Positive opk twice in a month?!

Okay so, I ovulated (had all the symptoms and positive opk) cycle day 13. Kept checking on opks for a couple days after which were negative, then went on a couple of days away with husband so no testing.

Jump to today, I've decided to do another opk when I got home to check it was staying down and I've just got a blazing positive opk. I'm so confused 😭

Any insights?

What CD are you today?

Could you be pregnant??

dbeuowlxb173939 · 25/07/2024 18:12

Pregnant? They do cross react with HCG! Take an early pregnancy test

ThatGreenPlayer · 25/07/2024 18:37

I'm only 6/7dpo (dependent upon when I actually ovulated as I didn't temp as well)

Sometimes your body gears up to ovulate and it just doesn’t manage it for whatever reason so it attempts again later on in your cycle. There is only one way to know for certain that you ovulated and that is to have tracked your BBT

The other possibility is that sometimes opk’s do get stronger when you are pregnant but this isn’t reliable way to know! If you did ovulate and are 6/7dpo it’s not likely that it’s picking up pregnancy

Correct, it's actually reasonably common that the body prepares to ovulate (rise seen in LH strips) but then fails and can reattempt it again which might be what you are seeing, OP. Ovulation can only be truly confirmed by BBT or blood test.

I'd also recommend using the same brand of LH tests for consistency. Good luck!

I would say you’re going to be ovulating today or tomorrow

ThatGreenPlayer · 26/07/2024 16:28

I did have EWCM, high libido etc prior to cd13 but not now. Do you think this makes a difference?

Possibly.
Maybe you failed to ovulate then and you’re trying again now. Keep us updated what tests say tonight / tomorrow

Jolene89 · 26/07/2024 18:32

I was gonna say a mix of what others said. Pregnant or your body tried to ovulate and didn’t so tried again. Remember the LH surge only predicts ovulation but doesn’t confirm it’s happened.

This is one I just took about 3 minutes ago, doesn't seem to be going lighter yet. Apologies, this is my first time doing opks!

This is very dark. Infact it almost looks darker than control line. This has either got to be ovulation or pregnancy

If this was ovulation would I expect the lh surge to go down again, and if so, when?

I’d say you’d expert ovulate tonight or tomorrow looking at that test. So it should start to go down soon. You can’t tell because peak can come and go so quickly within hours. Keep testing tonight and DTD

As pp have said it could be your body failed to ovulate cd13 and is now ovulating, or you could be pregnant, only way to know for sure is try pregnancy tests along side the opks and see what happens

These are so dark!!

what are they saying tonight?

ThatGreenPlayer · 27/07/2024 20:29

They are the same tonight really. Unsure when to take a pregnancy test now, following first suspected ovulation or this one..

If they're the same I'd take a pregnancy test now to rule that out. Same happened to me and I was pregnant

Elliesmumma · 27/07/2024 20:59

Hope you BD’ed again last night for good measure as you could only be ovulating now…

ThatGreenPlayer · 28/07/2024 09:04

It's looking a little lighter this morning, so thank goodness we treated it like ovulation. Roll on tww.
