Does anything actually work?!

Age is not on our side and we don’t qualify for IVF or fertility help due to age (we might have if GP had referred us properly on time but that’s a whole other story and subject to a complaint). All blood/hormone tests and scans have come back fine on multiple occasions. We’ve now been trying for 3 years so have decided to give it til my next birthday and then explore adoption/fostering. I want to throw everything at it!

In the early days I tested for ovulation and I use the Flo app but it’s pretty obvious when I’m ovulating without going in to detail! I take vitamin B, D, Zinc, folic acid and have taken pre conception gum**s but they messed with my cycle. My partner takes pre conception vitamins for men.

I’m being bombarded with adverts for Mira tracker, Gyna diet, Fertilily and all sorts of other drastic looking applicators.

Do any of these things actually work or are they just targeting desperate people? Is there anything else I should be taking supplement wise?

To answer a few questions…

I’m 43 now. Even if we could afford it, this rules us out of most private ivf. MyBMI is also above 35 which rules out payment plans like Gia (I think that’s what it’s called), although I am working on that.

We’ve both had all the tests, mine at least three times because they kept ‘expiring’ and needing to be repeated each time we followed up to ask what was happening and what the plan was (I have had a really poor experience with this and my GP practice). The only one not had is the hycosys but this has to be requested by Fertility and they now won’t accept a referral.

I’ve just ordered a fertility cup and some proceive: anything is worth a try!

There is some anecdotal evidence of inc in conception rate after hycosy. Even if it comes back good (not blocked), the process of flushing the medium through the tubes can open them. Not guaranteed obviously.
I have been trying for 2 years, never been pregnant in my life. Until after I had a hycosy in October last year before IVF. I then fell pregnant in December naturally (m/c march 😓) and I was just gearing up for my FET next cycle... which hasn't yet arrived and I've conceived naturally again now.
🤯 Mad!
I've also been taking coq10 initially at 150, then 300, then 600mg. Not sure how much of a difference it made.

Thanks @ouchypointy , I might give that a go as well. Will see if there is anything similar near me

Another vote for proceive (get the max version for you both), also sex every 2 days without fail irrespective of ovulation, and (possibly TMI, sorry!) we used a fertility cup thing to hold the sperm in afterwards. After nearly 18 months trying, 1 month of all these changes (except the vitamins, had those about 2 months) and we got pregnant, so something worked. We also were on holiday and found out in the last day we were pregnant, the lack of stress maybe helped too. We also cut out caffeine and made sure I ate breakfast every day. Good luck 🍀

Can I start proceive max mid cycle or should I wait til day one?

You can start it any time, just like any multivitamin as far as I'm aware.
