now potentially pregnant again so it would be good to check levels anyway @DoraBella88 🤞🏼🤍

When did your MC bleed stop? Could have been an early ovulation 🤞🏼🤞🏼 Did you see EPU at the time of MC? X
