Hi guys ,

im a bit worried about my general health, I’m 22, good health, I get checked every couple of months & so this is either a pregnancy, the female body being random or idk

I had my period on 28th April - 2nd may (my period is always 5 days).

then , a few days later after my period, i had unprotected sex on 10th may, finished as normal and I am not on any contraception.
So its been 13 days since I’ve had sex (1 week and 6 days).

My health has been fine, only had my breast look extra big lately and my nipples did hurt on and off in the past 3 days but I’ve learned to ignore any possible ghost symptoms as I don’t like to assume anything.

I’ve gone toilet this evening and wiped with wipes (not tissue) and I had blood . I’ve put a picture (fake drawing on a Google image lol) to show how much blood I saw on the wipe and it wasn’t dark Bright red like my period - but it was the exact colour on the picture.

I wiped again and it was the same exact thing twice.

just so you know, my underwear that I’ve had on all day , has no blood (like It would by now if I was coming on my period) so wtf??

plus my period just ended only 3 weeks ago and my cycle is usually every 4-6 weeks or every 4 weeks since I was 13.

I never get a period without warning symptoms beforehand + I don’t even have any pain and I ALWAYS get bad pain or mild cramps beforehand so this can’t be a period I feel fine . I’ve put a pad on to assess how it looks for the rest of the day.

does anyone have an idea of what this may be?

Thankfully I already had a general ultrasound checkup scheduled for next week with my hospital , so if I have any stomach issues l / or pregnancy I’ll find out then. So the appointment comes at the perfect time because even if it’s not implantation I’m still happy to see if everything is as it should be inside me

Honestly it could be implantation bleeding. Do a test in about 3 days as it would probably be too early to see anything on the ultrasound you have next week.

DontBiteTheCat · 23/05/2024 22:34

You had unprotected sex within your fertile window, cycle day 12 is that right?

There is every chance you could be pregnant. Do you have a test?

Okay, I’m planning to ask the doctors why I may be bleeding too , and I’m sure they will make me take a pregnancy test

Just do a pregnancy test if you're unsure but to be honest it just sounds like spotting before your period comes. Even if spotting isn't usual for you, your last period was almost 4 weeks ago if it started 28th April, that's only 3 days shorter than a normal 4 week cycle.
Also why do you have a 'general ultrasound checkup' booked, are you in the UK? Surely there has to be a reason to get an ultrasound they don't do them for no reason?

my cycle isn’t 4 weeks my cycle is irregular so it’s usually 5 weeks +
because I know my body I know what’s normal and what isn’t etc.

I never spot before a period but I get symptoms other than spotting and acne such as a cramps which I haven’t got

also, my gp thinks it will be good for me to get an ultrasound , my gp actually are one of the good ones in the UK.

im going to use that opportunity to also ask to do a test

Okay you said your cycle was 4-6 weeks in your original post. What’s stopping you from doing a home pregnancy test? Easier than waiting for a doctor appointment?
Do you track your ovulation?

EmpressOfTheThread · 24/05/2024 17:57

Why has your GP referred you for an ultrasound? What was the consultation about?

EmpressOfTheThread · 24/05/2024 17:58

Just do what pp have advised and get a home test. Take it from there.

emmatcc1 · 24/05/2024 17:59

@Janedoe3 You did say your cycles are every 4weeks since you’ve been 13.
Do you still have the same spotting today?

It started off as every 4 weeks between 2014-2015 , from 2016 it’s usually every 6 weeks my cycles are very long and out of the norm as told by doctors but nothing to worry about

i don’t have spotting today either, if it was period spotting it would be continuous for me

general checkup & consultation was about general cramps from my last period

Do you track your ovulation?

Because I can wait until Tuesday, I am working from home back to back so only time I’m free is when shops are closed, closest pharmacy is not within walking distance it’s all a headache and then bank holiday doesn’t help either where I am based

so waiting for Tuesday when everything is back to normal for me

no; I need to start tracking my ovulation I’m going to get something for that too on Tuesday

@Janedoe3 Tuesday is not far away. I hope you get the results you wish for.
Good luck 😊

Thank you. I won’t be too sad if I don’t! I’ll keep it updated 😇

You’ve got better willpower than me! If it turns out you aren’t pregnant and you do want to start tracking ovulation, I’d recommend getting an app like Flo to track your cycle (I would not suggest using the predicted ovulation dates it gives you because you have an irregular cycle it won’t be able to accurately predict anything, but is useful to keep a record) and get some LH strips off Amazon.

Fluffycavut · 24/05/2024 23:54

Sorry but a doctor wouldn't be sending you for a general check up unless there was something wrong.

Your not telling us something.

Are you going under diagnosis for POCS or Endo?

emmatcc1 · 25/05/2024 00:44

@Fluffycavut Why does it matter what the ultrasound is for?
She asked about spotting that is unusual in her cycle, if you don’t have an answer then don’t comment.

EmpressOfTheThread · 25/05/2024 07:18

How frustrating to have to wait until Tuesday!
I hope it works out ok.

Are you ok mentally? I’m not going under diagnosis for either

Why are you trying to draw your own conclusion when I’ve already said it’s a general check up ?

I work in corporate healthcare trust me I know the system

if you want to check on yourself it’s possible it just depends on how helpful your local GP is , how helpful the doctor is at your appointment and your way of wording stuff at the appointment. I’ve never had one before so it makes sense that I can be allowed to ask

My gp is very quick to help, I simply asked if I could see if I am ok to my gp and she made me an appointment instantly.

lThe manager for the gP is amazing and helpful too, you’re not treated like an inconvenience like some others gp I’ve been to when I lived elsewhere

Okay thanks I will do,

Yes it’s so irregular that it’s hard to plan my life around a period that comes and goes on different times of the year
