Thought it was time we had a new home, seeing as we've almost outgrown the old one. So in honour to Scorpio, Sybil, BB and toomuch (hope I didn't forget anyone ) here we are - in the company of pregnant (and cheerful) ladies

hobnobs - on ivf letter

toomuch - i love my bug. ask away if any Q's

well sorry if TMI but we tried being good last night and the sodding thing split. We are going to just wait & see, we would be happy

Scorps - you are sooooooo broody again aren't you!!?? [naughty face]

Is there anything you don't like about the bug? You had the loola didn't you? Is the bug not really bulky? Does it fit in shop doorways and stuff? Do you feel a bit weird when people look at it knowing it cost so much? I really like the bug I'm just not sure I can convince dh that's it £300 nicer than other pushchairs..

scorpio1 · 17/07/2008 12:26

the loola was too square for me, literally the shape square. bug is very sexy.

i have had money comments about it; it often stands out here, because we live in a low wage place, if you earn more it sticks out. I never tell them how much it was, just mention it was a gift from dh and change the subject.

bug is fine for shops, cafes. only thing is i cannot unfold it yet

dh hates it. he is a loola fan. also already mimi wants to sit up and look around but lseat isnt ready for 6 months on the bug. My bug is denim, i adore it, always feel very smart.

i told dh i have to use it everyday; if he had to use something everyday he would want a good one too.

yes am broody but not silly enough to actively ttc yet...couldnt hack 2 under 18mths really. plus dh says no but keeps mentioning it

new pics on profile!!

nomoremagnolia · 20/07/2008 12:23

toomuch nice to see you back How are you doing? 13 weeks to go? Not long now then!!

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 20/07/2008 12:24

scorpio just looked at your pics - she's so cute and looks so tiny still, especially in her pram (though probably not to you!)

Not too sure about a buggy named after this (from wikipedia) "Mura is traditional general Japanese term for unevenness, inconsistency in physical matter or human spiritual condition"
Having said that I really like what it can do, face either way, off road tyres (I prefer the look of the 3 wheeler), adjustable footrest, carseat etc. Athough it does look rather like a second stage car seat on wheels (see the maxi cosi priori)

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 20/07/2008 12:48

I think out of your list I'd want the bug if I could justify the cost (I wouldn't spend my entire baby goods budget on it but if I could afford it I would get it iykwim) I like the maxi cosi carseat as it's got the isofix base, so you know it's properly installed.

Just uploaded some more knitting photos to my profile - including baby toomuch's boots

I love the blanket buddies - they are really lovely!

I had a two day training event Fri/Sat - come back very motivated. My mil arrived Friday evening and helped out... I got back to find the rug hanging out of the window (in the rain); ds had a new toothbrush - taken out of packet (which was in bin) - suitable for ages 4 - 6 (clearly marked - I think ds twisted dh's arm in supermarket...); 1/2 a grapefruit on the counter, with tin foil on top (who eats 1/2 a grapefruit when you could have the whole grapefruit!); the chair moved back to underneath the bookcase in ds's room so that he can climb up onto the arms then on upwards...; and, when I 'lifted' ds when I went to bed (he's dry but not got that much capacity at night yet ) I found that he had two blankets plus a quilt (dug out from the cupboard) so was completely damp... apparently it is SO cold at the moment that I was guilty of nearly allowing him to freeze to death!!!! (this is mil who managed to put quilt ontop of sleeping bag when he was a baby - and got asked not to!) She did look after him this morning though, so is forgiven!

She also bought her partner who said that ds (3.3) had a better vocabulary and use of English than a 9yo that he had been teaching [smug emoticon!] and someone where we were at lunchtime (picnic concert) commented on how 'bonnie' he was

toomuchtimeonline · 21/07/2008 10:47

oh my god nomore - the boots and bunny blankets - are the cutest thing in the world!! I sooo wanted to knit lots of things and I've been rubbish - your stuff is amazing!

I know what you mean about the Maxi Cosi - I'm just not sure that dh can be convinced.. I'm also fairly keen on the loola as most people seem to buy a lightweight buggy after 6 months anyway so it seems like such a waste to spend hundreds on something you'll only use for 6months.. I need to spend a few hours in a shop with all of them on display and make my mind up once and for all.. I am starting to lean towards the bug though..

Scorpio - she is such a cutie!!!

MT - I guess MILs are mixed blessing

nomoremagnolia · 21/07/2008 11:33

toomuch do you want seams on your blue baby uggs? Have a look at the pics of the pink ones I did for Millie to see what I mean. There's a blue bunny blanket in the making for baby toomuch too
MT sounds like quite a w/e

OP posts:
mistlethrush · 21/07/2008 12:18

Toomuch - we thought that we might end up with a light-weight stroller, but didn't. MB did us all the way through, so its not necessarily required to buy a second. You just need to make sure that whatever you do get is as versatile as possible and suits your circumstances. I must say that getting a larger car helped part way through as the MB would go in the boot without the back seat going down (not possible in Polo), although it is now fantastic when we go away with ds's bicycle (pedal-less) instead as that fits even more easily.

oo yes seams please!! baby toomuch is kicking away as we speak in anticipation of wearing his baby uggs thanks so much nomore - they are gorgeous! Can't wait to knit something special for baby nomore!!

Following on from our chat I decided to get the tube to a john lewis at lunchtime and did the full bugaboo tour! I am now totally addicted and want one! I just don't know how I will be able to convince dh that we need to spend such a lot of money on a buggy.. I may just order it and have the discussion once it arrives.. there is a 5 week wait after all..

MT good to know that not everyone ends up with a mclaren.. we have quite a big boot so hopefully it shouldn't be a problem

Gilly - good luck with the next round of treatment - I have everything crossed for you

mistlethrush · 21/07/2008 15:33

xxxxGillyxxxx

hobnobs · 21/07/2008 15:59

Good luck tomorrow, Gilly . Have to admit I'll be glad when the scan is done so I've got a bit more of any idea how I'm responding to the Clomid. Glad there's some activity on the house front.

Nomore Those booties and blanket buddies are absolutely gorgeous. I am so impressed.

Toomuch Good luck with the buggy decision-making. Afraid I have no words of wisdom or strong views yet.

Scorpio Lovely photos of Millie.

Mistlethrush You must be proud of DS! MILs are never easy house-guests, are they! (Though admittedly, mine doesn't tend to come and stay very often so it's not a problem). I remember my sister telling me how her MIL had re-hung all the clothes in her wardrobe!

Feeling a bit emotional at the moment & a bit stressed about about trying to fit in various things this week. Also discovered that DH has a meeting he really can't miss on Thursday PM which, just my luck, will be when they want to do the IUI (plus I really need to be at home then). Roll on the weekend when it will all, hopefully, be over!

toomuchtimeonline · 21/07/2008 16:23

Hugs Hobnobs - try and take a deep breath and not worry about things that may not happen - easier said than done I know.. Hopefully it won't fall on Thursday and everything will be fine - fingers crossed. Take each task and each day one thing at a time so that you don't get overwhelmed - and just think only 4 and a bit days and it will be friday night and you will hopefully achieved everything you needed to.. {{hugs}}

Oh Gilly I am sorry! Haven't been posting as generally lurking with baby in arms but have been checking in to see how you got on.

Ten eggs is a huge amount though. Better not get too frisky with dh this weekend, and fingers crossed that next time will be completely successful.

Fingers crossed for you later in the week Hobnobs.

And Toomuch - only 13 weeks how time has flown! The best advice I can give you about pushchairs are to try and collapse them in the shop, if they are easy to do, and even better if you can do them one-handed its a winner!

Gilly I am so sorry. Such a difference compared to the last month.

Thank you Gilly and Toomuch for your calming influence yesterday afternoon. I had an acupuncture session (ended up making use of the box of tissues when we had our pre-acupuncture general chit-chat!) and did feel a bit calmer afterwards.

The scan went ok. Very nice doctor. My uterus lining is 7.something mm (should have written all these figures down!) and I have two good-sized follicles on one side (13.7mm and one a bit smaller) and a couple of smaller ones on the other which she thought probably wouldn't reach maturity.

I'm booked in for another scan on Thursday morning which I'll cancel if I get a positive on the OPK and just arrange the IUI. (Need to start using OPKs tomorrow (day 11) though she thought it was unlikely it would happen until Thursday at least). In terms of timing, she said that they'd be able to keep DH's sample in an incubator for a couple of hours if necessary, so hopefully he'll be able to nip in there on the way to his meeting.

mistlethrush · 22/07/2008 15:13

Gilly so sorry. Very frustrating.
