What helped you to get pregnant?

Apart from the obvious of DTD, what else did you try that you think may have helped you to get pregnant?

I have a three year old and sadly miscarried last year. We’ve been TTC since then but no success as of yet.

We both take supplements - folic acid, Coq10 and zita west DHA for me, zita west vitamen for him. We’ve also tried conceive plus. We used all of this when I fell pregnant the previous two times.

I tried reflexology a couple of months ago, admittedly only one session though. I have spoken to another therapist about womb massage/fertility healing but at £150 an appointment it’s an expensive one.

I track my cycles with OPKs and we have tried the sperm meets egg plan for the last two months.

Is there anything else I can try? I feel TTC is consuming me, especially with my would-be due date approaching and still no BFP.

If I’d “just relaxed and kept trying” I probably wouldn’t have kids now.

Yep, same.

MrsDTucker · 15/06/2024 10:17

Don't drink alcohol.

DingDongWitchDingDong · 15/06/2024 10:19

Alcohol and a very healthy & low-fat diet. Do Rosemary Conley and you'll soon be pushing a pram. Ohh, and exercise.

BabyMoonPie · 15/06/2024 10:20

A fertilily. It's the only thing I did differently on the cycle I got pregnant... which was cycle 27

@DingDongWitchDingDong

What do you mean alcohol helps with fertility?

CosmicLove · 15/06/2024 13:29

@SavingNotSpending so sorry for your loss. I have an 18mo and I miscarried twins in April. I'm hoping to start trying again soon. I think minimising stress is a big thing. When we fell pregnant with DD, it was the month our house finally sold and I think that pressure lifting may have helped. Both times I've been doing my best to eat well, take folic acid & vit d and hardly any alcohol (maybe just the odd glass of wine and then nothing during tww) but not doing anything special other than that. It will happen for you - you know you can get pregnant and you have a healthy 3 yo so those are really important factors to remember. Go easy on yourself xx

For me, it was finding another focus. I joined the gym and it's all I could think about and I was going 4-5 times a week. Started to get in good shape. Stopped tracking (we'd been trying a while) . We do have fertility issues and had IVF to conceive our son who is 2. But I decided I'm not going to let ttc take over my life any more. Partner was away the day I thought I was ovulating that month so I thought no chance. We also weren't too fussed about that month because it would mean a December due date but I actually got pregnant. It took us nearly a year of trying.
I think it's just a matter of time for you. It's easier said than done but just carry on trying but have a new focus and try and eat a really good diet and look after your health. I conceived after about 6 weeks of hitting the gym regularly.

A holiday and month off 'trying'

Ophy83 · 05/07/2024 19:32

Hot holiday sex. But probably in fact down to the things that go with that i.e. lack of work/life stress, eating good produce from the market, lots of low key strolls, sunny weather etc meaning we were both relaxed

SwordToFlamethrower · 05/07/2024 19:57

6 rounds of IVF

CSSL7 · 23/10/2024 10:45

Acupuncture
procieve lube
seed cycling
and naitre supplements

all of the above I only did the month I got pregnant
(Seeds and supplements one entire month then two weeks, got pregnant that cycle)

I also took coq10 for three months so the fourth month that would have likely started working.

I also drank beet juice five days after ovulation and actively kept my feet warm - never bare foot. Hot water bottles. Didn’t take baths.

also took baby aspirin but I had took that for the other four months. The above are the things I added that month that it worked.

sometimessunny · 23/10/2024 10:54

I tried absolutely everything I could think of for 7 months and nothing was happening. We decided to take a month off all the tracking and testing and being super healthy as the birth time wouldn't be the best for us if we were successful. That was the month I got pregnant. There was no rhyme or reason to it.

CSSL7 · 23/10/2024 11:14

Annoyingly, I should add something to the above post I sent in

we went on a city break and after three months of trying (after a 16 week loss, so the desperation to be pregnant again was strong), and we said let’s just enjoy this time being child free. We started making plans again. I even had a Prosecco to try on wedding dresses and a little beer on a Friday night. Something I hadn’t done since 2023. It was definitely a month where I’d ‘relaxed’ as they say. Don’t get me wrong, I was still doing a list as long as my arm, but it was probably the first month where I thought being child free for a bit longer isn’t the end of my existence.

VereeViolet · 23/10/2024 11:26

I see you’re taking CoQ10. I might suggest trying Ubiquinol instead, the active form of CoQ10 which is absorbed more easily. I was impressed by some of the studies I read about Ubiquinol, especially regarding improvements in sperm quality. I know it’s more expensive but it’s also more potent.

After trying for about 12 cycles, we both started taking 200mg of Ubiquinol a day and conceived a few months after that. It could just be coincidence of course, but I think it’s worth trying if it’s in the budget.

VereeViolet · 23/10/2024 11:31

Oh, and I was worried that I wasn’t ‘relaxing’ enough too. The month I conceived I wasn’t in a particularly calm frame of mind. But I was trying to take a little walk every day, eat reasonably well, go to sleep at a good hour and take my supplements. Some background anxiety didn’t stop me getting pregnant!
