Thought I’d make a new thread for those of us Ttc in June 2024. I know some of us will cross over from end of May to June ! Wishing everyone all the luck ✨❤️

What day does everyone take their first ovulation test?
Do you take one as soon as your period is finished or do you wait closer to your fertile week?

I start to take one as soon as my period is finished then I can have a full set of data for the whole cycle.

Hello, I am currently heading into my first cycle after having a MC 4 weeks ago. I am just finishing my first AF since the MC and I am thinking I will start taking ovulation tests as soon as AF is over because I am not sure if ovulation will be slightly different after the miscarriage.

Very happy to finally be able to start trying again but nervous after the loss.

Welcome !! I hope you will get a BFP this cycle! You might ovulate later than usual so it is better to keep it in mind.

Hi girls,

I'm new to BBT testing this month and finding it quite confusing - can anyone please explain when the peaks and lows should be that I need to keep an eye out for?

Thanks!

Assumption: you have a 28 day cycle
follicular phase
CD1 - CD5 (assume your period lasts for 5 days): your baseline BBT (low)
CD 5- CD 13 (before ovulation): it fluctuates and gradually rising
CD14 (ovulation day): It rises further and might drop down a bit which means an egg is released.
luteal phase
CD15 - CD27: BBT keeps rise and remain high.
CD28: BBT drops sharply when AF arrives. Or BBT remains elevated when you are pregnant

romeosierra9 · 04/06/2024 11:24

This is really really helpful thank you so much!

I've read to test in the morning, is it just the morning or throughout the day?

Thanks!

Always test BBT when you just wake up in the morning.

Haha ttc turns us all a bit delirious doesn’t it 😂. Yeah I’m not overthinking it as it’s 100% too early and doesn’t mean anything.
I’m feeling very deflated this morning. My BBT has dropped again even lower, so I don’t think it’s our month again. The only thing keeping me going is my pregnancy chart did the same, but I’m thinking maybe I didn’t actually ovulate (attached both).
So a bit down in the dumps today!

Omg that’s great that you know when your surge was though! At least (hopefully) you’re out of the confusion and can relax a bit xxx

I feel like there is still hope although I admit I haven't seen a BBT chart like yours before however it is normal for you which means you will be fine. Unless your AF is here, don't give up!

My only piece of advice (easier said than done) would be to take it day by day! Tomorrow it might shoot back up but I understand how it’s so easy to keep thinking forward! But it might a pattern for you having your bbt drop after ovulation… maybe even just before implantation?

I don’t really know how bbt works - does it drop on day of ovulate? And if you are pregnant it stays up but if you are not, it goes down?

yes, deffo a relief but also not loving how I’m on CD36 😂😂 never thought I’d be the one having the longest cycle ever! Tbh I am surprised that a CP has messed up my cycle this much, I was sure I would just go back to normal!

Yeah to be honest I’m just about ready to call it quits and crack on with life after this cycle. Sick of it taking over everything 😂.
I think on my pregnancy chart I had an implantation dip at around 6dpo, but apparently it doesn’t always happen, or doesn’t always mean it’s implantation. Meant to stay high until AF is due and then drop.

Haha oh gosh! Well at least it’s no longer and you’re officially into the countdown. Aren’t you supposedly more fertile after a chemical/miscarriage? 🤞🏻

rlar · 04/06/2024 13:53

May I join, didn’t want to find myself back here but here I am! Conceived in April/May after 8 months of TTC for #1, which sadly ended in an early miscarriage last week. Sorry to see so may have experienced similar.

Now feeling excited to just crack on and get trying again. We DTD last night - did anyone else find that nerve wracking post MC?! We’re taking the fact that we got pregnant in the first place as a positive, and hoping that the rumours of being fertile after a loss are true.

LeleMR · 04/06/2024 13:59

@GreenPickle I have attached (tried, not sure if it actually worked) a screen grab of my BBT from August 2023 to today and all the cycles in between. I wasn't TTC then, only started in my April cycle this year, which ended in a CP (the blue line is the pregnancy and the gradual dip is the loss, had a BFN within 3 days of the loss starting). You can kind of see that for me the temperature drops just before ovulation and rises quite steeply after and drops again at AF arrival. Red indicates the fertile window. Overtime there is definitely a pattern to make out, I also use OPKs every month to check when I expect to ovulate. Despite the CP a few weeks ago at TTC cycle#1 I think for me ovulation seems to potentially occur today, tomorrow or has already occurred yesterday I think.

I use natural cycles to track everything, but found premom for the OPK from this thread which has been very helpful. Didn't realise they actually assess the picture! Very cool.

Currently trying to wait it out for 2 weeks, before testing anything.

Hope it all works out for us soon x

I'm sorry for your loss, I'm also in the same boat. Had a MC at the end of May, still going through it physically as tissue remained 😓Will be trying again as soon as we can though, I feel like the first time will be a bit strange too 🙈

So sorry for your loss. I am in a similar situation as you, TTC #1, conceived in April and a CP in May. Similar to you, my husband and I also take the positive that we could get pregnant, hopeful for the future and back to TTC :)

i feel you! I’m only cycle 2 so can’t really complain (yet) but it is very very consuming! Even the LH strips have become an obsession. Back in the day none of this was available and people managed (I won’t stop doing it though😂).

ahh I see! But if you are pregnant, it stays high?

yess, 5dpo today! I may take a preggy test when I’m 8/9dpo before my wedding just to make sure 👀 but I think that is too early 😂 deffo taking one 12dpo though! We are going away so if it’s negative I can chuck it away in a faraway place and pretend it never happened!

Ahh we are in the same boat ❤️ CP last cycle was month #1 and has enormously messed up this cycle 😫

I only ever stated tracking LH with strips last month so I don’t have any patterns that I’ve noticed but really interesting seeing and hearing other people’s experiences! I think bbt would stress me out but I’ll probably take it up if I’m not successful in the next few cycles!

I would take the premom’s numbers with a pinch of salt!

The lighting massively affects it! I’ve also noticed that if you try to take a picture in different lighting, it will come up with the same number but if you force close the app and do it again… the number changes 😂 I do sometimes change my ratios by looking at previous ones too but I find it very helpful visualising it all!

Me too! It’s a good sign we were able to get pregnant. But doesn’t make it any easier. Feel like my body has betrayed me a little bit 😫

Looks like a few of us had a CP in April/may! Hopefully in a few months we can all come back to this thread with our + tests! ❤️ I found it incredibly hard to TTC again straight away because it was so demotivating starting from the beginning after knowing I was pregnant 😓

Yeah I believe (could be wrong) that your temp drops right before AF. Some people get dips but others don’t, again just something else you have to figure out how your own body works 🙄.

Eeeek yesss the wedding!!! You never know it could show! Yeah would have thought by 12dpo it would hopefully be trustworthy. But at least you’ll have amazing distractions

Can I join in? Just got AF on CD 23, which is way too early. I've got a meeting with my GP to talk about irregular cycles after stopping the pill. I'm hoping I can get some help for my short luteal phase.

Marshmallow99 · 05/06/2024 07:51

Morning everyone, how is everyone doing?

I’m about to head into my fertile period and this month I am trying the Fertilily Cup, I tested it last night and had a slight panic when I struggled to get it out 😅

has anyone else tried this? I’ve seen some really good reviews.

xx

I haven’t but could you let us know how you find it? 6 days until I head into my fertile window I think (still waiting for my cycles to settle after coming off the pill in April). Feels like forever I’m so impatient!

When did you stop the pill? I’ve been off for 2 months now and my cycles are all over the place. got a positive OPK last month but then no temp surge and then AF lasted 1 day?! It’s very confusing I might try speaking to the doctors too.

My mum said it took her 3 months and that was without knowing when her fertile window is… how hard can it be 😰 (quite hard actually!)

how is your chart looking today? Are you 7dpo?

Currently on CD37 😂 it’s a bit mad as my periods have always been regular between 30-32 days but oh well!

leaning towards not taking a test on the morning of the wedding as I’ll be 8dpo and it will more than likely say negative and not sure how I’ll feel about it 😰 I think it’s just seeing the words ‘not pregnant’ that do me in!

sending us all the positive vibes this week!

hopeful4us · 05/06/2024 11:17

AF arrived today. Suffering from killer cramps (have not missed these!) and feeling a little disappointed but trying to reframe it in my mind - I’ll be able to properly track this cycle (which I guess is technically my first cycle since removing the implant) and fx we will see a bfp soon.

KittyFantastica · 05/06/2024 11:30

More uncertainty for me at the moment. I have an appointment for a blood test on Monday to try and get an idea of what's going on with my hormones as I've had irregular cycles since my MMC in March. I was always clockwork before and it doesn't seem to be resolving.

I had a false surge on CD9 on cheapies and 'high' readings on my CB monitor. No BBT rise, temps stayed baseline. Kept testing and I've had 'High' every day since but no rise in BBT or positive on strips. I know this is normal, I've had high readings for days before on previous cycles before a peak.

I ran out of sticks for my CB advanced tracker so ordered more. They come with a new wand, so I went through the motions of starting a new cycle on the new wand as well as the old wand. It has been 3 days of tests on them now and the old wand has given me flashing smileys for two days, while the new wand remains blank circle. Some consistency at this point would be great. I conceived with the old wand and the CB monitor previously, so I trust them. My last cycle was only 18 days, so I'm really hoping I'm not having another anovulatory one. FF thinks I've ovulated already but my temps over the last three days have been crazy, so I doubt it.

I never expected to be driven down mad by all this!

Haha my mum said the same, no mention of checking fertile period but got pregnant quickly and easily 🙄.

I think I’m 7dpo, could be wrong, who knows 😂. My BBT chart has slightly gone up again, just above the cover line. But I’m convinced it’s not my month again.

Feeling a bit very stressed out by it all and other things, DH is away with work so mum if having DD so I can have a night to myself, and probably some wine.

Yeahhh just do a strip on at 8DPO? If not then just enjoy your special day and hopefully by the time you test again it will be your BFP 🥰
