Hi guys ,

im a bit worried about my general health, I’m 22, good health, I get checked every couple of months & so this is either a pregnancy, the female body being random or idk

I had my period on 28th April - 2nd may (my period is always 5 days).

then , a few days later after my period, i had unprotected sex on 10th may, finished as normal and I am not on any contraception.
So its been 13 days since I’ve had sex (1 week and 6 days).

My health has been fine, only had my breast look extra big lately and my nipples did hurt on and off in the past 3 days but I’ve learned to ignore any possible ghost symptoms as I don’t like to assume anything.

I’ve gone toilet this evening and wiped with wipes (not tissue) and I had blood . I’ve put a picture (fake drawing on a Google image lol) to show how much blood I saw on the wipe and it wasn’t dark Bright red like my period - but it was the exact colour on the picture.

I wiped again and it was the same exact thing twice.

just so you know, my underwear that I’ve had on all day , has no blood (like It would by now if I was coming on my period) so wtf??

plus my period just ended only 3 weeks ago and my cycle is usually every 4-6 weeks or every 4 weeks since I was 13.

I never get a period without warning symptoms beforehand + I don’t even have any pain and I ALWAYS get bad pain or mild cramps beforehand so this can’t be a period I feel fine . I’ve put a pad on to assess how it looks for the rest of the day.

does anyone have an idea of what this may be?

Thankfully I already had a general ultrasound checkup scheduled for next week with my hospital , so if I have any stomach issues l / or pregnancy I’ll find out then. So the appointment comes at the perfect time because even if it’s not implantation I’m still happy to see if everything is as it should be inside me

@emmatcc1
It matters because you can have spotting with these conditions. And these conditions also cause long cycles.

Fluffycavut · 25/05/2024 08:25

Janedoe3 · 25/05/2024 07:56

Are you ok mentally? I’m not going under diagnosis for either

Why are you trying to draw your own conclusion when I’ve already said it’s a general check up ?

I work in corporate healthcare trust me I know the system

if you want to check on yourself it’s possible it just depends on how helpful your local GP is , how helpful the doctor is at your appointment and your way of wording stuff at the appointment. I’ve never had one before so it makes sense that I can be allowed to ask

My gp is very quick to help, I simply asked if I could see if I am ok to my gp and she made me an appointment instantly.

lThe manager for the gP is amazing and helpful too, you’re not treated like an inconvenience like some others gp I’ve been to when I lived elsewhere

Ok wow that's extremely rude you have no idea what's happening in my life and to insinuate I'm insane is rude.

But I'll put that down to you being just stressed so your forgiven.

I've never heard of a GP sending people for ultrasound scans for a general checkups. But whatever.

Poc's and Endo can give you irregular periods and spotting.

An entropion can also give you random spotting suddenly as they just happen. I've had one of these my self. It can't be found on an ultrasound scan. It's where your cervix kinda folds inside out a little. It doesn't effect your life but they can burn off the cells which is a little uncomfortable.

Juliet194 · 25/05/2024 08:29

If your period started on the 28th of April, then if you were pregnant, you would only be 4 weeks and 2 days by Tuesday the 28th of May. This would be too early to see anything on an ultrasound scan. The earliest that you can have a scan tends to be 6 weeks, and that is usually an internal scan rather than an external one.

I would just buy a pregnancy test from Amazon, or wait and mention it at your appointment on Tuesday. If it is just an appointment for an ultrasound though, then they may not keep pregnancy tests in the department. I work in a hospital department where we don't keep pregnancy tests in stock, and when patients ask for one (which is quite rare tbf), we have to go and steal some from A&E. They are the cheapest strip tests, no different to ones you can buy, so I would just buy some now to test at home rather than letting it build up til Tuesday.

Are you hoping for a positive or a negative result? Either way, I would much rather process the result at home rather than at a hospital appointment. Hope you get the result you want.

MrsDTucker · 25/05/2024 08:43

Did the doctors do a pregnancy test?

(As you've edited two posts with just a full stop and I can't read the first version on the app).

Alwaysblindsided · 25/05/2024 08:46

If you need answers, Amazon prime a bulk pack of tests will give you it fastest!!

lolorin · 25/05/2024 09:04

My intention is not to be rude but you keep prodding me for something I’ve explained and I don’t like to be made out I’m hiding something.. it’s an anonymous forum I’m not going to be scared to say if I have something wrong with me .. but I don’t yet you still kept pushing

However I apologise and I hope you’re okay

Nope, I can’t actually remember what my last appointment at the gp was for

I think it was because I had bad period cramps and then that’s when I asked for a general ultrasound to see why my periods are so irregular

so I’ll find out on Tuesday at the hospital and update this thread

Sorry but a doctor wouldn't be sending you for a general check up unless there was something wrong.

Your not telling us something.

Are you going under diagnosis for POCS or Endo?

@EmpressOfTheThread @Fluffycavut why is it any of your business why she’s going for an ultrasound? If the question was asked once and OP didn’t answer it either isn’t relevant or she doesn’t want to disclose. It could be for a variety of health reasons that OP doesn’t feel comfortable mentioning, or, just as a general check up based on her own medical history that her GP would be considering. If it was relevant to her question she would have mentioned the details behind it originally or when first asked.

@Janedoe3 you can get cheap tests off Amazon with prime/regular delivery, or local supermarkets too if you do feel like you need to know sooner. Hope you get the outcome you’re looking for with the tests x

Thanks hun xx

i did a test today it came from Amazon a strip test and it was negative but I promise I’m not upset ! I’m now wondering if it’s a case of ovulation bleeding perhaps .. but my ovulation test came out faint which is a negative so idk anymore . tomorrows hospital appointment will clarify everything in one go

I’m excited for the hospital appointment it’s my first ever time having a checkup I think they should offer it yearly for all women honestly cos our bodies are wonderfully complicated with all the things we experience inside us 😓

Because, @Ksh5460 it may have altered the advice I was going to give, if there were any medical issues that indicated anything. My own history here may have been of some help.
What the OP chooses to share is up to her. She has shared some private medical details, in order to get advice and support. Her choice.
I think if you read my posts you get see the spirit in which they were intended.

EmpressOfTheThread · 27/05/2024 19:57

@Janedoe3 I'll leave the thread here - just to reiterate my posts were intended to be supportive as I've been through a lot myself. I hope they were not misinterpreted.
Good luck, I hope you get the results you want and everything else is ok 👌

Hi guys, I just had my nhs ultrasound pelvic appointment today . I have no signs of pcos, no signs of fibroids and I’m generally healthy they also done an internal scan with the probe.

so that rules out any underlying issues causing the spotting

As mentioned here’s my timeline:

  • I had intercourse 10th may ,
on 23rd may I had spotting ,
  • I took a pregnancy test yesterday on the 27th may and it was negative (did I take it too early?)
  • I took an ovulation test yesterday also, and it was negative too (although Flo says I’m ovulating but Flo may not even be accurate as my periods are so irregular )
  • I had my pelvic ultrasound hospital appointment today on the 28th may and I don’t have pcos or fibroids

i bought some proceive tablets from Holland & Barret yesterday it contains zinc, 400ug of folic acid and all the vitamins . It has only positive reviews with conceiving quickly on the website.
https://www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/proceive-women-advanced-fertility-supplement-60-capsules-60017483

I also have a generally healthy diet and I must mention I’ve been pregnant before so I know I can have children.

im just so confused what the spotting on 23rd may is about - I don’t have a
period upcoming yet so I’m wondering if I tested too early for pregnancy.

what do you all think?

Wow, which area are you in to get a hospital appointment and scan so quickly? You're very lucky.

Glad the results showed nothing untoward. Did they look for evidence of a foetus?

I'd second using an ovulation app, really useful when things go a little awry.

The appointment was booked by the gp in early end of April/ early may , and I’m im Hillingdon borough

they didn’t see any signs of pregnancy, they put the probe inside me for an internal scan which is good for an early diagnosis . However would a Fetus even show during implantation ? Wouldn’t it be a few weeks or a week after seeing bleeding ?

going to research on Google

and yep, going to do an ovulation test again tomorrow or tonight , I heard it best different times of the day

@Janedoe3 No nothing would show on ultrasound this early. Hcg needs to reach above 1000 for anything to be visible.

Fluffycavut · 28/05/2024 13:28

@Janedoe3 it's good your ultrasound scan has come back clean.

Refering to my earlier post Cervical Ectropion which are normal, literally anyone can be walking around with one and not know, can sometimes bleed.

They can be diagnosed with an internal examination.
