What helped you to get pregnant?

Apart from the obvious of DTD, what else did you try that you think may have helped you to get pregnant?

I have a three year old and sadly miscarried last year. We’ve been TTC since then but no success as of yet.

We both take supplements - folic acid, Coq10 and zita west DHA for me, zita west vitamen for him. We’ve also tried conceive plus. We used all of this when I fell pregnant the previous two times.

I tried reflexology a couple of months ago, admittedly only one session though. I have spoken to another therapist about womb massage/fertility healing but at £150 an appointment it’s an expensive one.

I track my cycles with OPKs and we have tried the sperm meets egg plan for the last two months.

Is there anything else I can try? I feel TTC is consuming me, especially with my would-be due date approaching and still no BFP.

We were IVF with DD1 and DD2 just came as a surprise, but when having IVF alongside supplements I had acupuncture, and I do feel it helped

DTD then put a pillow under my bottom to tilt my pelvis upwards. Tilted uterus here.

Thank you. How many sessions did you have? This was something I looked at when I booked in for reflexology

Yes this is another thing I current do/did with my other pregnancies. Google doesn’t seem to think it’s legit but surely it helps!

Honestly, relaxing, stop checking dates, enjoy natural sex and make sure you orgasm.

I do understand why people say this, but it’s SO hard. Last month I was a lot more relaxed - I did have the odd drink here and there, used OPKs but not daily and we just had sex when we felt like it around the time we knew we should, and still nothing.

I used this https://amzn.eu/d/25qW5ps
as well as the Q10 supplements, vitamins and conceive lube

Sunshineclouds11 · 14/06/2024 22:36

I had to do IVF for my first, home insem for my second which happened on the month we done it once.

Sorry for your loss.

Oldermum84 · 14/06/2024 22:37

Starflower oil tablets from first day of cycle until ovulation. Plus coq10.

I’m quite scientific so I borrowed the electronic Clearblue fertility monitor from a friend and went on a big detox of all caffeine, alcohol, sugary foods and it worked after months of trying. I also had a mmc and a three year old and I’m here for you. It sucks with each month that goes by but I promise you it will happen for you.

Thank you, so sorry to hear that you were in the same position. I have pretty much cut out drinking and have made a big effort to eat healthier but admittedly sugar (chocolate/snacks) is my downfall, verging on comfort eating really when I’m stressed and down about it all. First day of my period today but as of tomorrow I’ll be back on it!

Twice

I used OvuSense, it tells you when you are in your fertile window and confirms ovulation so you don’t have to track using opk (I only did it once it told me I was in my fertile window to make sure their ovulation date and mines matched which it did) and you dtd when you have too and the rest of the time it’s cos you want too! There’s a fb group where people post their graphs if they need help.

Hycosy! Tried for over a year, had a hycosy and was immediately pregnant.

Viewfrommyhouse · 14/06/2024 23:15

Nothing. Just had sex. It took a year. Honestly, you can do all the suggested stuff but if it still doesn't happen, you'll feel even more shit than you already do.

Bayleaftree63 · 14/06/2024 23:21

Just relax. Stop checking dates, stop using ovulation tests, stop counting DPOs, forget the 2 week wait, forget all the supplements / vitamins etc etc. Just go back to enjoying sex, make it fun again not a chore because it’s your fertile few days. Good luck :) x

longdistanceclaraclara · 15/06/2024 00:25

It's all anecdotal, you could have. Acupuncture, co enzymes all the rest of it but there's no truth. It took me two years and two mmcs, I can't say anything was the magic thing that worked.

Patty78 · 15/06/2024 00:54

Another vote for Hycosy!
TTC 2 years, never been pregnant in my life (late 30s). Hycosy last year (in prep for IVF), fell pregnant naturally after ivf egg collection and before embryo transfer - twice (first ended in MMC a few months ago, and am now pregnant on my second cycle since the MMC)

BC2603 · 15/06/2024 06:04

I essentially gave up trying for 6 weeks in Nov/Dec last year after 18 months of TTC. Ready to go to GP to start tests in February. I enjoyed birthdays, Christmas, New Year and caught up with friends. I had some drinks, ate what I liked and really genuinely enjoyed my life. Rather than have planned DTD time that felt like we had to, me and DH went back to enjoying it.

I have no idea if that’s why I conceived but I can tell you it was fantastic for my mental health. So even if I’d not fell pregnant I’d have been ready to start the journey ahead with clarity.

FloofPaws · 15/06/2024 06:48

Angus Castus, little weight loss (or gain) if you're either over or under weight, getting myself a bit fitter too which helped with both weight loss and putting my mind elsewhere
Good luck

merryandbrightdelight · 15/06/2024 07:20

@SavingNotSpending I had three - two before egg collection and one when they were put back

SavingNotSpending · 15/06/2024 07:32

Thanks everyone.

With Hycosy is that something they would do even though I already have a child and was pregnant again last year? From google it looks like maybe not, unless I went private.

I do appreciate what those of you who are saying to relax more mean. I think mentally it’s that rock and a hard place - if I relax and stop doing all the things I’m doing, and don’t get pregnant, I’ll feel like it’s because I’m not trying hard enough. But then having it consume my life and still not getting pregnant doesn’t make me feel any better either. I suppose it’s finding a bit of a middle ground.

Got blood tests which diagnosed me as borderline hypothyroid (but definitely not at the level needed for TTC) and put on thyroxine. Was pg within 6 weeks after nearly a year of TTC.

minipie · 15/06/2024 07:38

If I’d “just relaxed and kept trying” I probably wouldn’t have kids now.
