TTC over 35

Dreamingofthree · 09/07/2024 22:02

I just turned 35, I’m ttc my third.

we struggled with our first, long irregular cycles (stress really hits my cycle) and dh had variable sperm parameters.

deep down concerned it might not happen for us.

anyone else ttc 35 or over?

Im 37 and in the fence about a third. I did however pay for a private fertility assessment for reassurance and all seemed fine.

How old are you current two children?

See I’m worried about knocking on that door because I did it with my first when we got to the 6 month ttc and was told we’d never conceive without icsi, but looking back that clinic was trying to sell us ivf.

my kids are 5 and 2.5

Do you use ovulation strips? I used those with a premom app to conceive my second. Could be worth a try while ttc and understand your cycle a bit more.

Yeah I use them and cm to know when I’m ovulating, so I start testing with opks when I get ewcm. Then I temp after but normally for me positive opk means af is 14 days later

Hi! I'm 39 and trying for a 4th. Started trying around July last year. Had a CP last month but nothing apart from that one. My LP was really short though as I am still breastfeeding my 2 year old but it slowly sorted itself out at the start of the year. I'm so surprised that we have struggled so much. Very frustrating isn't it. Hope you get some luck soon 🤞🏼

Donnamaria1 · 10/07/2024 12:13

Hey!
I'm currently TTC for about 6 months now. I'm 37 next month so I'm so stressed as I'm tracking my ovulation and even had blood tests done to check my levels. All seems normal but it's just not happening.
I'm loosing hope just now with every month passing. Xxxx

BabyBorn · 10/07/2024 12:25

Hi @Donnamaria1 I also had blood tests in March to which everything seemed normal. My husband hasn't had a sperm test though. Might see if he wants to do this if nothing happens soon. I'm 11 DPO today and testing Negative 😩

TennisLady · 10/07/2024 12:34

I've just turned 38 and been TTC for my first for a year now. I'm tracking cycles/ovulation and all seems OK but not happening. Need to arrange to go back to GP (they said in this area despite being over 35 I still have to wait a year).

Donnamaria1 · 10/07/2024 12:36

@BabyBorn

I asked my partner but he said he's not comfortable doing it 🤦🏼‍♀️
Why are men so modest sometimes.
I just don't think they understand at our level.
I don't even know when I ovulated at this stage. I started using the clear blue digital tests to try get a more accurate reading other than the strips. I told one one Sunday and it was negative and I took one on Monday morning and it was positive then Monday night it was negative again so I don't even know when the ovulations happened. Wa sit after the positive or during it.
It's so stressful when months are passing and nothings happening 😭 xxxxx

That's shocking isn't it 🥺
They said to me I need to wait up to 18months of trying before I go back 🤦🏼‍♀️. Xxxxx

My Apple Watch takes my temp overnight for me and I get the clear temp shift each month, around the time just after positive OPKs, and usually EWCM. I also occasionally get wonderful ovulation symptoms like this cycle, with (TMI) loose bowels and nausea.

Donnamaria1 · 10/07/2024 13:34

I don't track my body temp as I'm always so warm just now even through the night I need fans on every night.
Summer is no good for me to track temp.
Do you ovulate after the positive test or is it whilst it's positive ?
Xxxxx

Hi, can I join please ☺️ I’m 35 and TTC #2. Our DS is just coming up to 3, and this is our second month TTC. First took 8 months, but I had verrry irregular cycles and a short LP after coming off the pill. I didn’t go back on hormonal contraception this time so my cycles are a normal 30 days, although I don’t ovulate until CD18. So I’m hoping the regular cycles will mean it won’t take as long as time. I don’t know if I’m being naive, but so far I haven’t really factored my age in, in regards to it maybe taking a bit longer with no longer being the ‘optimum’ age to TTC!

DaisyEM · 10/07/2024 14:38

P.s I realise I’m probably being optimistic because we are only on month two 😅

ByJollyZebra · 10/07/2024 14:51

Hi everyone, can I join please? I'm 35 and trying for baby #3. All feels very new and scary because my oldest is 10!

Donnamaria1 · 10/07/2024 15:01

@ByJollyZebra @DaisyEM

Let's all be stressed together 😂
My oldest is almost 18!
I'm 37 almost. I've been TTC for over 6 months now and every month I'm more deflated xxxxx

@Dreamingofthree is correct and it's between 12-48 hrs after a positive Ovulation test.

Luckily for me I feel my ovulation so know exactly when the egg is getting released 🥴

I've got 3 girls, 19,12 and 2! Can imagine all the hormones in our house!! 😆😆

DaisyEM · 10/07/2024 16:51

@Dreamingofthree ahh nice to have a buddy in the same situation! What CD are you on? I'm CD14 and usually ovulate on CD18. It's DS's 3rd birthday this weekend, and we have family staying, so DTD might be a bit tricky 😂but I'm aiming for Thursday (CD15) and Saturday (CD17).

ByJollyZebra · 10/07/2024 16:52

We're only on month 2 as well 😊 Trying desperately not to become obsessed but failed miserably with that last cycle so will try again with this one! 🙈

I'm 40, currently waiting the arrival of baby number 2 (any day now).
This is pregnancy number 4 though, after 2 recurrent second trimester losses.
Funnily enough all babies conceived in the months I didn't track ovulation and just enjoyed spending time with my hubby.

A midwife recently told me the same hormone responsible for birth, oxytocin, is 100% needed for conception! Which may explain why it happens when I've been more relaxed about it.

Dreamingofthree · 11/07/2024 09:17

Bbt fell, so I’m out!

knew it in my bones anyway, on to next cycle
